  • 5 minutes in... is that Golden Otis?

  • hahahahahah

Man, this Matt guy is getting rich stating the obvious. Yes, he is a genius.

  • why am i not getting sound a third of a way into the video?

  • Again, I don't think you understand how it works at SBG. Matt does NOT have a title. No one calls Matt anything other than Matt. So-called "terms of respect" are for squares.

Matt IS a black belt in BJJ under Chris Hauter. That's not a title, any more than "ASE Certified Mechanic" is a title. I'm not sure why you don't believe this is the case, but I assure you, there is no such hierarchy at the gym.

We're a bit more grown up than that.

  • IMO Matt just articulated a the training methodology of all combat sports and gave it a name. Look into any combat sport and you'll see common principles in their training methodologies, the reason is they can see that it produces results. Even Machida (if you've ever watched his training vids) using similar training methods to make his style functional. Really it's not the art but the training methodolgy, but the paradox it's the art using defines the training methodology. Lifes strange.

  • @LuqmanNaq Machida's is an overrated, finally put away by a real fighter

  • @KLguy133 no way... dude is brilliant. Shogun is an incredible fighter that's all, shame he has to have another knee surgery. The way he performed against machida in both fights, I couldn't see anyone at 205 challenging him too much. We'll have to see how much this surgery will affect his performance against Rashad (no way Rashad could Shogun when he's 100%.

  • @LuqmanNaq Shogun's looking good

  • Matt does have kind of a cult following, it's true. But the reason isn't because he wants obedience, it's because his philosophy about practicing the martial arts continually produces athletes with an INSANE amount of proficiency. And he's a great public speaker and an outstanding coach.

As far as titles go, he isn't talking about belts, he's talking about titles like Sifu, Master, Guru, Grandmaster, etc. He is a black belt, that's not a title.

A BJJ black belt takes about 15 years by the way.

  • Have to agree with everything R.M has to say.

Sad part is so many M.A schools is a business and things (more time = more money) move real slow as far as learning techniques go.

  • I love Sports.

  • what he says about the 'sensei syndrome ' is 100% correct. More later gotta eat.

  • @KLguy133 lol thats funny...i love it hahahahaa

  • this guys awesome
