Hmmm.... interesting. One of the things I have learned visiting piano players here on YouTube, is that electric pianos don't go out of tune at all, and that traditional pianos are out of tune more often than not.
you play it beautiful, slow and emotional. You may also include soft and silent playing, like in a movie, in a conversation. In one word again: BEAUTIFUL!!!
Good attempt. Definitely too slow - listen to THE version by Aldo C. Satie played fast; it's a myth that ES designed this, and the Gymnopodies, to be played like funereal durges.
Good tempo :) But try some more colors like comments of Satie : i don't hear any brilliant (f)or in dreams (p), you can also try some mp and mf to get more emotion :)
You played this so beautifully. I can hear Satie in the way you played this, with emotion and heartfelt. Very well done. Would youy be willing to make another recording with the camera away from the piano? If you did I'd love to hear that piece too.
I agree with the last comment. The people that agree that this song should be played faster ARE, in fact, assholes. This song is very introspective and all about longing and desperation to me. It shouldn't be played like Liszt got a hold of it. This is one of the best renditions of this song on here...and it sounds better even slower. Satie was about emotion, not technical ability and showy virtuosity(which he was neither).
the people who say this piece has to play faster than in this video don't know what they're talking about, actually, this speed is almost too fast, saties music is like meditation, it's not about the speed
This is the best version of this song I've seen on youtube, if it was recorded better it would have been perfect. The speed was fine I don't know what these people are whining about.
i like it slower, but that's just me. Anyway, i think you should have placed the camera at a greater distance, for the sound is not good at all. I'm guessing that's the problem: one can hear the inner sounds of the piano.
i have a question for erik my gr 7 music teacher said he knows he his name is mr.paola and he uses pecies called the annoying offences and i want to know if its you. Mr. paola works at sameul hearne p.s
thankyou what a great comment, i acctualy hve this piece for an exam so i have to do alot of general knowlege studies on him.. quite an interesting man...
I am a Romantic myself, fan of Liszt, but satie always gives me a ghostly chill. I havem memorized vexaitions so that I can play it where there is a piano, and it gets me everytime how ghostly it all it. I have played this before also, it's just creepy. I suggest reading about the man.
I like your interpretation. People tend to play this too fast and make the ornaments a little too rapid thus loosing the dreamy/nightmare feeling from the piece. I also think sustain adds to the dream state feeling.

Much better than all the fast ones, maybe Satie wrote it fast, but it's much more dragging if it's slow. And it's a dragging song anyway. Nice (-:

It was excellent but if you made it a bit more delicate it would be top notch

I liked the speed but I didn't enjoy too much all that vibration in the chamber... perhaps softening a bit the pedal?

Too slow and mushy. Speed it up and put some passion into the piece. This is one of my favorite satie pieces.

i think u played it verry good. u played it slow and with feeling unlike some other people. good!

Like the force you play with, the rithm that comes with it and the silents where the tones can surrender in to the play.

I'm very fond of Eric Satie (I'm french) and I can tell you : I like your interpretation because you understood the poetry in this music. Carry on !
