@Picnicl It may not be as clever or origional as many sketches but I think that every once in a while it's nice to be able to laugh at something that is simple "sillyness" as monty python would say.
I'm afraid that it wasn't actually that funny a sketch by Monty Python standards. It's overrated and saved, if that, by a few little touches (the musicians and Cleese's reactions to them, Cleese's choice to decline Palin's offer to tell him which cheeses that he actually has, the audience's realisation that he has been a gunslinger who presumably wouldn't care too much about cheese in any case).
It's not in the same league as the Playwright sketch or the sketch about 'woody' and 'tinny' words.
If you can get Michael Palin to fall off his chair laughing you really have something. Definitely one of their best sketches ever, and Michael was the funniest Python.
Throwing up three times. That had to suck. Come to think about it, the idea of haveing cheese when I get sick does not sound like I good idea. I don't know why.
I thought he was talking about the D Day landings - turns out he was pretending to be a pepper pot

Great story! The part about Michael falling off the chair always gets me! John has mentioned it in a number of interviews!

Yes, John did a good impersonation of Graham, I could easily visualise the whole scene.
