Since when the hell is King's Double Strike now a "super art"? Albeit the last fighting game I played with SNK characters was Capcom vs. SNK 2; you could freely use her Double Strike as a normal technique, at no cost to your super gauge.

If you read her bio from the game "Art of Fighting" it will tell that King is disguised to 1. seem like a reliable fighter, 2. escape dangers within the city, and 3. for numerous other reasons such as her conflict with her own sex, I guess the name "King" just stuck. :)

Her voice is the same style as it's been since KOF 2003 so it's nearly 10 years too late to complain about that, and has the same voice actress she's always had. I don't see anything that warrants her being claimed as "not being king". If anything she's just a mishmash of the various incarnations.

Even if it's for a character who technically never had it before. Yes from KOF 94 through to KOF XI she had much smaller breasts, but she also had much thinner shoulders etc, the point still stands that she was quite endowed in AOF2.

@Perion From AOF2 to 2002, her design was never centered on them. They were kept in place because they were more or less a necessary part of her design. She was a good character because she was defined by what she did, and how she fought. Not how good she'd be for otakus to titfuck.

@Lioyd1rving I don't see how her character is "centered" around her breasts, they're there, they're large like they've always been implied to be in her profile stats and in AOF2. (at one point even before 2003 she had an even larger bust measurement than Mai, though that wasn't represented on the sprite.) Now that they have made brand new sprites, it becomes viable for them to represent that. My only complaint is the same as Somebodyishere, that she's lost a great deal of her moves.

Yeah, good point. And I agree with you fully on the last point. While I like the art style of SF4, if a SF5 were to have an art style using HD sprites instead of 3D models, I'm sure it would look amazing.

@shadowzeek1 According to capcom they went as far as they could go with 2d. Check out sf3! You can go much further than that except to make it hd and all. 3d is the next logical step as it will evolve and move forward over time. It's about going far enough forward without alienating the audience.

@MANOFGOD9000 I disagree. SNK released some of their KOF games in 3D and they were terrible. SNK listened to their fans and brought the series back to 2D. Some games are just better in 2D. There are still plenty of tricks that can be done in 2D if you have the resources, the talent, and funding to accomplish it. I love Capcom just as much as the next guy, but there's no way they reached the limit of 2D. Look at BlazBlue, etc. 3D just makes it easier for Capcom to churn out useless updates. UMVC.

I've always enjoyed playing King, she has excellent normals and can dominate air to air. Despite losing her command throw and mirage kick King is still solid, especially considering her new stand b and slide kick which are both cancel-able now, giving her good low chains making her quite dangerous in the right hands.

They seemed to like King so much they gave her a plethora of tools. This time around they're trying to just give the minimum amount of tools for characters so people can use them to their fullest potential.

Then she got over it, avoiding almost all of the usual "fighting game chick" pitfalls in the process and staying a grade-AAA badass. Pretty awesome.
