This is "Panis Angelicus" but not the César Franck -version, I'd really like to know who is the composer... wonderful a capella singing anyway.

There are several types of Christian chant, and this really annoys me as I KNOW I SHOULD KNOW what type this is but the word simply disappeared! D'oh!

Just goes to show you don't have to be religous to recognize fantastic vocal work. This is one of the finest examples of vocal harmonizing I've ever heard. I am Catholic, but it wouldn't matter if I wasn't because this is an absolute joy to hear.

actually, crazywales, this type of music experienced a resurgence in popularity in the mid 1990's. i dont recall if "Enigma" or (the benedictine)"Chant" came first, but both were selling millions of albums featuring chant music. but yes, Halo has it in the intro music, also some in-game music. so you dont think my correction missed your point, if very young people are now being exposed to good music and culture through a video game that's definitely a plus.

There are rarely any music out there that really lifts your emotions and touches you emotionally. I've noticed with classical music (check out Mozart- requiem)as an example, it really really gets you feeling emotional. I don't know what it is in the music, but it's just beautiful.
