I am glad a local bar has this very special pinball operating. I spent all my last month free time there and i think in few minutes i am going there, order a tea and play for few hours. Medieval madness rules!
We had MM in cafeteria of the base when I was doing my military service in 2001-2002. Game was so epic, I would like to buy one for my self but finding it might be impossible.
It's really fun, whether you are good or not. So much action, and great sounds and movement. I used to play this all the time in college, and they had the chance for free game at the end, set really easy, so you got a lot for your money, even if you didn't do well.
I miss the times where pinball machines were found everywhere. I can't find a single one around where I live now.
One thing that really disappointed me was that The Pinball Factory was going to reproduce this game and Cactus Canyon back in 2006, but that never happened because they sold their Bally/Williams rights to Planetary Pinball Supply Inc. about four years later.

dear god, I used to play this in the local pub. my best was somewhat around 183 million, but i never managed to fight for the kingdom. great game, great fun!
@xritschiex Me too. the farthest i got was 130 million with the first ball, up to the 6th castle and 4 extra balls. I thought i'd finally crack this damn pinball machine. No way... 160 million or something and all the 6 balls left fluked. Now i hate this damn machine...
@JadeTomZ Well, that obviously is a matter of opinion. While I enjoy ole' electro-mechanical Gottlieb games, and agree that people should play them, they are not the ones I "grew up with." So, they are not my favorite machines in the least. However, I would never say that they suck in any way and completely disagree with you about that.
I loooove this machine. I worked at a bowling alley in 1997 and we played this game like crazy. "It's not tragic, you've got Merlin's magic!" (Am I remembering that correctly? haha)
is there any other pinball tables like this one? i know attack from mars is similar and i like that one, i love the idea and simplisity of it like how you can just keep smashing the castle yet theres tons more things you can do that are simple too
@darkinertia2 A lot of pin tables are considered "fan layout" games (like T2, etc.). As for a "big thing in the middle to whack on"...yeah, Attack From Mars definitely. Monster Bash is a little like that also (and considered a "fan layout."). There are some others around.....Scared Stuff has the crate in the center, etc.,

@BoNursukker Ha ha. Yeah...most of the games from the 80s and 90s had a "winners don't do drugs" or something on them. I know of some people who actually created special ROMs to get rid of that screen. ha ha!
Medieval Madness has to be one of my favorite pinball games, i love hitting that damn castle, it never gets old. I was 12 years old when this game came out, i got myself a paper route and got myself 50 bucks a week, i spent every penny on this game..NEWAYS,GREAT COLLECTION! take it easy!

This is my favorite one on the Williams pinball hall of fame collection for the 360 and ps3. The gameplay, sounds, and humor are all just awesome. I'd love to have the real thing!
@GammaGoblinX They did a great job with that collection (both in recreating the tables and physics). I actually have the earlier Wii version. You know? :)
@spida1a You should get the 360 or PS3 version too. They added Medieval Madness, No Good Gofers, and Tales of the Arabian Nights. Plus it's in crisp HD.
Hey i was also wondering do you know if there has ever been a king of the hill pinball. I think if there hasnt that show could make a very good pinball game.

Thanks Spida. I too own a Medieval Madness. I bought mine for some big bucks, but I never regretted getting it. I also have Attack from Mars, and they both compliment each other. I would love to try Brian Eddy's other pinball game, The Shadow. Keep the vids coming. Very good production.
I do own The Shadow. It plays different than the other two you mentioned. But, I really enjoy the experience (if you can find one that's completely working.....lots of quirky toys on that one, ha ha).
So we finally get to see the man behind the man behind the voice of the face........w/e, my point is this is the first time I'm seeing your face in a video.
Your video made me think of something, Williams went under in 1999 and I'm sure most of the manufacturers did....which means no one is making pinball machine anymore....
So what happens in 200-500 years when this machines are all broken?
Well, when Williams went away.....Stern Pinball was still around. And, luckily, started to hire ex-Williams' employees to come in and restructure their system a bit. So, the stuff they have been producing in the last decade has been quite great. The future is uncertain, but as long as Stern is around (and in Chicago), pinball lives on in my honest opinion.
I'm sure the collectors out there, who have already produced amazing numbers of repro parts, will still be around 200 years from now. :)
Medieval Madness is definitely my favorite pinball machine. I was waiting for you to do a video on it when I saw it in your game room on the last video. Great video!
One thing I really like about spida1a is that he really cherishes stuff he bought years back and I think he keeps them more so from fond memories rather than for collection sake. Unlike me, I really regret selling off my old belongings.
Yes, most of what I collect or have is due to "nostalgia." You know? They all mean a lot to me. Though.....I have sold and had to re-buy some stuff over the years. :)
Great review spida! I used to have a pinball machine at my work place years ago, was so addictive! :) Video game wise I played a lot of Pinball Fantasies and Dreams on the Amiga back in the day, great games. From the same people that now make the Battlefield games, interestingly, good old DICE :)
Its funny I have never been a huge fan of pinball but your videos definitely gets me interested!
There is something really cool about pinball though, the hypnotic lights the voices it is a very surreal experience at times! reminds me soo much of the 80s!
In pinball, the ball-is-wild my friend. It's a different game every time. It's very organic and hard to replicate (including any home pinball translation you can ever find). You know?
I haven't picked one up that needed "shipped" in a long time. But......back then, freighting this game (because he was on the other side of the country) was about $200+ each.....IF I remember correctly.
I haven't paid for shipping on a game for a long time but I know those prices have gone up some. It all depends on who you use, where you're located, etc. You know?

I had a T2 at one point but was disappointed by its conditioned. So, I sold it hoping to get a better one later. I do have T3 at the moment, a great re-make by Stern.
i was never much of a pinball guy myself, but i did get seriously addicted to star wars - the phantom menace pinball game, when it came out.
i also remember the shadow , which you have in your collection, and i liked that game alot too. i actually liked the movie alot and felt williams did a great job of portraying the feel and essence of the movie and transferring it into that game.
I really like how you go in depth with your machines, the history behind it, their rarity, the gameplay, too many to list off so awesome video and i can't wait for the rest! =D

Maintenance can be, yes. It all depends on the wear / tear on the machine, what year it's from and what condition it is when you get it. You know?
I do not currently own a T2 but that will be part of my collection someday. I bought one at a point but was unhappy with its condition....so I sold it in hopes of getting a better one. LOL! :)

Seth of the NYC pinball league has a good condition Medieval Madness.
Speaking to Seth, he had also reminisced about playing MM during college.
His countenance changed during that memory and I swear an arcade was reflected in his eyes.

Yes, most of what I collect or have is due to "nostalgia." You know? They all mean a lot to me. Though.....I have sold and had to re-buy some stuff over the years. :)

Great review spida! I used to have a pinball machine at my work place years ago, was so addictive! :) Video game wise I played a lot of Pinball Fantasies and Dreams on the Amiga back in the day, great games. From the same people that now make the Battlefield games, interestingly, good old DICE :)

Its funny I have never been a huge fan of pinball but your videos definitely gets me interested!
There is something really cool about pinball though, the hypnotic lights the voices it is a very surreal experience at times! reminds me soo much of the 80s!

Ahh medieval madness that's one i got to play at a truckstop many years ago spida.That's still one of my all time favorites.
Beside being one i wish i could own but not now given it's value....
Best,that i can do for playing it home is on the williams pinball hall of fame collection on my PS3.

I haven't picked one up that needed "shipped" in a long time. But......back then, freighting this game (because he was on the other side of the country) was about $200+ each.....IF I remember correctly.
I haven't paid for shipping on a game for a long time but I know those prices have gone up some. It all depends on who you use, where you're located, etc. You know?
Plugged in, sometimes. Turned on, nope. :)

T2 rules! A Steve Ritchie classic.
I had a T2 at one point but was disappointed by its conditioned. So, I sold it hoping to get a better one later. I do have T3 at the moment, a great re-make by Stern.

nice collection you got there.
i was never much of a pinball guy myself, but i did get seriously addicted to star wars - the phantom menace pinball game, when it came out.
i also remember the shadow , which you have in your collection, and i liked that game alot too. i actually liked the movie alot and felt williams did a great job of portraying the feel and essence of the movie and transferring it into that game.

Great video! Is maintenance, when it needs to be done, really time consuming or expensive with these machines?
Also, do you have the Terminator 2 pinball machine? I've seen some footage of that one on Youtube, and it looks awesome!

Maintenance can be, yes. It all depends on the wear / tear on the machine, what year it's from and what condition it is when you get it. You know?
I do not currently own a T2 but that will be part of my collection someday. I bought one at a point but was unhappy with its condition....so I sold it in hopes of getting a better one. LOL! :)
