God you guy's know this music better than most folks I know. I'm impressed. I could join the chorus and say - a little tighter please, but it's unfair. Extremely good job.
Right now I'm in search of wacky phrasing for the hh and snare on the 9/8 part of Scatterbrain. Very tricky. Yours was a good try.
My only real criticism is that the son does not seem to into a real groove during his performance. I believe he has studied the albums & has the mechanics down, but this song has a lot of funk inside, and he doesn't seem to capture that. Otherwise, I think it's great that you guys are jamming together. My dad doesn't even play guitar, nor did I grow up living with him, so that's two bits in your favor.
Just wondering, do you pick every note in scatterbrain or is it more legato?? I'm just learning it at the min and am not sure which way to do it. Thanks
Every note is picked except the 4th phrase - the last five notes are a string bend up and down to a pull-off and the last two notes are a picked to a pull-off.
When the video is converted to FLV the more movement the noisier the picture will end up after compression... so we purposely kept things kind of stale that way. We just wanted to show how we could play it. We're not trying to "put on a show". Nuff said.
wow you very good drummer sin your other vids aswell keep it going well done the only little neg thing i would say in all respect is move about a bit nod your head that sort of thing look like you loving what you doing
No, we recorded everything at once, and just threw away the audio from the camcorder. It was easy to sync the recorded audio of the drums and guitar(from the hard drive) to the video footage. I touched up a couple of spots on the guitar track... but we can play it just like this live, anytime, anywhere. We'll be posting a couple more Beck tunes when I have time, using the same technique. It's my sons drumming ability that I want to be noticed.
nice dudes you guys are amazing...three things...what kinda mics are ya using and how much were they...also what guitar r ya playin?...altogether you guys are freekin sweet
Thanks dude, you are awesome...three things... I'm using Shure and Audio Technica vocal mics on the kit, odd but clearly it does work (contradictory to my username) I don't know how much they're worth, and my dad is using a Kramer Pacer Series guitar. Thanks again. Altogether, your comment was freakin encouraging.
After 30 years, you've brought 'Scatterbrain' back in the mix...and sounding as fresh as 1975...you two have the talent in the bloodline too. How about some more Jeff Beck? Keep up the great work!

Very very nice, but for the drum part on scatter brain it's a little slow. It's a hard song so it's understandable so just practice up and you'll nail it.
This is a video for our fellow musicians, to see us play it out (almost) note for note. It is not supposed to be "entertaining" in any other way. I suggest you look at some of the other 50 million posts on YouTube for that kind of thing. You seem to be a little "critical". What can YOU do?
