I contested a speeding ticket because I was doing between 65 and 73kmh in a 70kmh zone. Officer claimed that she caught up to my vehicle doing 84kmh and that I was doing the same speed as she was. How can you catch up to someone 400 metres ahead if you do the same speed as them? Took the matter to court, and the judge ruled against me, even though I pointed out that there had been no evidence served (no video, or GPS evidence presented). Apparently, judges give the benefit of doubt to the cops.
As a cop I can say from experience that issuing citations is not a personal attack. Cops don't "lie" about you speeding. There are MORE than enough speeders that cops have all they can handle stopping them without making something up for NO reason whatsoever. Youtube and the internet now gives a platform to every angry weirdo who ever got a ticket.
@CryptoDriver-Cops *do* lie and this one did. Not that night, he was just wrong: while chasing someone that passed me, all he could see was my truck, he pulled me over by mistake. He *lied* on the stand, saying he absolutely saw my truck & my license plate from the other side. When cross examined where he was when he spotted me & how he was able to catch a truck driving at 95 mph, his story fell apart. My EZpass statement placed me 18 miles away 18 min before, averaging 65mph per my statement.
@pfideo He is just doing his job. Do you think anyone wants to do more work then he has to especially in police case. Every time they pull someone over they put their lives on the line. Who know if someone has a gun or some other weapon or what their intentions are. Sure it doesnt happen all the time but its a risk I am sure these police do not take lightly. Now I just dont understand why he would pull you over for no reason. Risk his life just so he can make you pay up a couple bucks?
this really gets old im tired of getting pulled over america is becoming a really bad experience here and is reeally stupid go to court the cop is proven in the wrong and i still have to pay 800 bucks 600 on the second one why are we paying for thier mistake!?!?! i drive a 95 corsica custom build and a 99 grand am nothing custom on this one what a waist of 2 perfect days to get some sleeping in before work but no gotta be at the ch at 8 am
Your first mistake was argueing witht the officer. Raising your voice to the offer doesnt help your situation either. If he writes you up a ticket thats for the court to decide if the ticket is justified. Thas why you go to court for traffic violation to argue against it. Another thing...by getting out of your vehicle your lucky you didnt get shot! One false move towards your pocket and you would not be posting videos to say the least.
@dbrewer. um actually the NJSP was formed in 1921, which was 15 years before the nazi party was formed. The uniform design was taken from Imperial German army uniforms because of their ability to look good while remaing practical.so you could compare the german military uniform of 1936 to 1945 to the design of the NJSP uniform. Next time know what your talking about.
Slow the fuck down ya fucking moron! The speed limit is 65mph! You should have gotten a ticket doing 70mph as far as I am concerned. Wasting tax payers money 'cause you feel the need to speed is a waste. Yer an asshole!
You were speeding and got caught. Stop your bitchin' and your attitude is pure shit. No wonder the trooper gave you a ticket. I'm suprised you didn't get your ass kicked approaching the trooper the way you did. You are lucky and except that.
He lied on the stand.. he perjured himself to win the case. Do YOU think that's wrong? BTW, he didn't win anyway because on cross, he got confused and actually said "I gave out 130 tickets last week, how do you expect me to remember that?" after just testifying that he clearly rememberd it was my truck going over 90 from a long distance.
Just so you know... it was NOT me, it was a white car that almost killed me as he blew by me at over 100, proved by the video responses.
I was just having some raging arguements with cops who say they do not have to follow the 4th ammed. to the US Constitution and can arrest you for "obstruction' for asking the reason for the stop before the papers are provided. That is a real threat to freedom. I think the best response is "officer you are voilating my rights and under threat of false arrest I'm forced to show my papers before being advised of the reason for this stop. Be advised a compliant will be filed for this...
i don' have nothing against cops some of my friends are nypd and ny state troopers but i can't stand jersey state troopers they have got to be some of the biggest jerks last time i went threw jersey i got pulled over for doing 55 in a 65 this dumbass said i was going to slow in the right lane not to mention i was driving a tour bus and this same idiot was the same one who gave us the police esscort to the arena
People need to become educated about thier rights as USA citizens. Why is civics classes not pushed harder in school? Why do people not report EVERY police officer who pulls them over, demands thier papers, and gives no reason for the stop, or worse, searches them without/against thier consent etc? If you do not USE YOUR RIGHTS you will LOSE YOUR RIGHTS. For goodness sakes if you watch Cops (Realty TV Show) you will see that most people end up getting arrested because of thier own mouth!
According to the dash cam, the trooper pulled you over around 11:56, not 12:00. He probably wrote up the ticket at 12:00. So if you passed the toll at 11:42 like you said, that would mean you traveled 18 miles in 14 minutes, indicating a speed of over 77 mph. Not to mention that's after you slowed down, so you were probably going over 80 mph. Nice try tho.
The video time was off by 4 minutes, according to my GPS, the time on the ticket, and the time on the video itself as read back by the station. Obviously no one checks the clock in the video recorder. The times I have are all based on the time on the ticket which exactly coincides with the time on my GPS as well. GPS doesn't lie... it calculates distance with differences of billionths of a second, it isn't off 4 minutes!
"sir um i saw somebody pass me on the right doin about 80 miles an hour"
"he video shows, after watching carefully, a second car (in this case a so-called smoking gun or grassy knoll) which was speeding over 90 MPH and almost hit me!"
pfideo if you somehow did beat this case, all I can say is good for you...you have clearly cheated the criminal justice system...as mentioned in the previous comments I absolutely doubt that there was any other car that dangerously passed you on this road
I have watched this video many times and have still never been able to visualize the other vehicle that you claim "was speeding over 90 MPH and almost hit me!"
tdd87 > ".. never been able to visualize the other vehicle .."
Same here. Can see taillights several hundred feet further up road, but no vehicle close enough to confuse the cop.
However, the most significant thing here is his brake lights coming on (and staying on for several seconds) just after he passed the cop - just after his truck enters the video. If he was going the speed limit when cop caught up with him, he obviously braked from something much faster to get to that speed.
So... take at look at the other supporting videos in "video replies" and you will see that someone else found the second car in the video for me. Yes, it was just in front of me as the cop turned into the express lane. The fact that he was long gone and I wasn't passing him should be enough to prove my point, but you can prove with math an approximate speed for the other car.
"intimidate and prey on drivers like me"? dude it was raining out and you were haulin ass. then the guy is being respectful to you and you lie right to his face " i think i was goin 65" that was bullshit and you know it. then you get out of your car and walk up to his to argue with him? your lucky you went home that night instead of jail. next time dont be stupid
Dude... try driving under 65 mph on the NJ Parkway... you will get run off the road. I had my cruise control set at 65, that was proven in court by the EZ pass... 18 miles away 18 minutes before. Respectful? Every word was yes sir. I couldn't answer when he asked me a no-win question... "why were you driving so fast?" This ASSHOLE that should NOT be wearing a badge lied in court and it was so obvious the prosecutor backed off and gave me a sweet deal.
Everyone can learn somthing from your experience: 1) Purchase a quality Radar/Laser Detector. The Valentine One is the best in the world 2) Laser Jammer 3) Laser Viel Paint 4) Nav Alert Speed Camera and MOST IMPORTANT 5) a basic camera system. You might think this is expensive but the insurance hike from ONE TICKET over a 3-5 year period can exceed thier costs. These items are a great investment in your finances and safety. Citizens need to protect themsleves (and thier money) from the Police.
Advice. Speak when given the opportunity. Never over the trooper. Be truthful. 100% honest. NEVER raise your voice and lying is futile. Lastly....NEVER exit your vehicle....EVER.
in all honesty i didn't see anything... wtf are you pointing out.. if a cop tells you to do something, you fucken do it. you got three tickets cause your dumbass couldn't comply with the officer. its the stigma everyone has the cops are dicks.. some of them are but they are people, and if you are mean to people they're not going to be chipper and nice to you
Any cop that perjurers himself is worse than an idiot, he is a danger to our Constitution and to freedom. He broke the law in court, and he LOST because we was lying and was caught.
"Hand me the paperwork then I'll answer any questions you may have!!!"
Where do they train / get these cops from?
In a normal traffic stop the police are REQUIRED BY LAW to tell you WHY they pulled you over. Watch the ACLU video. This is NOT Nazi Germany. Police cannot just pull you over and demand to see your papers. They are REQUIRED BY LAW to state the REASON for the stop first BEFORE requesting paperwork
I cannot even believe you'd actually try and stand up for this inconsiderate driver. OBVIOUSLY he was wrong in every way possible. You think by throwing up a couple words in CAPITALS makes the point you're trying to prove any more valid? You, my friend, need to step back from the world of R-Tard and get your head examined.
Give me some examples of how "he was wrong in every possible way". My point is valid. In normal traffic stops the police are required to state the reason for the stop FIRST. That is standard operating procedure. The U.S Constitution with protects citizens against this. That is very valid. If the police pull you over and demand your papers - the proper response is "what is the reason for the stop today officer?". They must provide the reason for the stop.
Yes.. all I was trying to do was to let the officer know that the crazy driver that almost just killed me was still out there... and perhaps he could radio ahead to stop that driver. I was NOT wrong... I was protecting my rights and in fact I was NOT speeding... the cop made a mistake. worse yet, he LIED on the stand against me, perjured himself on the stand to prosecute a safe driver: no paints and no accidents for over 10 years. I'm not the kind of guy doing 95 in a rainstorm in a truck!
LeftLiberalSoCal > ".. REASON for the stop first BEFORE requesting paperwork .."
Sorry, but both you and the ACLU (if that is indeed what they said) are flat wrong. In fact, police can ask for your paperwork (registration, license, and insurance) even if you've done absolutely nothing wrong. You agreed to those conditions on the drivers license application or on the form signed when receiving that license. You can also likely find a reference to it in your state's vehicle code.
Police may ask for your identification yes. However registration, license and auto insurance are all related to your automobile and driving privledges. US Constituation article IV: "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated" . In addition Police SOP states they must provide the REASON for the stop. This isn't Nazi Germany. Police cannot just pull people over and demand thier papers.
Yes. The cop had a reason for pulling him over. Yes. Ok? I'm not disputing that. I'm disputing the fact the cop not follow police procedure; which has it's roots in US Constituation article IV; by informing him of the reason for the stop. Worse - he flat out refused. In normal conditions the police officer must inform you for the reason for the stop BEFORE he demands your papers. That is the first and formost thing police officers are supposed to do. Why are you arguing with me about that?
You are absolutely wrong u idiot u have no clue what u r talking about. A driver is required to give credentials before he is told anything or he will be arrested for obstruction, but u can try it and see where that gets you lol
Obstruction of what? What is he obstructing? SHOW ME ONE CASE where the judge upheld what you said. It's SOP in NORMAL TRAFFIC STOPS to advise the citizen WHY they have been stopped first, THEN to request ID. The reason is because of the 4th ammd of the US Constitution! This is NOT NAZI GERMANY you PIG. You cannot just demand papers for no given reason and if your pattern of conduct (complaints etc) demonstrates otherwise you could be reprimanded / transferred / let go from your job.
If you believed that you were correct why would you put your life and the life of others in danger by getting out of your car to argue with the Trooper? Next time just take the tickets and bring your opinion to court.
Additionally, he did reference the other car "I find it hard to believe that car passed you at 80" he said. You also became argumentative with the trooper immediately when he asked for your docs. While he was a little bit of a hardass, becoming argumentative on a traffic stop will never help your situation whether guilty or innocent. That's why they have the courts.
I've watched this video several times. First let me just say that I have no bias here. 1) The vehicle you are pointing was about 300-500 feet in front of you when you slammed on the brakes and at the same time it was as you passed the trooper and slowing down which shows guilt. 2) The trooper said "No car passed you on the right" not "No other cars were on the road." Conclusion: You and the other vehicle were both speeding (maybe him a little faster) but you got caught. It happens.
Dang-Gumm, Son! What'd you do--forget his anniversary? That dirty German's worser'n my wife on Amish Potluck Sunday. See She was gonna bring one of them spinach casserole souffle deals one time, and, well I accidentally let the thing burn, see. Ever since then, I go in the dawg house ever third week of every month: "My beard's too long"; and "my toe nails"; "I smell like the sheep again"; and I "need to change my socks"; and "Leave my scatter gun home for god's sakes!" Next time, buy him flaurs.
you are INOCENT! it is hard to tell but when you look closely it is obvious that you moved over to the right blocking the police officers view of the speeding(second car) and he made a HUGE MISTAKE.
i quess what i mean to say is, in the days we live in now, people will break in your house needing money for drugs, and calling 911 will not save your life, only your personal weapon will, cops are only there to carry out the dead bodies, it's your responsibility to protect yourself not the cop listening to music on the clock who doesn't give a damn about you, ETA to your house after 911, 10 minutes, to the officer's buddies house ASAP under one minute, SEE the difference !
clearly the problem here is the hot shot wannabe bully cop was too busy listening to heavy metal music to be paying attention to the speeder who blew past you, the cops reaction time clearly shows that, very professional to be able to listen to trash music while on duty, that's why i legally carry and conceal a 1911
.45 auto, cops won't save your life, afterwards, MOST of them will just make a joke of you while your on the ground dead every law abiding citizen should carry and conceal, ur life
Alright, first of all you were very disrespectful to the officer. You shouldn't have argued with him. You can argue all you want in court. And then you got out of your car? Are you insane. That was the stupidest thing you could possibly do. You should feel ashamed of yourself. In my mind you are guilty.
As for everyone bitching because you're still "whining", I'm glad you uploaded the video. It gives a good demonstration of some police abusing their power. Respect is earned, not demanded - and I know quite a few people who don't give two fucks about cops. Hope everything worked out.
i pray that cop gets colon cancer. and every other cop that is like this. i also pray the lawmakers burn in hell, and everyone that stands for 'guilty untill proven innocent'
some say i stereotype cops. truth be told, cops stereotype us, and we see them this way, because they made us see them this way.
im not speaking for everyone, just the majority. and that says enough.
Knowing when to speak, what to say, and how to act can drastically reduce the fines! Play cool, know your rights, and be diplomatic and they just may let you go. I have been let go with no ticket after being clocked at over 100 because I played it out cool! Just gotta play cool, but never give up your rights. Never get out of the car unless asked to do so!
And you my fiend (sic) sound like one of these bully assholes who would go around beating up the smart kids in class. Does intimidating and beating on other people compensate at all for your bedwetting? How does it feel to know that 50.000 people out there now know about this? And how does it feel to know that by verbally putting other people down it does nothing to them, but it is demeans yourself?
Ane I almost forgot I am gonna add a new one for you- who knows may eventually go through the whole alphabet if I feel up to it
F- The only reason I am sure you won the trial I'm sure is becasue the prosecutor and the judge couldnt put up with your wha wha wha wha anymore- You have a lovely night
What an asshole! Trust me... the PA wanted to cook me. When the cop wet his pants on the stand because, after lying, my lawyer caught him in a lie, the PA was falling over himself with a deal for me...
This info and "blog" is here for other people who might be in the same position and might benefit from it.
I'm not bitchin'. This video is here so people know that police lie, they lie on the stand and care more about being right than the law. I protected myself and won, that is the story here.
Glad you won. People walk around thinking they have "rights" in your country. They don't know how (un)real those right really are until they're tested, if they even have the money to contest a wrong to begin with.
There's a lot of un-American things that happen in court. It's a bad justice system in this country. Keep that Bible close to you, though. Remember that no matter what this country does to you they cannot take away your faith and the One True Judge will reward you in the Afterlife if you have been wronged here on earth. And that's all the matters in the end.
ok, so the video is bad, but my guess is that the officers eyes are better. so - the evidence is bad, but if there was another car, my guess is he would have seen it
Sorry, I didn't mean to delete your other comment, repost if you like. I tried to hit reply but I'n hot used to the pointer on this new laptop. Anyway... The point of this message here isn't that I hate NJ, nor do I hate police. I love my state, I've lived here and giving up opportunities that would require me to move. Yet, in this case, I'm complaining that a cop screwed up; rather than admit it, he covered it by manufacturing a lie then purjuring himself on the stand. That to me is a problem!
I'm sure you would be singing a different story if YOU were the one pulled over by mistake, and had your license taken away. So easy to dump on other people when you are doing well; I'm trying to alert people of a real problem here, and encourage them to fight. That is the purpose of this video and interaction. What is the purpose of your message?
from what i observe, he ws using black victim honesty. basically him wanting you to say "yes sir i was speeding but keeping up with the vehicle passing or others" see cops look at it like this, you can go fishing but cant catch all of them. he didnt have radar but however he may be certified in vehicle speed. yes some states they can do this. now where i can see he may be wrong, the trooper in some parts, not all, the driver you shouldnt leave your vehicle. many videos show why on youtube.
Pfideo, i dont see a second car man. sorry as for the time on you pass and the time on the ticket well no clock is the same look at the time on the dash cam when the dispacher say's 12 O'clock that point is not really all that valid. i am glad things worked out for you in court. second as a police officer myself i am like this trooper when i am talking dont interrupt me. you did that a few times that may have something to do with why he treated you the way he did?
Yes, the clock on the video camera in the car was off by a fixed amount. And I agree in principle that keeping my mouth shut is a good idea, but he was asking me very specific questions, and he just didn't like my answers. In his mind I was guilty, period. What blew my mind is when he purgered himself on the stand, and lied lied lied!!!
I'm curious about a few things. First, why didn't the State Trooper have radar? I was under the impression that was standard-issue for NJSP.
I'm also wondering why he walked off like that (the trooper). I was taught that an officer is required, by law, to inform you why you've been pulled over and to explain the tickets, and to provide an opportunity to ask questions or request a supervisor/commanding-officer. Is that not the case?
Popo, as a police officer i can tell you it may not have been that he did not have a radar in the car it may have been he was not sitting at the right angle to get the moving car. Second no a police officer doe not have to let you speak to a supervisor while on a traffic stop there are many reason for this the most important one is safety for you and the officer. the long on the side of the road the more chance there is of a crash.
Popo, (sorry ran out of room on last reply) the trooper does try and explain on why he stopped the vehicle and it is stated for speeding. the trooper does not explain the tickets because he is being talked over and if you have ever gotten a ticket all the info is written on the ticket or a paper given with the ticket. and no on a stop i do not always give the person a chance to question that a lot of times opens a can of worms and leads back to the safety of being on the side of the road.
Thanks for the explanation. The reason that this officer didn't get me on radar was that I was in the express lane, he was in the local lane, and he couldn't get a "lock" on the speeding car because it was so far away. This is also why he confused my lights for the lights of the car... when he finally got near the car, speeding away to escape, he found me instead as the car was in front of me. When I pulled to the right, I blocked his view of the car.
It's true, there are police officer that make mistakes and are often unaware of them. Unfortunately, even when the police are wrong, they have their minds made up completely in full at the scene of any incident, so filing a complaint against the officer or going to court over the matter is the only way to resolve your situation. If ever you get stopped by the police, you have to remember this: NO MATTER HOW WRONG THE OFFICER IS AND HOW RIGHT YOU ARE THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IS NOT THE PLACE TO ARGUE
I didn't see a second vehicle. My opinion is you were speeding even at 65 due to the inclement weather. Yes the trooper may have been an ass, but you're lucky you didn't get your ass tazered and sent to jail or worse. It could have escalated quickly.
Your page states you are a hypnotist, why didn't you use that? haha. No, I feel bad for you, I think he probably had his share of a##holes that night and you just happened to be the straw that broke the camel's back. If I were an officer though, I would be scared as hell when you got out of your truck. They risk their lives out there everyday with crazies, they never know what's in your head.
I agree, I appreciate very much what officers do for us. However, this particular officer actually LIED on the stand! He was proven wrong by my lawyer.
I carefully considered getting out of the car, but I did so because I wanted to know what time the officer pulled me over. It turns out, that knowing that was critical to my case. I walked slowly with my hands up.
Yes, of course the time was on the ticket, but at the time, having just been in a near-miss accident with a speeding car then pulled over for a very serious violation that I didn't commit, I acted on impulse. My blood was 10% adrenaline!
he was'nt trying to intimidate you at all, and i don't think he was rude to you. the only thing that pissed him off is your mouth! i'm not buying your bullshit story, and i don't care what happened in court, they probably just dismissed it because they were tired of watching you cry and listening to you whine.
i think he was SUPER calm with you. you annoyed me and i was'nt even there. you kept interupting while he was calmly trying to talk and explain things to you. i completely agree with CornNugget44 on this one, never ever ever get out of your vehicle and walk toward a patrol car especially if he told you to stay in the car and you two were not getting along all that great anyhow. officers will concider that an aggressive move, and that will get you in situations you don't want to be in!
He was playing a game... intimidate me into confessing. But I didn't confess and that annoyed him. Well, it was proven in court that he got the wrong guy, and he was a rude SOB. I was there, you weren't.
It was an extremely unwise decision on your part to get out of your vehicle and walk back to the troopers car. Regardless if you put your hands up in the air or not. When I conduct a traffic stop and the driver proceeds to get out of their vehicle I assume it is to do me harm and I immediately place them at gun point. Officer safety is more important that your feelings. Furthermore, you also could have struck by a pick-up truck going 90 mph in the express lane.
you need to tell the judge that there is no proof that i was speeding if he had no radar evidence. You are innocent, "till proven guilty"! You also noted that the other car was going 80 with no radar!
i did see a car infront of his truck on the right lane!It doesnt show that he passed you though! You were speeding and thats all!"GUILTY" for speeding!10 years in jail!lol
This video should be training of how NOT to treat a state trooper after being pulled over. Did you really think arguing with him on the side of the road was going to get you anywhere?
Yes... in court my ticket was reduced from thousands of dollars of penalty to only a 2 point violation. And, WTF do you mean by argue? He asked me why I was driving at 90 MPH. Should I just agree with him?
The guy acted like a horses ASS both in court AND on the road. He lied under oath! A bold outright lie! But... the judge didn't believe him because he contradicted himself several times. Even the prosecuter knew that, because they dropped 12 point violation to 2 points!
The timestamp on the video is 23:55 at the time he pulls you over, five minutes earlier than you stated. If your EZPass says 11:42, then you travelled 18 miles in 13 minutes, which adds up to 83MPH.
However, the cop obviously had a bug up his ass and he should have allowed you to speak your piece in case you might incriminate yourself, but he felt you are hurting his case and he needs to fulfill his quota.
FYI: The time on the video was wrong. That is very clear because when the voice on the radio states the time, there is about a 5 minute difference. Also, the time on the ticket reflects the time I was pulled over, finally matched by my GPS (accurate to within 1000th of a second). In court no one ever mentioned the time on the video as "proof" of anything. Apparently, they don't give much importance to that clock as 5 minutes off is a pretty big number. It works as a "relative time" indicator.
Yes, 5 mins is a big difference in your situation. That cam clock should be syncronized daily to make sure it's always accurate.
I'm sure you are following the Shaun Malone case in Cali. It will be interesting to see what happens with that. I don't see how the court could ignore his GPS evidence.
No, in Jersey there are express lanes seperated by the regular lanes. The only difference is they don't have exits so cars arent constantly merging into and off the road which makes it "express." The cops was in the regular lane, the driver was in the express lane.
[Posted by nytmstr and accidently "removed" instead of "replied"]
Traffic on the GSP regularly moves at about 80 to 85 mph, and the NJSP doesnt bother you at these speeds on a few conditions, A= weather conditions, and B= if you are weaving in and out of traffic driving like an ass. So to say you were doing 65, I dont believe that. Also you got out of you vehicle and approached the troopers car. That is a very stupid thing to do especially after you knew he was pissed off.
my cruise control was set to 65 which was proven by the EZ pass evidence accepted by the judge. The cop pulled me over because he was chasing a second car which passed me while we were both occuled by a bridge. The cop jumped onto the same road, he couldn't see the car because it was in front of me & he thought I was the only other vehicle out there, and he pulled me over. That more or less came out in court, and the prosecutor dropped the penalty to driving at 66mph, I pled guilty, we are done.
Now if you were so smart you would have taken a different approach. It was raining which affects the radar. It only effects it slightly, but its enough that the courts have said that radar is not allowed as evidence when rain is present.
As you have only read this page, you may know know that the cop had no radar on me. Also, the reason I almost had an accident was that I was driving too slow relatively; another car was driving well ABOVE my speed. Despite conditions, most cars were "swishing" past me. It is equally unsafe to have a big speed difference with traffic around you. If you ever drive on the GSP, you know 80 is "normal".
Since the cop didn't have radar on me and was caught lying, the PA all but dropped the charges.
The problem with the police profession is that they don't need proof to convict you of anything, so any mistake they make is done, you're screwed. Plus it's in their training to not admit that they made the mistake.
What I see is your brake lights coming on (towards the end of 0:01) and remaining on for a full six seconds (ending at 0:07) as you slowed down. A person doing 90mph could, with decent brakes, come to nearly a complete stop within that time period. If a court sees that, you don't have a chance of beating this ticket. By the way, the E-Z Pass, your GPS claims, and so on, prove nothing. Distance covered following E-Z Pass, for example, doesn't prove you weren't speeding at that one moment.
If I average 60 MPH for 18 miles (and thereby also 18 minutes) if the officer followed me for 5 minutes, which he alleges, then the other 13 minutes I was driving less than 45 MPH! So, imagine a guy driving on the highway at a consistant 45 MPH then bursting onto 95MPH just as a cop appears. Does that make any sense? Your right it does PROVE that I wasn't doing 95, but certainly indicated it as a more like scenerao. My GPS clearly showed my max speed, I was offering the officer to see it.
Look, I feel for you, but your argument just doesn't convince me. First, it's a little hard to believe the cop mistook a pickup truck for the sedan he was trying to follow. Second, the weather was bad so you certainly could have been driving slow earlier and sped up as the weather cleared enough to allow that. Finally, I just don't see any motivation for the cop to lie. All that, combined with the telltale brake lights on your truck in the video, just weighs too heavily against you. Sorry.
Do you have any idea how dangerous it is to drive less than 55 on the Garden State Parkway? I doing 65 and almost run off the road by the speeding car! Here is what happened: The cop was on the other side of the road... A car blows by at 95 or 100 mph. He sees light and start after them. Under a bridge, he looses the lights for a second as he slows down to cross over from the local to express lanes and the car passes me. He sees lights & pulls me over.He does NOT see the car's lights, only mine.
Well, I wasn't there, so obviously can't really say. There is only the video and your version of the story. The video doesn't really help you. And I can only guess what his version of the story might be. So, I'll leave it with what I've already said. Good luck to you.
Thanks for the feedback & good wishes. FYI, this was resolved: After the EZ pass information was allowed by the judge, the prosecuter panicked and offered me a deal I couldn't resist. But, the sad thing here is that the cop lied on the stand and stated things that were simply not possible (and later on, when cross examined, said "How could I remember so long ago, when I wrote 130 tickets last week!" What a jerk he is!) Anyway, the prosecuter all but let me off because of that & the EZ pass info.
1) You weren't speeding. 2) how in the hell did you get this video? I have a recent ticket for speeding which i know i wasn't. and 3) THAT OFFICER IS AN IDIOT. IF HE WANTS TO TALK ABOUT SPEEDING... LETS TALK ABOUT THE WRECKLESS DRIVING AND SPEEDING HE DID JUST TO CATCH UP WITH YOU!!!
Ask for "Discovery" and make sure you find out if there is a video. They HAVE to give it to you, but you will be asked to pay some annoying amount of money for it.
The Trooper did absolutely nothing wrong. You were speeding, you got caught now deal with the consequences of your actions. You cannot handle being wrong so your defense mechanism was to get mouthy with a trooper, and guess what, you lost! So take off your skirt and stop your moaning.
I guess you didn't read anything. I didn't loose... I compromised a little to save another trip back to court, but after facing 18 months without a license, I got off with a slap on the wrist. And do you know why? It was because the judge was siding with me and the prosecuter panicked. And do you know why> Because both he and the cop knew I was innocent: because I was NOT speeding!
Xterra, The point is that I DID argue in court and for the most part I won. And I did NOT argue in the car... except when he asked WHY I WAS SPEEDING. If I answered that question without an argument I would have been admitting guilt. I was trying to give the cop evidence that I couldn't possibly have been speeding but he played mind games. He was rude and crude!
Ok, I'll give you the typo, but fuck you make a lot of them. But you guys disagreed. Bottom line. I don't see where he was an asshole. He sounded annoyed. So. You never showed where the officer lied. You came across as somewhat of a dick, but nothing overly egregious. The thing is, when you get stopped, you're only going to talk yourself into more tickets if you take your approach. But fuck, you guys disagreed. You went to court and paid your fine. Get the fuck over it already.
The cop lied in court, on the stand, and said that he had a light on me and clearly saw that it was my truck speeding. THAT is what pissed me off. The speeder was a white car that almost killed me, all I wanted was for the officer to radio it in and perhaps stop that white car from killing someone. He was driving over 100 MPH in a storm.
First, if you look at the video reply where I analyze the video, you will see a light moving relative to the signs just in front of me.
Now, simple logic... if there are two cars, and one is speeding at 95+MPH, which one will be in front of you when you cross over the divider? Not Mr. 95 MPH! Just me.
Why did I hit the brakes? Because suddenly in the middle of the night, after a near accident, my body full of adrenlin, a bright light is in my truck...it was a reaction as in "WTF is going on!"
Well, it's been good talking to you. I would hope that if you weren't the one who was speeding it was an honest mistake on the officer's part. There's no satisfaction in giving the wrong person a ticket. I've never knowingly given someone a ticket who didn't deserve it. Good luck to you and God Speed. (joke)
I can "get" an error, but I still feel bad the officer so blatently lied on the stand. He didn't see me doing 95 period! THAT wasn't an error, that was an attempt to save face at the cost of justice, at my cost! I've spoken to many officers, including my cousin, who told me that the prosecuter should have thrown this out, and that he personally would have only issued a warning if he didn't have radar on me. Well, live and learn.
The dumb ass is the man who answers the cop when asked "Why were you speeding." Everything else I answered with polite terms and "yes sir no sir." When he asked why I was going fast, I told him I wasn't and he became angry at me. WTF do you expect me to answer to that? The cop saw me remove my seatbelt, then he asked why I wasn't wearing a seatbelt. You weren't there... I was. Stop being a dumbass Monday morning quarterback.
Yes, I hear an asshole too... it the farting sound that your words are making. So, 1) HOW the fuck am I supposed to know that your name is spelled Vinnie when your user name is the possessive form? 2) I find it quite humorous and fitting in your complaining about my grammar/English, I guess you spend time replying to assholes and use a grammar/spell check. Yes, that was a typo. I guess in your world that "proves" my guilt once again.
Obviously, you have no clue what you're talking about. The officer in this video may have an attitude, but so does the driver. He can't expect to give the cop shit and not get any in return. Tough shit. Oh and fuck you too.
Obviously you like to make assumptions about people because you're a cop and that makes you ultra-fucking-smart and right all the time. The driver didn't want a ticket, understandable. The driver was trying to explain himself. The cop, doesn't want to hear it because his cop intelligence makes him right all the time. You have a shit attitude Vinnie. You and officers like you are why people out there hate cops.
No, it's because we get sick of people flat out lying. We sit and watch people blow through red lights, stop signs, or school zones and then they'll call us liars. Knowing damn good and well that they did it. Argue in court, that's the forum for arguing, not on the side of the road. If you try and show the cop up on the side of the road, you're going to lose. Most of the time, if you're polite, as with me, you'll get a reduction or maybe even a written warning. We're not all assholes.
Thanks for proving my point. Basically you just said everyone you pull over is guilty and if they try to explain their view of the situation they are lying. I know not all cops are assholes, but not all citizens are liars Vinnie. Some cops have that figured out. Then there's assholes like you that think they never make mistakes and they're always right.
As far as people lying, I have them constantly making up shit about me and other officers. They forget of course that there's a video tape. They come in and bitch and say "He called me an asshole and told me to shut the fuck up." My Sgt. says, "Fine, let's watch the video tape." Their dumb ass then goes "Uh, video tape? I didn't know that there was a video tape" They're just pissed off b/c they got a ticket. I've had 19 complaints that ended EXACTLY like that. Now tell me motorists don't lie.
I have no problem with cops in general. But, all your comments on here are negative and full of anger. It tells me a lot about what kind of cop you are. Get off your high fucking horse Vinnie, you're nothing special and no one is impressed with you.
You're absolutely right. I know they're guilty when I stop them, otherwise I wouldn't stop them. I don't see what you're bitching about. What's the point of stopping someone who I think isn't guilty? What purpose does that serve? If I see someone blow through a light, yeah, I think they're guilty. No shit. As far as the kind of cop I am, you have no idea the awards that I have received. The compliments that I get. I speak my mind and am honest with people.
Oh, Vinny, Vinny, Vinny... It does indeed seem that you can't read, nor can you listen. In the video, the driver, ME, answered every question with "Yes sir, no sir, OK sir" etc. When I was ask "Why I was I speeding" I told him that I wasn't. That is when he became abusive. I guess to you, if I don't admit I'm guilty that means I'm giving him show. Why stop a car that isn't speeding? He made a simple mistake of identity, but despite all the evidence around, he couldn't admit his mistake.
Obviously, you can't read or spell. It's Vinnie, not Vinny and I don't understand "Why I was I speeding?" Is that English? I never saw the officer as "abusive". You guys had a disagreement and you were trying to argue with him. Pfideo, pfideo, pfideo.... I listen just fine. I hear an asshole.
Then you read nothing. I'm not "bitching" at all, I'm simply trying to demonstrate to some people that fighting a wrong can mate it more right, even when cop lies and prosecutor lies. If I was a "speeder" how would I have a perfectly clean license for over 10 years? And tehre was a second car. And the Prosecutor gave up in the end.
Step 1: Read comments Step 2: Make comments. Or to quote "Intelligence is 2 parts listen and/or read, 1 part comment." I see you aren't suffering from intelligence.
I never said this is the worst thing that happened to me. The point of having this video here is: 1) You can fight a bogus ticket and win 2) Cops will LIE to you, intimidate you and do other things to trick you into saying things that they can use in court. The rule is: drive safely and when you are pulled over, KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT ALL THE WAY! Be polite but do NOT allow searches without a warrant.
Since the cop lied under oath and because of that, the judge might have taken away my license for 6 to 9 months! While this isn't a reason to jump from my balcony, it is a nasty injustice that would have served only to inflate the ego of a liar cop and the ego of a very nasty prosecutor by the name of "Michael D. Fitzgerald PA" who, for some reason would not even discuss a plea with my lawyer until the evidence was in... then he begged that I take a 2 point penalty (I did to avoid losing work).
So, is this the worst thing that could happen to me? No. But is it a nasty piece of wasted time? Yes! I'm hoping other people can learn and benefit from my experience.
what a fucking asshole cop thats all i have to say cant u fucking dicks give people some leaniency shit just cause ur a cop doesnt mean your always right truthfully most of the time ur wrong blowing things way out of proportion dont get me wrong ive dealt with some of the coolest cops there not all bad and corrupt i own a ls1 formula firebird and ive had cops tell me " show me what that thing can do" and i did and the cop did nothing but wave to me as i peeled out all the way down the street
I'm truly sorry you had this experience. As a law enforcement officer I always try to keep in mind that everything I do has an effect on someone's life. Sometimes it is difficult to keep emotions or adrenaline out of the equation, but I try to make sure that whether I'm writing someone a ticket, or taking them to jail, I am doing the right thing. Because it does have an adverse effect on that person's life, and I for one prefer to have a clear conscience.
Thank you for your heartfelt comment. This is why I'm leaving this here, so people can understand this from both points of view. Is is a very honest thing for an officer in the heat of the moment to mistake one car for another and assume the driver is lying... to go the extra step to be AWARE like you are of these effects and compensate for them... well, may I suggest that you write a book? The effect of the MOMENT is quite real, and needs to be understood by both sides..
What kind of bullshit is that? You must be a corrections officer or something. I don't know any patrolman who identify themselves as law enforcement officers. The driver was an asshole and the cop was an asshole back. So what. Fuck him. Pay his ticket and quit fuckin' crying.
Well, Mr. DeathSquad. You are right and wrong. I am not a CO. I'm not technically a patrolman anymore either. For the last three years I've been Captain for the Road Deputy Division. Prior to that I was a Detective for seven years. Prior to that I was a Squad Sergeant for two years. Prior to that I was a Road Deputy for four years, three of those on the county's SWAT team (SRT). I think with the amount of time I've served, I can call myself a law enforcement officer if I want to.
Six years road experience then seven years in detectives. Then you go back to the road as a Capt. It must be an appointed position. I'm sure your patrolman love having a Capt with 6 years road experience.
Like I said an appointed position. It's political. You don't go through an assessment center. It's who you know. Judging by your comments to this dumbshit, I would hate to be on your shift when someone complains about the officer being rude. I'm just glad that my supervisors don't take the same approach that you do. They stand up for us when we're right. If you think that the officer
Why would you have your cruise control set in wet weather conditions? That was another mistake you made.

Nice try tho.
tonydez80 2 years ago 3
NIce try yourself.
The video time was off by 4 minutes, according to my GPS, the time on the ticket, and the time on the video itself as read back by the station. Obviously no one checks the clock in the video recorder. The times I have are all based on the time on the ticket which exactly coincides with the time on my GPS as well. GPS doesn't lie... it calculates distance with differences of billionths of a second, it isn't off 4 minutes!
pfideo 2 years ago
"sir um i saw somebody pass me on the right doin about 80 miles an hour"
"he video shows, after watching carefully, a second car (in this case a so-called smoking gun or grassy knoll) which was speeding over 90 MPH and almost hit me!"
DOESNT ADD UP
mulhall12 2 years ago
Really? Funny because another viewer downloaded my video and edited it finding the second car.
Yes, There was a second car that almost hit me. My only mistake was to pull over to the right and block him... that is why the cop came after me.
pfideo 2 years ago
pfideo if you somehow did beat this case, all I can say is good for you...you have clearly cheated the criminal justice system...as mentioned in the previous comments I absolutely doubt that there was any other car that dangerously passed you on this road
mulhall12 2 years ago
I have watched this video many times and have still never been able to visualize the other vehicle that you claim "was speeding over 90 MPH and almost hit me!"
tdd87 2 years ago
tdd87 > ".. never been able to visualize the other vehicle .."
Same here. Can see taillights several hundred feet further up road, but no vehicle close enough to confuse the cop.
However, the most significant thing here is his brake lights coming on (and staying on for several seconds) just after he passed the cop - just after his truck enters the video. If he was going the speed limit when cop caught up with him, he obviously braked from something much faster to get to that speed.
stewartx5 2 years ago 2
So... take at look at the other supporting videos in "video replies" and you will see that someone else found the second car in the video for me. Yes, it was just in front of me as the cop turned into the express lane. The fact that he was long gone and I wasn't passing him should be enough to prove my point, but you can prove with math an approximate speed for the other car.

Dude... try driving under 65 mph on the NJ Parkway... you will get run off the road.
You are right though... NEVER exit the car!

"Can I ask what the offense was sir?"
Who is training these police officers?
LeftLiberalSoCal 2 years ago
I cannot even believe you'd actually try and stand up for this inconsiderate driver. OBVIOUSLY he was wrong in every way possible. You think by throwing up a couple words in CAPITALS makes the point you're trying to prove any more valid? You, my friend, need to step back from the world of R-Tard and get your head examined.
Psi4tsi 2 years ago
Give me some examples of how "he was wrong in every possible way". My point is valid. In normal traffic stops the police are required to state the reason for the stop FIRST. That is standard operating procedure. The U.S Constitution with protects citizens against this. That is very valid. If the police pull you over and demand your papers - the proper response is "what is the reason for the stop today officer?". They must provide the reason for the stop.
LeftLiberalSoCal 2 years ago
Yes.. all I was trying to do was to let the officer know that the crazy driver that almost just killed me was still out there... and perhaps he could radio ahead to stop that driver. I was NOT wrong... I was protecting my rights and in fact I was NOT speeding... the cop made a mistake. worse yet, he LIED on the stand against me, perjured himself on the stand to prosecute a safe driver: no paints and no accidents for over 10 years. I'm not the kind of guy doing 95 in a rainstorm in a truck!
pfideo 2 years ago
LeftLiberalSoCal > ".. REASON for the stop first BEFORE requesting paperwork .."
Sorry, but both you and the ACLU (if that is indeed what they said) are flat wrong. In fact, police can ask for your paperwork (registration, license, and insurance) even if you've done absolutely nothing wrong. You agreed to those conditions on the drivers license application or on the form signed when receiving that license. You can also likely find a reference to it in your state's vehicle code.
stewartx5 2 years ago
Police may ask for your identification yes. However registration, license and auto insurance are all related to your automobile and driving privledges. US Constituation article IV: "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated" . In addition Police SOP states they must provide the REASON for the stop. This isn't Nazi Germany. Police cannot just pull people over and demand thier papers.
LeftLiberalSoCal 2 years ago
LeftLiberalSoCal > ".. US Constituation article IV .."
Key word is "unreasonable." Requiring proof of license, registration, and insurance while operating a vehicle is not unreasonable.
> ".. the REASON for the stop .."
He was speeding (can see his brake lights come on at start of video just after passing cop), so no great need to state the obvious.
> ".. Nazi Germany. Police cannot just pull people over .."
Again, the cop had a reason for pulling him over - speeding.
stewartx5 2 years ago
LeftLiberalSoCal 2 years ago
You are absolutely wrong u idiot u have no clue what u r talking about. A driver is required to give credentials before he is told anything or he will be arrested for obstruction, but u can try it and see where that gets you lol
socks2021 1 year ago
Obstruction of what? What is he obstructing? SHOW ME ONE CASE where the judge upheld what you said. It's SOP in NORMAL TRAFFIC STOPS to advise the citizen WHY they have been stopped first, THEN to request ID. The reason is because of the 4th ammd of the US Constitution! This is NOT NAZI GERMANY you PIG. You cannot just demand papers for no given reason and if your pattern of conduct (complaints etc) demonstrates otherwise you could be reprimanded / transferred / let go from your job.
LeftLiberalSoCal 1 year ago
If you believed that you were correct why would you put your life and the life of others in danger by getting out of your car to argue with the Trooper? Next time just take the tickets and bring your opinion to court.
tdd87 2 years ago
Additionally, he did reference the other car "I find it hard to believe that car passed you at 80" he said. You also became argumentative with the trooper immediately when he asked for your docs. While he was a little bit of a hardass, becoming argumentative on a traffic stop will never help your situation whether guilty or innocent. That's why they have the courts.
xen0nflash 2 years ago
I've watched this video several times. First let me just say that I have no bias here. 1) The vehicle you are pointing was about 300-500 feet in front of you when you slammed on the brakes and at the same time it was as you passed the trooper and slowing down which shows guilt. 2) The trooper said "No car passed you on the right" not "No other cars were on the road." Conclusion: You and the other vehicle were both speeding (maybe him a little faster) but you got caught. It happens.

you are INOCENT! it is hard to tell but when you look closely it is obvious that you moved over to the right blocking the police officers view of the speeding(second car) and he made a HUGE MISTAKE.

i quess what i mean to say is, in the days we live in now, people will break in your house needing money for drugs, and calling 911 will not save your life, only your personal weapon will, cops are only there to carry out the dead bodies, it's your responsibility to protect yourself not the cop listening to music on the clock who doesn't give a damn about you, ETA to your house after 911, 10 minutes, to the officer's buddies house ASAP under one minute, SEE the difference !

clearly the problem here is the hot shot wannabe bully cop was too busy listening to heavy metal music to be paying attention to the speeder who blew past you, the cops reaction time clearly shows that, very professional to be able to listen to trash music while on duty, that's why i legally carry and conceal a 1911

Why would you make that choice?

Pfideo, i dont see a second car man. sorry as for the time on you pass and the time on the ticket well no clock is the same look at the time on the dash cam when the dispacher say's 12 O'clock that point is not really all that valid. i am glad things worked out for you in court. second as a police officer myself i am like this trooper when i am talking dont interrupt me. you did that a few times that may have something to do with why he treated you the way he did?
usmc206 3 years ago
Yes, the clock on the video camera in the car was off by a fixed amount. And I agree in principle that keeping my mouth shut is a good idea, but he was asking me very specific questions, and he just didn't like my answers. In his mind I was guilty, period. What blew my mind is when he purgered himself on the stand, and lied lied lied!!!
pfideo 3 years ago
I'm curious about a few things. First, why didn't the State Trooper have radar? I was under the impression that was standard-issue for NJSP.
I'm also wondering why he walked off like that (the trooper). I was taught that an officer is required, by law, to inform you why you've been pulled over and to explain the tickets, and to provide an opportunity to ask questions or request a supervisor/commanding-officer. Is that not the case?
popomobile 3 years ago
Popo, as a police officer i can tell you it may not have been that he did not have a radar in the car it may have been he was not sitting at the right angle to get the moving car. Second no a police officer doe not have to let you speak to a supervisor while on a traffic stop there are many reason for this the most important one is safety for you and the officer. the long on the side of the road the more chance there is of a crash.
usmc206 3 years ago
Popo, (sorry ran out of room on last reply) the trooper does try and explain on why he stopped the vehicle and it is stated for speeding. the trooper does not explain the tickets because he is being talked over and if you have ever gotten a ticket all the info is written on the ticket or a paper given with the ticket. and no on a stop i do not always give the person a chance to question that a lot of times opens a can of worms and leads back to the safety of being on the side of the road.
usmc206 3 years ago
usmc,
Thanks for the explanation. When I pulled to the right, I blocked his view of the car.
pfideo 3 years ago
It's true, there are police officer that make mistakes and are often unaware of them. Unfortunately, even when the police are wrong, they have their minds made up completely in full at the scene of any incident, so filing a complaint against the officer or going to court over the matter is the only way to resolve your situation. If ever you get stopped by the police, you have to remember this: NO MATTER HOW WRONG THE OFFICER IS AND HOW RIGHT YOU ARE THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IS NOT THE PLACE TO ARGUE
nkw01053 3 years ago
I didn't see a second vehicle. My opinion is you were speeding even at 65 due to the inclement weather. Yes the trooper may have been an ass, but you're lucky you didn't get your ass tazered and sent to jail or worse. It could have escalated quickly.
HellbentTexan 3 years ago 2
Your page states you are a hypnotist, why didn't you use that? haha. No, I feel bad for you, I think he probably had his share of a##holes that night and you just happened to be the straw that broke the camel's back. If I were an officer though, I would be scared as hell when you got out of your truck. They risk their lives out there everyday with crazies, they never know what's in your head.
cmcil 3 years ago 2
I agree, I appreciate very much what officers do for us. However, this particular officer actually LIED on the stand! He was proven wrong by my lawyer.
I carefully considered getting out of the car, but I did so because I wanted to know what time the officer pulled me over. It turns out, that knowing that was critical to my case. I walked slowly with my hands up.
pfideo 3 years ago
He didn't put it on the ticket(s)? The time?
cmcil 3 years ago
Yes, of course the time was on the ticket, but at the time, having just been in a near-miss accident with a speeding car then pulled over for a very serious violation that I didn't commit, I acted on impulse. My blood was 10% adrenaline!

he was'nt trying to intimidate you at all, and i don't think he was rude to you. the only thing that pissed him off is your mouth! i'm not buying your bullshit story, and i don't care what happened in court, they probably just dismissed it because they were tired of watching you cry and listening to you whine.
2scrappy4u 3 years ago
i think he was SUPER calm with you. you annoyed me and i was'nt even there. you kept interupting while he was calmly trying to talk and explain things to you. i completely agree with CornNugget44 on this one, never ever ever get out of your vehicle and walk toward a patrol car especially if he told you to stay in the car and you two were not getting along all that great anyhow. officers will concider that an aggressive move, and that will get you in situations you don't want to be in!
2scrappy4u 3 years ago
He was playing a game... intimidate me into confessing. But I didn't confess and that annoyed him. Well, it was proven in court that he got the wrong guy, and he was a rude SOB. I was there, you weren't.
pfideo 3 years ago
It was an extremely unwise decision on your part to get out of your vehicle and walk back to the troopers car. Regardless if you put your hands up in the air or not. When I conduct a traffic stop and the driver proceeds to get out of their vehicle I assume it is to do me harm and I immediately place them at gun point. Officer safety is more important that your feelings. Furthermore, you also could have struck by a pick-up truck going 90 mph in the express lane.

This video should be training of how NOT to treat a state trooper after being pulled over. Did you really think arguing with him on the side of the road was going to get you anywhere?
john7282 3 years ago
Yes... in court my ticket was reduced from thousands of dollars of penalty to only a 2 point violation. And, WTF do you mean by argue? He asked me why I was driving at 90 MPH. Should I just agree with him?
The guy acted like a horses ASS both in court AND on the road. He lied under oath! A bold outright lie! But... the judge didn't believe him because he contradicted himself several times. Even the prosecuter knew that, because they dropped 12 point violation to 2 points!
pfideo 3 years ago
haha that's great.
yhcranaalex 3 years ago
The timestamp on the video is 23:55 at the time he pulls you over, five minutes earlier than you stated. If your EZPass says 11:42, then you travelled 18 miles in 13 minutes, which adds up to 83MPH.
However, the cop obviously had a bug up his ass and he should have allowed you to speak your piece in case you might incriminate yourself, but he felt you are hurting his case and he needs to fulfill his quota.
ChuckUFarIey 3 years ago
FYI: The time on the video was wrong. That is very clear because when the voice on the radio states the time, there is about a 5 minute difference. Also, the time on the ticket reflects the time I was pulled over, finally matched by my GPS (accurate to within 1000th of a second). In court no one ever mentioned the time on the video as "proof" of anything. Apparently, they don't give much importance to that clock as 5 minutes off is a pretty big number. It works as a "relative time" indicator.
pfideo 3 years ago
Yes, 5 mins is a big difference in your situation. That cam clock should be syncronized daily to make sure it's always accurate.
I'm sure you are following the Shaun Malone case in Cali. It will be interesting to see what happens with that. I don't see how the court could ignore his GPS evidence.
ChuckUFarIey 3 years ago
wait......hes on the wrong side of the road
sweetseventeen2008 3 years ago
Ho was? whats going on? I'm not sure I understand your question
pfideo 3 years ago
No, in Jersey there are express lanes seperated by the regular lanes. The only difference is they don't have exits so cars arent constantly merging into and off the road which makes it "express." The cops was in the regular lane, the driver was in the express lane.
Bazgash 3 years ago
[Posted by nytmstr and accidently "removed" instead of "replied"]
Traffic on the GSP regularly moves at about 80 to 85 mph, and the NJSP doesnt bother you at these speeds on a few conditions, A= weather conditions, and B= if you are weaving in and out of traffic driving like an ass. So to say you were doing 65, I dont believe that. Also you got out of you vehicle and approached the troopers car. That is a very stupid thing to do especially after you knew he was pissed off.
pfideo 3 years ago
my cruise control was set to 65 which was proven by the EZ pass evidence accepted by the judge. The cop pulled me over because he was chasing a second car which passed me while we were both occuled by a bridge. The cop jumped onto the same road, he couldn't see the car because it was in front of me & he thought I was the only other vehicle out there, and he pulled me over. That more or less came out in court, and the prosecutor dropped the penalty to driving at 66mph, I pled guilty, we are done.
pfideo 3 years ago
Late at night speeding at 90mph giving a cop a hard time and no drug test or nothing it pays to white.
kaybee808 3 years ago
Now if you were so smart you would have taken a different approach. It was raining which affects the radar. It only effects it slightly, but its enough that the courts have said that radar is not allowed as evidence when rain is present.
kurt387665 3 years ago
As you have only read this page, you may know know that the cop had no radar on me. Also, the reason I almost had an accident was that I was driving too slow relatively; another car was driving well ABOVE my speed. Despite conditions, most cars were "swishing" past me. It is equally unsafe to have a big speed difference with traffic around you. If you ever drive on the GSP, you know 80 is "normal".
Since the cop didn't have radar on me and was caught lying, the PA all but dropped the charges.
pfideo 3 years ago
The problem with the police profession is that they don't need proof to convict you of anything, so any mistake they make is done, you're screwed. Plus it's in their training to not admit that they made the mistake.
sociopathicregret 3 years ago
What I see is your brake lights coming on (towards the end of 0:01) and remaining on for a full six seconds (ending at 0:07) as you slowed down. A person doing 90mph could, with decent brakes, come to nearly a complete stop within that time period. If a court sees that, you don't have a chance of beating this ticket. By the way, the E-Z Pass, your GPS claims, and so on, prove nothing. Distance covered following E-Z Pass, for example, doesn't prove you weren't speeding at that one moment.
stewartx5 3 years ago
If I average 60 MPH for 18 miles (and thereby also 18 minutes) if the officer followed me for 5 minutes, which he alleges, then the other 13 minutes I was driving less than 45 MPH! So, imagine a guy driving on the highway at a consistant 45 MPH then bursting onto 95MPH just as a cop appears. Does that make any sense? Your right it does PROVE that I wasn't doing 95, but certainly indicated it as a more like scenerao. My GPS clearly showed my max speed, I was offering the officer to see it.
pfideo 3 years ago
Look, I feel for you, but your argument just doesn't convince me. First, it's a little hard to believe the cop mistook a pickup truck for the sedan he was trying to follow. Second, the weather was bad so you certainly could have been driving slow earlier and sped up as the weather cleared enough to allow that. Finally, I just don't see any motivation for the cop to lie. All that, combined with the telltale brake lights on your truck in the video, just weighs too heavily against you. Sorry.
stewartx5 3 years ago 2
Do you have any idea how dangerous it is to drive less than 55 on the Garden State Parkway? I doing 65 and almost run off the road by the speeding car! Here is what happened: The cop was on the other side of the road... A car blows by at 95 or 100 mph. He sees light and start after them. Under a bridge, he looses the lights for a second as he slows down to cross over from the local to express lanes and the car passes me. He sees lights & pulls me over.He does NOT see the car's lights, only mine.
pfideo 3 years ago
Well, I wasn't there, so obviously can't really say. There is only the video and your version of the story. The video doesn't really help you. And I can only guess what his version of the story might be. So, I'll leave it with what I've already said. Good luck to you.
stewartx5 3 years ago
Thanks for the feedback & good wishes. FYI, this was resolved: After the EZ pass information was allowed by the judge, the prosecuter panicked and offered me a deal I couldn't resist. But, the sad thing here is that the cop lied on the stand and stated things that were simply not possible (and later on, when cross examined, said "How could I remember so long ago, when I wrote 130 tickets last week!" What a jerk he is!) Anyway, the prosecuter all but let me off because of that & the EZ pass info.

I guess you didn't read anything. I didn't loose... I compromised a little to save another trip back to court, but after facing 18 months without a license, I got off with a slap on the wrist. He was rude and crude!
pfideo 3 years ago
Ok, I'll give you the typo, but fuck you make a lot of them. But you guys disagreed. Bottom line. I don't see where he was an asshole. He sounded annoyed. So. You never showed where the officer lied. You came across as somewhat of a dick, but nothing overly egregious. The thing is, when you get stopped, you're only going to talk yourself into more tickets if you take your approach. But fuck, you guys disagreed. You went to court and paid your fine. Get the fuck over it already.
VinniesDeathSquad 3 years ago
The cop lied in court, on the stand, and said that he had a light on me and clearly saw that it was my truck speeding. THAT is what pissed me off. The speeder was a white car that almost killed me, all I wanted was for the officer to radio it in and perhaps stop that white car from killing someone. He was driving over 100 MPH in a storm.
pfideo 3 years ago
In your little circle on the video I can't see shit there. Plus, why did you hit your brakes?
VinniesDeathSquad 3 years ago
First, if you look at the video reply where I analyze the video, you will see a light moving relative to the signs just in front of me.
Now, simple logic... if there are two cars, and one is speeding at 95+MPH, which one will be in front of you when you cross over the divider? Not Mr. 95 MPH! Just me.
Why did I hit the brakes? Because suddenly in the middle of the night, after a near accident, my body full of adrenlin, a bright light is in my truck...it was a reaction as in "WTF is going on!"
pfideo 3 years ago
Well, it's been good talking to you. I would hope that if you weren't the one who was speeding it was an honest mistake on the officer's part. There's no satisfaction in giving the wrong person a ticket. I've never knowingly given someone a ticket who didn't deserve it. Good luck to you and God Speed. (joke)
VinniesDeathSquad 3 years ago
Yes, it has been a spirited chat indeed!
Be safe my friend...
pfideo 3 years ago
BTW... you get points for the word egregious. I guess you are an educated dude after all.

I was. Stop being a dumbass Monday morning quarterback.
pfideo 3 years ago
Yes, I hear an asshole too... it the farting sound that your words are making. So, 1) HOW the fuck am I supposed to know that your name is spelled Vinnie when your user name is the possessive form? 2) I find it quite humorous and fitting in your complaining about my grammar/English, I guess you spend time replying to assholes and use a grammar/spell check. Yes, that was a typo. I guess in your world that "proves" my guilt once again.
pfideo 3 years ago
Yeah, because if he's not a cop he must be guilty. Right?
Alaricsfg 3 years ago
Obviously, you have no clue what you're talking about. The officer in this video may have an attitude, but so does the driver. He can't expect to give the cop shit and not get any in return. Tough shit. Oh and fuck you too.
VinniesDeathSquad 3 years ago
Obviously you like to make assumptions about people because you're a cop and that makes you ultra-fucking-smart and right all the time. The driver didn't want a ticket, understandable. The driver was trying to explain himself. The cop, doesn't want to hear it because his cop intelligence makes him right all the time. You have a shit attitude Vinnie. You and officers like you are why people out there hate cops.
Alaricsfg 3 years ago
No, it's because we get sick of people flat out lying. We sit and watch people blow through red lights, stop signs, or school zones and then they'll call us liars. Knowing damn good and well that they did it. Argue in court, that's the forum for arguing, not on the side of the road. If you try and show the cop up on the side of the road, you're going to lose. Most of the time, if you're polite, as with me, you'll get a reduction or maybe even a written warning. We're not all assholes.
VinniesDeathSquad 3 years ago
Thanks for proving my point. Basically you just said everyone you pull over is guilty and if they try to explain their view of the situation they are lying. I know not all cops are assholes, but not all citizens are liars Vinnie. Some cops have that figured out. Then there's assholes like you that think they never make mistakes and they're always right.
Alaricsfg 3 years ago
As far as people lying, I have them constantly making up shit about me and other officers. They forget of course that there's a video tape. They come in and bitch and say "He called me an asshole and told me to shut the fuck up." My Sgt. says, "Fine, let's watch the video tape." Their dumb ass then goes "Uh, video tape? I didn't know that there was a video tape" They're just pissed off b/c they got a ticket. I've had 19 complaints that ended EXACTLY like that. Now tell me motorists don't lie.
VinniesDeathSquad 3 years ago

I hear an asshole.

this happend on my birthday lol that sucks though dude you can clearly see the white vehicle that passed you.

Get over it, man. If this worst thing that ever happens to you is a bogus speeding ticket, count yourself lucky.
Rebiggenator 3 years ago
I never said this is the worst thing that happened to me. The point of having this video here is: 1) You can fight a bogus ticket and win 2) Cops will LIE to you, intimidate you and do other things to trick you into saying things that they can use in court. The rule is: drive safely and when you are pulled over, KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT ALL THE WAY! Be polite but do NOT allow searches without a warrant.
pfideo 3 years ago

Rick,
Thank you for your heartfelt comment.
Anyway: THANKS!

Some people take longer to prove themselves than others. Have a nice day Vinnie.
Rick0040 3 years ago
Like I said an appointed position. It's political. You don't go through an assessment center. It's who you know. Judging by your comments to this dumbshit, I would hate to be on your shift when someone complains about the officer being rude. I'm just glad that my supervisors don't take the same approach that you do. They stand up for us when we're right. If you think that the officer
