Having been less than a mile from the WTC on 9-11, I particularly love the line "Exposed to a truth we don't know, collapsing like the Twin Towers". That line and the emotion in JDB's voice as he sings it has such an effect on me. It is a shame that the Manics have been forced to censor those lyrics for the US release and their American audience. This is a very powerful song that needs to be heard and understood.

yeah that's a cool one.
the strange thing about the beat is that it's a motown rhythm, with snares on all counts, pa-pa-pa-pum-pa-pum-pa. only faster and with hard guitars.
the melancholy? i also think of the melody of the vocals, eg 'bones' in 'rattling...bones', f# over e min chord. beautiful.
