Regardless of the decision of Hamnid Shirvani made he was going to get in trouble! Stupid whiny students!

Thank god students are beginning to organize. President Shirvani and his administration were the main pushers for the cancellation of winter term and the termination of more jobs of teachers. I wanted to go to this protest, and I know many students like me were kept home writing papers and doing projects before the finals. Shirvani isn't the cause of this budget crisis, but he is making it worse! I can't wait for the walkout tomorrow, as I know most of us will be able to do that at least.

We have 3 options if funding is cut!

1. Cut courses and other expenses

2. Take out loans(may not be possible and short term solution)

3. Raise fees

You cannot just snap your fingers and make the California state government give more funding to the CSU.

These whiners seem to really like protesting. How about instead of protesting about the fee increases and planning how to progest the fee increases they get a JOB so they can pay the increase!

@Rockynurse, CSU Fresno's president is well-loved, and has answered the needs of students there during this budget crisis. Presidents should be held accountable for their actions, and Shirvani deserves the blame he's gotten.

Really? The debate is not over what CSU Fresno's president did. Circumstances are much different at CSU Fresno.

However, what did CSU Fresno's president do differently?

Which of the 3 did CSU fresno's president choose?

How did CSU Fresno's president handle it differently?

You must be able to answer these questions since you are harassing the man. The students feelings are besided the point.

Do you really think that the president of your university is responsible for the budget cuts? Also, learn to articulate your views. The man in the blue hat made all of you look like misinformed children and all he did was asked questions. Maybe next time a fact sheet? Im glad I go to a different csu—cant wait to hear about all your success at the next cssa meeting. I am sure Diana will be excited to share about all the embarrassment you have caused.

I'm glad you go to a different csu as well. We need students who actually care for saving public education; we don't need students who are ASLEEP and go along with the flow. And who cares if Diana is embarrassed; she should be!

The whole student goverment is not FOR the students but rather the corrupt administration. Oh, and yes there was a fact sheet. Sorry to disappoint you, but when NO one else cares for our education what else are we suppose to do??

You ask if Shirvani is responsible. Well, like many other issues, there is usually more than one individual involved. It boils down to this, if you are in an administrative role and you aren't part of the solution, then you are part of the problem and you totally have some amount of responsibility to share.

All he did was come in and say that we were all moronic kids and that he knew what it was like to go to school blah blah blah. He even said that he wasn't calling anyone names right before calling that kid in the black sweatshirt a moron.

This rally wasn't about the budget cuts. It was about him having a nice ass car and house (bought with student money) and then saying there's not enough money to keep classes.

No the neighbor was rational and not whiny and emotional. Protest all you want but it cannot change the amount in the school bank accounts again you have 3 options when the funding is cut!

2. take out loans (short term and not always possible)

3. increase fees
