  • Hey I started to restore the SL125.. Do you have any advice or websites where you got part? Thank you

  • @Lconroy8

    EBAY Motors and CMSNL

  • Dang, does that bring back memories! In 1985 my Dad found this bike for me as my first bike. All original. Wish I still had it today! By the way, in 1985 I was only 14, so I kind of broke a few laws riding it to the mall and such!!

  • Hi again, I was wondering what gearing you have on it? Cheers, John

  • @john47999

Back sprocket is 44T and front is 15T (original was 14T). Adds about 5 mph on top end but at a slight cost of low end response. Hardly noticeable.

  • nice helmet cam..

  • @Lconroy8

Was an old Oregon Scientific ATC2K Camera Helmet Cam with rubber strap mounting. Not very good at high speeds as it vibrates a lot. I just got a GoPro HERO with a handlebar mount. Should be a lot better. WIll make a new movie soon.

  • I found a 1972 sl125 in a barn at my cabin that was my dads when he was 13 I have restored most of the bike and it runs great and has a bassani pipe on it

  • @forseener

Is the restoration done? If so, give us a link to it.

I just found a NOS luggage rack and will put it on mine soon.

  • Where's the freakin' bike?

  • @Lavenderlight

Under the description, hit the SHOW MORE widget and there are links to pictures.

  • John,

Welcome to the fold. Post a link to a picture of your bike would ya? I too had problems with power like you did even after installing a Kien carb rebuild and adjusting the float per specs too. Finally just bought another carb and it now runs perfect. If it can haul my large body over 55 mph for a 36 year old bike, then I agree its a nice design. Compared to todays dirt bikes this thing is a dinosaur, but on the other hand this bike can be road driven and is a head turner.

  • @AV8R A year later an my bike is restored... almost :) Doesn't look nearly as nice as yours but its good enough for me. I will post a running video soon but for now, check out my restoration vid.

  • Just been given an SL 125 by my uncle. It had stood for 14 years and it took me 6 solid days to finally get her running. I had a problem when she first was running because I couldn't open the throttle up fully, it was being starved of petrol even though I'd cleaned the carb. Even then with the limited revs I was impressed with the power but today I gave it another clean and blow with air and its cleaned her up a treat. With full throttle the power in this little 125cc engine is mind boggling :)
