Forza sounds = Cars driving without hood, no difference what view you're using, still sounds are good, no doubt about that.
GT sounds = recorded while driving, several sound angles (Yes, we KNOW that most noise comes out from exhaust system, not through hood unless there is no hood at all)
Put your helmet on and go driving around the track and you'll LEARN how it really sounds, been there, done that.
@Sampyla20plus Oh yeah dude? I never ever drove ONE car on a track that sounded near the crappy engine sounds in GT5. Electrolux and Dyson, are they in the car business yet? GT5 sounds sucks big time.

ive been to alot of lemans races, and i have seen alot of the gt1 and gt2 cars race in real life(corvettes,vipers,ferrari's,and even the lmp1 prototype cars), forza got the sound pretty much spot on, its amazing, gt5 however, has cars that sound like vacum cleaners

To be fair the engine sounds in gt5 are horrible, that's the reason I got rid of it.
I love imprezas and on gt5 the impreza sounded more like a type r!. There were no burble or roar of the boxer engine on gt5. Forza they have nailed it perfect.
If gt5 had got all the sound correct I'd like it more.
@Kcon83 depends on revs, within 2000-4000 rpm those flat-six engines sounds about right, I havent much hearded anyone revving Impreza's up to 7000 rpm in real life. If you drive cars with regular legal speedlimits in GT5, cars sounds just like in real life, but when you push those engines hard, sounds becomes more and more "higher", which means that burble/roar gets lost because engine revs so much higher than ment to.
@Sampyla20plus i did my own comparison (just so i could see for my self using turtle beach x41 surround sound headphones DTS 7.1) and i still found forza sounded better though to be honest i rarely play without them anymore, i think the biggest problem with GT5 is having so many different cars they have had to make sacrafices such as many of the cars almost sounding exacly the same and when tuned up sounding like a lowbandwidth sound sample (and people will spam me for saying that).

As for your first point, yes I don't truly know, but the sound clip had a guy's voice in the beginning, suggesting it was recorded, and why fake it.
You all think just because you don't see a fast ass turbo/supercharger or cause it can't win a race, it must be a damn ricer. How are you going to tell if someone has ported heads, bigger fuel injectors, an aggressive tune, forged internals, etc. Point is you AREN'T especially in the initial stages. Turbos didn't hit passenger cars till the 60s and america and a store to where you cou say hey build me this turbocharger weren't all over the place. The market then and now were night and day.

I really appreciate the effort the Forza team puts into the sounds. If you upgrade a 2.0L turbo 4-cyl it will sound completely different than a big block V-8 in the game, which is awsome. So used to GT series where no matter what engines you upgrade, the more you do so, the more they all sound the same.
@th3lunchb0x either team has tested all their cars with 4-10X times with different setups/upgrades, basically in both series upgraded sounds are just regenerated. But in Forza upgraded sounds wins, while GT wins with stock car sounds.
@th3lunchb0x Depends, if people want to race actual real life lap records, they need to use cars as stock, but ofcourse, Forza offers huge fun with all the upgrade options it has, even I like GT5 more, I like Forza 4 alot too.
@Sampyla20plus sorry but i seriously beg to differ, the sounds on the stock LFA in GT5 does not sound better than the stock LFA in Forza 4 though your probably right about the other stock cars in GT5.
@r3tr0gam3r1337 Depends on your sound hardware, with 7.1 DTS system GT5 sounds are nearly perfect, in Forza 4 those sounds are made louder so even regular tv speakers will make em sound better, read, overboosted. But there is no difference between surround and stereo in Forza, sounds will be the same. but I agree Forza cars sounds excellent.

@evo91126 yes you can. the k20a DC5 motor can be swapped. since you werent specific on what car, i know its swappable on th 99 Si. i havent tried it on another car, and i cant check since im not home for the week.

Honestly, everyone talking about which game is more realistic have probably never driven a car before. Both polyphony and turn 10 are way off in terms of how cars behave.

Yes they are just games, but they are realistic and there driving physics are not far from real life if you use a wheel and set the highest difficulity.

OK cool, they sound the same, but it would've been better proof if you showed an actual video of the K20 during the second part instead of a pic. For all I know, maybe you just took the sound of a totally different real-life engine that sounds similar to the game and slapped on a pic of a K20. Not saying you're a liar, but it does induce a little bit of scepticism.
What was going through GT5 producers minds when they used vaccumes. Wish GT5 had sounds like these. The sound in Forza 4, I find, is a little distorted, but perfectly matched to real life.
physics vs sound... i would rather better physics. but if you get in a real car on a real racetrack and crash because you think that forza's physics are realistic that that's okay too because the car sounds the same as forza...
In FM4 all cars sounds too much roaring and loud...if it is that what you want, be happy. But that the car sounds inside and outside the SAME, is fail.

One could even say that your comments are smart-ass to begin with lol, and it being late at night I decided it was appropriate to respond with another smart ass comment :).
As for your first point, yes I don't truly know, but the sound clip had a guy's voice in the beginning, suggesting it was recorded, and why fake it.

You all think just because you don't see a fast ass turbo/supercharger or cause it can't win a race, it must be a damn ricer. How are you going to tell if someone has ported heads, bigger fuel injectors, an aggressive tune, forged internals, etc. Point is you AREN'T especially in the initial stages. Turbos didn't hit passenger cars till the 60s and america and a store to where you cou say hey build me this turbocharger weren't all over the place. The market then and now were night and day.

First, it was someone who buys visual parts and not performance parts.... now it's if it's slow it's a ricer and if it's fast it's not... I really appreciate the effort the Forza team puts into the sounds. If you upgrade a 2.0L turbo 4-cyl it will sound completely different than a big block V-8 in the game, which is awsome. So used to GT series where no matter what engines you upgrade, the more you do so, the more they all sound the same.

@th3lunchb0x either team has tested all their cars with 4-10X times with different setups/upgrades, basically in both series upgraded sounds are just regenerated. But in Forza upgraded sounds wins, while GT wins with stock car sounds.

@r3tr0gam3r1337 Depends on your sound hardware, with 7.1 DTS system GT5 sounds are nearly perfect, in Forza 4 those sounds are made louder so even regular tv speakers will make em sound better, read, overboosted. But there is no difference between surround and stereo in Forza, sounds will be the same. but I agree Forza cars sounds excellent.

In addition, let's say i added a set of ported heads, CAI, and bored .20 over ( which is a mild- aggressive bore for any DD due to heating issues that will arise.) Add in the miscellaneous parts/tune just for your car to run and it doesn't come out cheap. Best part about it, You aren't going to be blazing fast or fast at all. Don't give me your BS as to what qualifies as a ricer cuz u have NO clue

@DoubleT4596 Actually a ricer comes from the term "rice patty rocket", in which cars made in Asia, hence the term, are upgraded and often found street racing. Don't get me wrong, I do not have anything against them like that idiot down there, but there's no way in avoiding the term "ricer" since it has been stuck with those types of cars for over 20 years.

Yes they are just games, but they are realistic and there driving physics are not far from real life if you use a wheel and set the highest difficulity.

For all I know, maybe you just took the sound of a totally different real-life engine that sounds similar to the game and slapped on a pic of a K20. In FM4 all cars sounds too much roaring and loud...if it is that what you want, be happy. But that the car sounds inside and outside the SAME, is fail.
