id rather see an old race car die on track than sitting in some oil tycoons garage, they were built for the track, its only right for them to die there too
the majority of the value in this car is its chassis number.. Can smash the car up as much as you want - it will always be an economical repair and relatively speaking (in comparison to 12 mill) cheap
@Kirkconway - you say who cares what the cars worth as long as the driver is ok, but if it was your ass that wrecked it you would be wishing u died in the crash.
did you fix it? i wonder if you considered the value of it with/ without restoration by a body shop. I wonder what a collector would think. good luck, and be greatful you didn't die at the corkscrew.
why would some numb nut's "Fu*k" head idiot driving a irreplaceable piece of automotive history push his skills playing russian roulette through one of THE most technical sections of L-Seca ... the cork screw. LOL if they hired the driver to ruin the owners car & LOL even harder if it was driven by the owner ... Historic racing is for enjoyment , not being 1st to crash a vehicle , who cares if you only finnished 6th or 7th ... even "IF" I could , $ $ $ $ whoever drove car needs a NUT SACK KICK
Ironically this same car was totaled at Laguna Seca in 1960, in a similar incident at turn 5, rather than the corkscrew. It was far more damaged than this after that incident, and it was back racing less than a year later! Rebuild and Race- That's what Enzo would want.
I will say the damage isn't as bad as I thought it was watching the crash, granted it will be a bitch to fix. A lot of time and a lot of money. I'd imagine that Love will race it just as much if not more after fixing it. Maybe he'll be a little more careful about it too.
new parts thats a one piece body on that car what are u going to do go to autozone and ask them if they have a replacement fuckin mooks that car even fixed just depreciated in value by 75% ferrari would kick ur ass if u called them and u said u wrecked 1 of 40 of these cars 12 million dollar paper wieght thats all its worth now
You could probably get the new parts made out of carbon fiber for cheaper than original parts at a guess. Are there even reproduction parts out there for one of these?
Yah right. Originality is what makes the car valuable. This car will be rebuilt using the original aluminum using a hammer and English wheel. Carbon fiber . . . sheer bosh! It's a $12 million dollar car and you suggest the owner looker for cheap replacement parts. Hilarious. But, I agree with you. You definitely could find cheaper replacement parts.
@fi7thy yEa, but eventually the garage full of lambos wont be worth anywhere near what you paid for them and by then the Ferrari would have doubled in value.
