I would say that the # of really great players in the nfl>cfl*4, but on average there is little difference in atheliticism. many great athletes are ignored by nfl because of size.

You are definitely correct that the Canadian game came first though, we beat the Americans by 8 years.

Any Canadian that has any knowledge of football wouldn't disagree with that. It's a different game and CANNOT compete with the NCAA or the NFL. Many NFL players came up through the CFL and have great respect for the game because it gave them a second chance. You should realize that and quit grilling the CFL cause it wasn't established to rival the NFL.
I was in HI last month and one of the BC Lions guys (a UofH alumini) was interviewed about how hard it is to make the CFL, with the AFL done and the Canadian content. If the Canadian Content is reduced, this league will only get better. Just like the NHL, would there be any US championship teams if 50% had to be Yanks?
I agree, the game would be better. However being a Canadian and having that as a tradition of the league i think it defeats the purpose of what the CFL is. Also team revenues couldn't support much higher of a salary cap. Therefore having Canadians in the league isn't so bad.
I'm pretty sure we have a better education system in Canada, not to mention athletes that "graduate" a term that does not apply to american athletics.
Nfl has apx 3000 of the 4010(or so) Unv /Colleges in the USA to recruit players along with the Canadian Unv's and other countries abroad. Then again so does the CFL (except we have to include 7 Canadian starters) - with salaries at 1/4 (or less) of the NFL the odds are the fastest /best college players will end up in the NFL. I like the NFL because I love football -the CFL is my game ... if you are a Canuk or American and don't like the CFL-don't watch ... no one would miss u....
Canadian juniors have beaten the Americans many time s. Our high school teams have also beaten americans (surprisingly ) .I would not say we are better but the CFL teams playing CFl rules would beat any NFL team including the cowboys . If the CFL team played NFl rules the CFl would be clobbered .
That's because the games are so different! It would take either side weeks to prepare for the other country's game... it could be done, but it would require a totally different offensive and special teams scheme.
Everytime I watch a Canadian game on here, I'm reminded why they are the best at it (they invented the game, after all). I did get a little peeved though that @ 3:10 above you didn't show the Single/Rouge that Montreal scored to break the 13-13 tie - the single point score is one of the superior rule differences the Canadians have as compared to the Americans IMO

Any Canadian that has any knowledge of football wouldn't disagree with that. It's a different game and CANNOT compete with the NCAA or the NFL. Many NFL players came up through the CFL and have great respect for the game because it gave them a second chance. You should realize that and quit grilling the CFL cause it wasn't established to rival the NFL.

I was in HI last month and one of the BC Lions guys (a UofH alumini) was interviewed about how hard it is to make the CFL, with the AFL done and the Canadian content. If the Canadian Content is reduced, this league will only get better. Just like the NHL, would there be any US championship teams if 50% had to be Yanks?

I agree, the game would be better. However being a Canadian and having that as a tradition of the league i think it defeats the purpose of what the CFL is. Also team revenues couldn't support much higher of a salary cap. Therefore having Canadians in the league isn't so bad.

Nfl has apx 3000 of the 4010(or so) Unv /Colleges in the USA to recruit players along with the Canadian Unv's and other countries abroad. Then again so does the CFL (except we have to include 7 Canadian starters) - with salaries at 1/4 (or less) of the NFL the odds are the fastest /best college players will end up in the NFL. I like the NFL because I love football -the CFL is my game ... if you are a Canuk or American and don't like the CFL-don't watch ... no one would miss u....

Canadian juniors have beaten the Americans many time s. Our high school teams have also beaten americans (surprisingly ) .I would not say we are better but the CFL teams playing CFl rules would beat any NFL team including the cowboys . If the CFL team played NFl rules the CFl would be clobbered .

Everytime I watch a Canadian game on here, I'm reminded why they are the best at it (they invented the game, after all). I did get a little peeved though that @ 3:10 above you didn't show the Single/Rouge that Montreal scored to break the 13-13 tie - the single point score is one of the superior rule differences the Canadians have as compared to the Americans IMO

Chill guys,bottom line is that the NFL is surrounded by the hoopla of commercialization and money. Population is a big factor in both countries. Take away the fancies,the CFL is a much more exciting game. Don't get me wrong,I love the NFL as well,but there's too much ignorance in the States. Name one NFL star that hasn't deflated in the CFL. Ricky Williams? Mark Gastineau? Ferragamo?The NFL is alot slower too, 35 min. huddle time in between plays? Americans aren't the brighest chimps around.
