I've heard around the grapevine that this model is partially based on the Faemina. What can you tell me about this claim? I'm assuming someone as reputable in espresso know-how as yourself might know better.

The tube is part of the three way solenoid vale which is the thing with the heavy spring in. It sucks up any water in the grouphead after brewing is stopped. It dries the puck in the portafilter so it is less "soupy".

@lewys258 Thanks, but it has no 3 way solenoid valve electronics in there. It is an overpressure drain from the boiler...
