Although North American sports is clearly the emphasis, and there are other Olympic moments, but how do you leave out the US losing to the Soviets at Munich in '72? Disappointing, yes. But everyone knows it was controversial because the Americans got screwed.
Greatest collection of sports clips ever put together to the greatest rock song of all time. Kudos Sportscenter(ESPN), Aerosmith, and mustangGT33 for uploading this great vid. Havent seen it since it aired originally and it still gives me chills...
Greatest sports compilation EVER!!!! Oh and frankly ESPN is an American company so they mainly cover American sporting events unless it's the Olympics or world cup with international events so I don't know why people are saying its biased towards America. I don't see Saudi Arabia or Russia producing any basketball player that's even close to being as good as Michael Jordan so you can all just be patient until your country comes out with a Usain Bolt or Yao Ming.
@Unnatured199 check the stats bro, we won like 40% of the nobel prizes, won like by far the most olympic medals, we saved the world 2 times, we invented like a million things. This was our century...
@Epimpin101 Haha wtf, what do nobel prizes, saving the world twice(doesn't make sense at all) and inventing a million things( No, just no) have to do with sports????
Loved the video. But how in the hell is Buster Douglas' KO of Tyson NOT in there? Next to the Miracle On Ice, it's one of the biggest upsets in sports history.
And Bo Jackson deserved a better highlight. He had many to choose from.
@ThePaddyManc Of course it is lol. It's from an american channel owned by an american company whose audience is predominantly American lulz. Now I don't know how many international ESPN markets there were in 1999, but it only makes sense to cater to your own audience does it not? Maybe ESPN Deportes has a nice 20th Century tribute...I doubt it but we can dream lol
@bruinsthebruinswhat lol, that's one of the most ridiculous things i've ever seen some idiot say on youtube. soccer is the most popular sport in the whole world for good reason. don't be ignorant.
@danesesse Well, they did have Foreman and Frazier at 1:54 and Tyson at 4:33. Yeah, it's US stuff mainly. Don't really mind, but I'd love to see some foreign clips like Bannister, "Hand of God", or 1994 South African Rugby.
Soccer is the highest rated sports in the world. Theres no other sport that covers the glove like soccer. Man u payroll when they had ronaldo was over 1 billion dollars. Soccer is the biggest sport in the world. Though i do prefer football. I have played soccer too for 10 years.
I love how I never noticed this until now. I understand that some of these clips "line up" with the lyrics in the song, but neat how they play Bob Knight and Woody Hayes (go Blue) clips during "Live and learn from fools," subsequently followed by the quick montage of timeless revered coaches during "sages."
After watching such an amazing video as this, I can only hope that this century of sports can match the 20th century. Everything in this video is why I love sports.
This is the best clip of it's kind, but it's only American sports moments. There are so many other historic sports moments that I wish Americans would know about them.
Did I see the 1969 Mets in there? It was a huge win for an expansion team that went from worst to first. Also did I miss seeing the Islanders in there? They won more cups than the Oilers.
@allstarkid2365 There's plenty of MJ in there...you judge a 7-minute video by the first 2 seconds? Lol. Also if you had read the title ("20th Century") that would explain why there is no Kobe, Lebron and Wade. Yes I know Kobe debuted in '96 but was certainly no legend by '99. Iverson actually makes a brief appearance at 5:05.
@allstarkid2365 pretty much the dumbest post i ever saw... u obviously have to be 12... and not a sports fan cuz this gives me chills and brings me to tears everytime i see watch it

@LithiumZ2 ahh sorry man its just where i come from our broadcasting services (BBC) have a worldwide scope and perspective on things despite having the majority of programmes based in the UK. You fucking bigoted twat America isn't the centre of the world.
