  • Bryan Trottier @3:28. One of the 19 straight playoff series victories. : )

  • Although North American sports is clearly the emphasis, and there are other Olympic moments, but how do you leave out the US losing to the Soviets at Munich in '72? Disappointing, yes. But everyone knows it was controversial because the Americans got screwed.

  • Greatest collection of sports clips ever put together to the greatest rock song of all time. Kudos Sportscenter(ESPN), Aerosmith, and mustangGT33 for uploading this great vid. Havent seen it since it aired originally and it still gives me chills...

  • Greatest sports compilation EVER!!!! Oh and frankly ESPN is an American company so they mainly cover American sporting events unless it's the Olympics or world cup with international events so I don't know why people are saying its biased towards America. I don't see Saudi Arabia or Russia producing any basketball player that's even close to being as good as Michael Jordan so you can all just be patient until your country comes out with a Usain Bolt or Yao Ming.

  • jordan game winner 1997 finals?

  • I didn't know the U.S was the only country in the 20th century

  • @Unnatured199 check the stats bro, we won like 40% of the nobel prizes, won like by far the most olympic medals, we saved the world 2 times, we invented like a million things. This was our century...

  • @Epimpin101 Haha wtf, what do nobel prizes, saving the world twice(doesn't make sense at all) and inventing a million things( No, just no) have to do with sports????

  • Loved the video. But how in the hell is Buster Douglas' KO of Tyson NOT in there? Next to the Miracle On Ice, it's one of the biggest upsets in sports history.

And Bo Jackson deserved a better highlight. He had many to choose from.

  • shit. too biased to america

  • @ThePaddyManc Of course it is lol. It's from an american channel owned by an american company whose audience is predominantly American lulz. Now I don't know how many international ESPN markets there were in 1999, but it only makes sense to cater to your own audience does it not? Maybe ESPN Deportes has a nice 20th Century tribute...I doubt it but we can dream lol

  • broad street bullies?

  • Hey u guys , go to my channel Nd watch blake griffins nasty dunk

  • @stoney420ful Soccer sucks dick. It's so pussy, and soccer players r all huge pussies

  • @bruinsthebruinswhat lol, that's one of the most ridiculous things i've ever seen some idiot say on youtube. soccer is the most popular sport in the whole world for good reason. don't be ignorant.

  • @ mustangGT33 or anyone. Is there any way you can email this video or put it on a dvd? I'd love to have this. Thanks

  • Very america centric but also isn't there more to boxing then mr ali.

  • @danesesse Well, they did have Foreman and Frazier at 1:54 and Tyson at 4:33. Yeah, it's US stuff mainly. Don't really mind, but I'd love to see some foreign clips like Bannister, "Hand of God", or 1994 South African Rugby.

  • This is one of the greatest sports videos ever viewed by human eyes. Hats to whomever posted this.

  • Who is the coach of the Canadiens at :12?

  • Dreamweaver??? really???

  • And also, football. The real one. The one believed to be the greatest one of all. I see you take none of it.

  • You know ESPN, sport exists outside the US too.

  • Epic

  • ESPN actually put hockey on this... WOW first time I've seen hockey on ESPN for about 10 years

  • @ 1:34 cue the music

  • Soccer is the highest rated sports in the world. Theres no other sport that covers the glove like soccer. Man u payroll when they had ronaldo was over 1 billion dollars. Soccer is the biggest sport in the world. Though i do prefer football. I have played soccer too for 10 years.

  • no soccer? aw, come on. Manchester United's win against B. Muenchen on 1999 UEFA Champions League's final is the 20th century best sport moment.

  • Comment removed

  • bobby orr's superman goal should have been in there longer

  • Can someone say EPICCC!!!!!!!!!!

  • Your forgot 'American' in the title.

  • @mdao3000 jaja, you can´t expect that, remember, sometimes they "live in their own world"

  • Nothing compares to the 1980 Miracle, easily best sports moment of all time

  • 2:34 GO WOLFPACK! Easily the greatest college basketball story ever :D

  • who was the platform diver which hit his head?

  • @xtramaniac18 ESPN is American is you haven't noticed.

  • Best sports montage EVER!!!

  • 0:14 male female?

  • @Altiar253 Haha...female. Babe Didrikson Zaharias (sp?). Known by most as the greatest female athlete of all time.

  • @mustangGT33 ahh ok cool..there we a few awsome moments in this video..that wasn't one of them lol..

  • @mustangGT33 she looks like she has a dip in.

  • @Altiar253 shemale

  • teary eyed throughout

  • @Curevicc

Exactly. And it's sad there wasn't much soccer in this video too for America. Hopefully this next century we can change that.

  • @pistachio0891 I saw some canadian also we play all the sports in the world everyone else just plays soccer.

  • NO SHAWN BRADLEY, AUTOMATIC DOWNVOTE

  • I can fap to this

  • I love how I never noticed this until now. I understand that some of these clips "line up" with the lyrics in the song, but neat how they play Bob Knight and Woody Hayes (go Blue) clips during "Live and learn from fools," subsequently followed by the quick montage of timeless revered coaches during "sages."

  • After watching such an amazing video as this, I can only hope that this century of sports can match the 20th century. Everything in this video is why I love sports.

  • And who's the guy just before James Naismith?

  • Is that Stan Musial in a Cards uniform in the first image?

  • How can they not have Bill Buckner's missed catch?

  • @tomersde It's at 3:56...very brief.

  • I meant Michael Jordon... stupid phone...

  • The greats of yesteryear.

    Babe Ruth

    Lou Gehrig

    Mohammed Ali

    Shoeless Joe Jackson

    Michael Jackson

    1980 USA Olympic Men's Hockey

    Larry Bird

Many others I can't think of right now

  • Do you believe in Miracles?! YES!

  • That was awesome!

  • Couldn't You See Anything!!-LOL

  • sorry people some noob hacked my youtube acount i apoligize for the comments he left

  • 4:34 White men can jump !

  • This is the best clip of it's kind, but it's only American sports moments. There are so many other historic sports moments that I wish Americans would know about them.

  • 8 fat nerds watched this

  • I wish boxing wwas as big as it used to be. You have to be great to be overpayed and you literally put everything you have on the line.

  • my mannz jounyy U and lenn bias R I P

  • Nice Video. I really enjoyed this.

  • Did I see the 1969 Mets in there? It was a huge win for an expansion team that went from worst to first. Also did I miss seeing the Islanders in there? They won more cups than the Oilers.

  • @sirlawrencet 3:27 is the Islanders.

  • @allstarkid2365 There's plenty of MJ in there...you judge a 7-minute video by the first 2 seconds? Lol. Also if you had read the title ("20th Century") that would explain why there is no Kobe, Lebron and Wade. Yes I know Kobe debuted in '96 but was certainly no legend by '99. Iverson actually makes a brief appearance at 5:05.

  • @allstarkid2365 pretty much the dumbest post i ever saw... u obviously have to be 12... and not a sports fan cuz this gives me chills and brings me to tears everytime i see watch it

  • @allstarkid2365 that seriously might be the stupidest post in the history of Youtube, which is incredibly impressive, considering what kinds of morons post on youtube. Well done sir.

  • @allstarkid2365 it showed jordan

  • @allstarkid2365 yeah ...what are you complaining about....there are hardly any hispanics in this video...and we have plenty of great moments.

  • @allstarkid2365 you sound like a very uneducated person

  • who is that at 3:43????

  • @azimmerman9

Eddie Robinson, he coached @ Grambling State University for 50+ years....

  • ESPN is an American Network, no shit it's all American. It's like the BBC making a highlights thing, it would be all British. Duh.

  • Was that griffey at 6:13 and 6:20

  • @sivret20

6:13 is Joe Carter winning the 93 world series with a walk off HR against the Phillies. 6:20 is Griffey.

  • @ColdAsHe11 K thanks! I would be confused if they put him in there twice.

  • Although brief, I'm glad Secretariat's 31 length Belmont Stakes win made it.

  • GREAT VIDEO!!!!

    TK U

  • name of the song???

  • @pablotjob dream on- aerosmith

  • Aerosmith rocks, and so does this video!

  • tony hawk making the 900...amazing

  • I'm surprised Kerri Strug's one foot landing wasn't on here, or did I miss it?

  • @louisabjohnson Wow good point, yeah that one's not in there.

  • What was 3:43?

  • Nice to see Ali getting a lot of the video, the sporting icon of the 20th century

  • great choice of music

  • TO BAD I BORN IN LATE 90's

  • what was 4:05?

  • @crebuli Cal vs. Stanford, 1983(?)

  • @mustangGT33 cal vs stanford was 1982

  • i was hoping the video wouldnt end

  • one of the best sports videos i have ever seen

  • This totally rocks! Kudos to whoever took the time to put this together. Superb job! Just about everything covered. Loved how it was blended with the music. (Wish I had that talent!) The U.S. bias didn't even occur to me. It wouldn't surprise me if the guru of this video is already hatching a video of worldwide sports moments. Who can forget Vinko Bogataj? Yup...he was the "agony of defeat" ski jumper. ;) (Sorry! Please don't remove me!)

  • lol... hate everywhere. Of course it's based on US it's a predominantly US channel, they are playing to their audience. That's just business. I do hope everyone is aware of the American bias though, love it or hate it.

  • no red sox world series '04?

  • @ACSquadBoyz "the greatest sporting moments of the *20th* century. it was a great moment, but not in the 20th century

  • @ACSquadBoyz Reading the video title usually helps.

  • @mustangGT33 you should have show'd more of Dale Earnhardt winning the Daytona 500

  • @BobbyRossRacing93 I didn't make the video, lol.

  • @BobbyRossRacing93 oh yea sorry

  • @ACSquadBoyz dumbass

  • @ACSquadBoyz 2004 is not in the 20th century bro

  • @ACSquadBoyz These events happened in the 20th century. The 04 red sox was 21st

  • @ACSquadBoyz biggest dumbass on the internet

  • So glad NASCAR was in here. It's No. 2 in America, and people treat it like it's No. 20.

  • dam I love sports

  • Pls who is that man on 3:44? that black old crying man. thank you

  • 3:44 martin luther king jr ?

  • this is just so USA focused, which is really sad, you would think a company like ESPN would have the ambition to display great sporting moments from round the globe to educate its viewers, nobody even gives a shit about baseball outside the USA i can assure you

  • @MrKambge Read my comment marked "EVERYBODY READ."

  • @MrKambge It's because America is the greatest country in the world. And you're right...we really don't.

  • @MrKambge ...u can`t assure anything ....what about japan, korea venezuela ,puerto rico, dominican republic, nicaragua, canada??? baseball is not my favorite sport by the way....

  • @MrKambge wanna go tell the people in Cuba/Japan/Venezuela/Colombia/China/etc that they don't care about baseball?

  • @MrKambge i agree with you it is American focused i would have liked to have seen some other great sporting moments in this vid i could name a few.

  • @MrKambge Wow, how racist. Japan is no one? Cuba? Dominican Republic? I guess if non-whites play something, it doesn't matter to you. Sickening.

  • @Crabitat haha are you actually calling me a racist because i called baseball a sport based predominantly in the USA? what is the population of japan cuba and the dominican republic? A spread of about 4 nations, how come they don't show great sports moment of sports such as football (soccer to you americans) or in fact any sports which isn't USA based, theres a clear bias in this video don't try and slate me for pointing it out, i'm not being racist you fucking idiot

  • @MrKambge Go ahead and attack me, racist. it's what racists do. Enjoy your hateful life. Get help.

  • @Crabitat hahahahaha youre pathetic

  • @MrKambge whatever you say, Klansman

  • @MrKambge ya cause it dont matta...

  • @MrKambge Do you mean to tell me that a company based in the United States that has probably near 99% of its programming about sports played in the United States and Canada would limit its scope to those two countries.

Well color me fucking shocked, you retard.

Also baseball is quite popular in Central America and Japan, American Football would have been a better example. Perhaps use that one next time.

  • @LithiumZ2 ahh sorry man its just where i come from our broadcasting services (BBC) have a worldwide scope and perspective on things despite having the majority of programmes based in the UK. You fucking bigoted twat America isn't the centre of the world. And just because baseball is popular in one other country it doesn't make it a worldwide sport so its still a good example of a predominantly american based sport

  • @MrKambge yeah but no one gives a shit about sports not in america

  • 1:13 What happend there?

  • @SiNoLT The world's best tennis singles player in 1993, Monica Seles, was leading a quarter finals match against Magdaleeva Maleeva. Seles had a rivalry against another good player, Steffi Graf, throughtout the recent years. During a break in the match against Maleeva, a fan of Graf ran onto the court and stabbed Seles with a kitchen knife. She survived but didn't return to tennis for a while. That was a famous video of her.

  • This video can not have been anymore well put, highly inspirational and sent chills down my spine

  • @Joobs0917 6:28 its in there

  • 6:20 Ken griffey jr?

  • @frenchie18nine Randy Johnson.

  • lØl_ï_fÈÈl_sÓ_lÖnEly_tÕdáy

  • Not all of us are athletes.

But all of us play the game.

  • 2:54 greatest running back ever barry sanders. and i got a question what is that lady falling down at 2:29 so important.

  • @broncos429 its the 1998 wild card playoffs when steve young threw a touchdown to terrell owens to win the game 30-27. Mike Holmgren last game as head coach of the packers. Type it up on youtube

  • @ 6:31 - the man who saved baseball ~ just one season after the players' strike / owners' lockout... thank U, Cal.

  • ESPN... very typical ~ as always, this is a 1st-class production; not over-hyped & not a sermon... just an honest look-back at the last century in American sports! Very well done!

  • Was that the "shot heard round the world" at 2:00?

  • @moviehypno23: One line defines it: "The Giants won the pennant"!!! Everyone knows it like that...

  • @PhilipTheBigOne fuck the giants

  • @broncos429: I didn't say that I am a Giants fan...

  • @PhilipTheBigOne sorry i just really hate the giants, and the angels, and the yankees, and the celtics, and the miami heat, and the raiders, and the chargers, and the pats.

  • @broncos429: You don't have to apologize to me. From all those teams, I only like the Celtics. My favorite NBA teams are the Bulls and the Hawks.

  • @PhilipTheBigOne i hate the bulls and the hawks to. ... jk. who would u rather c in th finals the bulls or the hawks

  • @moviehypno23 bobby thompson hit a hr i think. any ways the giants ended up winning the dodgers and the pennant.

  • This is an awesome video...So emotional.

  • "a shot on ehlo" "And the bulls win!"

  • I have another question....what is that clip at 1:06????

  • @N3lsito1 Google "Munich Massacre" and click the Wiki page. In short, terrorists at the 1972 Olympics.

  • Can anyone tell me what that clip was at 1:13

  • @homeboy590 Figure skater Nancy Kerrigan, after being attacked by some guy hired by her rival, Tonya Harding.
