  • God dam thisis sooo confusing! Use FL Studio =P its much easier, (thats just my opinion)

  • @xxxconkerxxx Funny, I feel the same way about FL Studio ;)

  • What's the name of that bass centering plug in? Could really do with something like that

  • @C4pitalise You actually don't need one. You can use the built in Ableton Equalizer (8), and set it to M/S mode, switch to stereo mode, and then lower the bass region. Works like a charm!

  • So you use vengeance too?

    Lol,EVERYONE USES VENGEANCE :D

  • nice video!! But please would you tell me what's the name of the software ?

  • @khizobtata You mean Ableton?

  • -Your kick is just a straight sample with no compression or eq on it (I always thought this was a must!)

-All your compressors have the same settings, which happen to be the default settings (I have spent ages tweaking the att/rel/knee settings etc to not much avail)

-You only use insert reverbs, once again with the default settings (I always thought we were meant to use sends for reverbs)

You made me realise that no matter how simple, if it sounds good it works!

    tack sa mycket!

  • @zetaborealis I must have gotten lazy :) On the other hand, you're quite right, if it sounds good it sounds good.

  • Thank you for this video. I have always wanted a straight up explanation of a track like it. It helps me a lot.

  • is this airbase?

  • When listening to the track there are pads from 3:58 but when I look at the arrangement here I only see sidechained strings?

  • its such a relief to see trance tutorials by actual professionals and not 12 year olds who just have a kick snare and open hat

  • How many tracks is usual, you say there's usually more than 18?

Is there anything on the master?

    Thanks!

  • i have a problem with live, i can only use one chord or eles it doesnt work. i hope im explaining this righ. for example, your strings you used in this video use like 5 chords but if i do that it startes playing all the sounds randomly and not together, can anyone help?

  • Don't worry about giving away your tricks man, its a brave move and we love you for it!

Its not the origin of the sound that matters its how to use it, and you used these sounds perfectly.

    Airbase = awesomness

  • oh man... thats looks so easy , but I know - its not!

thumbs up, about this producigs stuff sharing!

  • you are awesome, amazing tutorial video, please put more on youtube.

    This song is sick

  • thank you! being able to see all the effect chains are very helpful.. thanks!

  • thanks for the tutorial, I always can learn something new!

  • Bro you one of the only professionals who show how they construct a track. The other being 7skies. It's very help for all of us. Keep up the good work and keep them coming.

    Thanks.

  • @mullinizle13, I think that's the Z3TA plugin but u could probably make that sound with most synths, it sounds like the one prodigy used in the beginning of 'poison'

  • what synth did the 2nd bassline come from @ 5:08 ?? that sound is amazing

  • Thanks for sharing the info, was good.

  • I think what your doing here is fantastic. You have made it in the industry and here you are trying to help others.

This is most generous and I for one thank you as music production to me is very important. You are helping me to improve. I hope for your sake Karma exists as I have sent you a ton :]

  • How did you construct this main lead... for instance, where did you get this sample from.

  • @Cinnafury lol, samples for lead? :P

  • @CVicccen I know this sounds n00b, but i have zippo experience with producing tracks and certainly not with ableton so.

  • fan jesper, din musik är så jävla underbar!, awesome tutorial ;)

  • Thanks Jasper! This video was very helpful. I never realized there were so many cymbal crashes that went into a track, and that's exactly what my tracks were lacking. Kudos!

  • I have a question, what effect you are use in Master Channel? Limiter, Compressor? Izotope Ozone? or something

  • Hey! First of all... great tutorial and awesome track there!! I have 1 question... When I arrange things I never seem to have enough room for the main melody since the other sounds are to loud and the melody doesent even come up..

  • On his studio PC he has Windows running, and on his Macbook OSX

  • one of the best tracks ever made!

btw where can i get sylenth from?

  • Without a doubt, the BEST arrangement example video on the planet !!!

    Thank you!!

  • what software is he using?

  • @cncmasterw Appleton Live.

  • thats Is he using MAC? or PC?

  • @cncmasterw > Mac.

  • shrugs

I have nothing against the mac but i prefer pc I like messing around with macs at the store

  • He's using windows not mac, if it were mac there would be an apple symbol in the menu bar because thats how OSX works, plus when he opens the VST plugin you can see the windows title bar not Mac.

  • My bad then .. looks alot like MAC.

    Maybe im wrong :)

But as "djgraviate" said, Live can run Mac and PC.

  • Ableton has versions to run on both mac and PC

  • Does anyone know where the BS Ibizabazz SA is? It is not in the standard bank.

  • @nielshesp i need this aswell if anyone can help

  • bit(dot)ly / 7Pjmxo

  • Thanks tons :)

  • Great tutorials buddy! How about a mastering tutorial, that would be very much appreciated!

  • good job

  • Thanks a lot Airbase !!!!

  • Lol, I saw a Vengeance Essential Clubsounds 3 ;)

  • Comment removed

  • Är det samplepacks eller vst du använder för att göra dina kickar, claps, och grooves osv.? :)

  • What type of sample/software are you using for your sweep fx? A tutorial on that would be great! Thanks and keep up the great work :)

  • Are you using additional sylenth soundbanks? I've never came across those presets you use.

Great work by the way. It's great to see an accomplished producer going out of his way to help others!

  • what was osc and other settings on z3ta(plucker) because default sound plucker preset doesnt sound like in ur track??

  • excellent class of Back !!!!!!yeah thanks buddy! and more more class in production! again greetings and congratulations!

  • the melody \ pad at the breakdown reminds me of the xbox game fable, and the main rocky melody after reminds me of christmas!

    you are the g8est Airbase ! :D

  • Hey Jesper, what VST are using to lower the width of the delay? And is it similar to Waves S1?

Thanks for all your help, this is amazing!

  • Jesper, I salute you. Everytime i watch one of your videos, it gives me the inspiration to go make a track INSTANTLY, and everytime i make a track after watching ione of your videos I make a belter!! I guess thats why you make these videos, to keep producers evolving and getting better, well man, your definately helping me, i use your ideas and techniques, and make my own music with them, never copying your work, but the Airbase sound is definatly in there!

    Ableton live and Airbase FTW!!!!!

  • where is that drum loop in loop 1 from? it sounds alot cleaner than vengeance sample.

  • Just a question, I see that you use z3ta+. What I am wondering about is how you got it to work on a mac. The versions that I see for sale only work on windows.

  • See info on the right. All previous videos are recorded on Mac, but not this one.

  • @AirbaseOfficial haha phew. The z3ta track in this video caught my attention as well, but then i relized the whole thing is in fact, running Windows. This will be a most missed synth when i switch from Sonar 8 to Ableton [mac]. Sylenth, here i come.

  • just wonderin....

why do you put each drum on a different track instead of using drum racks? Nothing bad, just wonderin if there was maybe some pros to doing it your way

  • It's easier to automate when using filters and you can collectively see what you are doing.

  • you can control the sound in a more precise way if you do that

  • Yeah i know this song.

  • Thanks a lot!

  • excellent, insight into your track, I must try harder to use Lives own plugins, What settings and plugins do you have on the master channel generally? could you do a short vid

  • hi five for jes brillant production tutorails and many thanks for showing us your tricks and tips many thanks djharpo xxx

  • Hi Jezper, just bought 'Back' from beatport, great track :)

Thanks for all your youtube videos, they have helped me immensely with my own trance productions - keep it up!

What is the best way to send you a track of mine?

  • Jezper please keep on giving away your tricks and make us so happy trance addicts :D

By the way I have a question: I see your production looks so complete in Ableton that I'm wondering if you need mastering it afterall. So, do you master by yourself or have some audio engineer from the label doing it?

Thanks alot, you are a EDM genius!

  • Loops are from BestService XX-Large No Kick

  • just one word: AWESOME!

    fuc**ng great :D

    awesome music

    Back (Original Mix) :D

  • Hi, Jezper!

Can you tell me, what you are using on Master channel?

    Thank you.

  • hey jezper; im an upcoming producer and i've just switched from fruity loops to ableton live. i am starting to feel comfortable with the program but im still confused on able to load third party plugins to ableton live. is there a folder that i should put them in? and also i can't draw notes when i want to make melodies, i can only record. please help! :)

  • Jesper :D

Big thx for sharing your knowledge with us :) My first release (if it will ever happen) - will be dedicated to you!!!

    Cheers!

  • share the secret of screen recorder's name with us, please...

  • CamStudio, ut's freeware!

  • WE LOVE AIRBASE !!!

  • "juicy content"...=)..........ill be waiting.......so....the main thing i noticed is you like Reverb,Compressor,EQ'ing,(especially the low end)............awesome energy from this track,,,,,so simple and powerful,,,,how every trance song should be.....grattis =) -Terbo

  • Do you mean like BassLane? I've come to realise you can use the EQ Eight to do the same thing. Just switch it to L/R mode and you can adjust it there too.

  • what program you use to record?

  • which track is this?

  • thanks jezper :) basslane really does work wonders in the main mix, tried applying it to some tracks in master chan and it really does change the dynamic of the track since the focus point moves from bass to stereo field \o/

  • Thank you Airbase! I love your music!!! I LOVE TRANCE!!

  • Hmm, what screen recorder are you using?

Anyway, thanks for the tut there. :D

  • thanx for your this nice approach on your tune!, most difficult part for me is always arranging, new ideas always come up and make my mix longer than expected, how about a basic arranging video next time (length of intro's breakdowns, build up's and outros) i' really like what you're doing, so many producers are always too jealous to share this kinda stuff, but not you! right on

    cheers from mexico

  • yes the mix arrangement looks so crisp and clean, how about a tutorial example track from start to finish, that would be wicked!!

  • From what sample pack is the one in Loop 1?

  • requesting a video on EQing! thanks for the great videos

  • me 2 ^^

  • Yes I would love to discover more secrets about removing bottom end properly and getting bass to sit and gel with drums, with eq.

  • This inspired me to start making music again after a pause of 1.5 years! Thanks alot!

  • you're so nice to do that for composers! Keep it up!

  • you are a legend

  • Thank you for this!!! Do you recommend a certain webpage to get claps and percussion loops?

  • use any of t vengeance essential clubsounds will be more than enough

  • Do you not use any EQ or Comp on your kick? I'm using FL so maybe I missed it in the video but I could see that you use these effects on the bassline etc.

    Grymt tutorial annars! :D Tack!

  • This is sweet. Thanks again for another awesome tutorial Jezper!

  • Comment removed

  • ok i have it find :D

  • Jezper, why exactly you remove some frequencies on bassline and main lead.. look like 120hz area and 250hz area

  • I do a lot of sweeping with my instruments: Pushing up a narrow envelope on an EQ as high as it can go, then I sweep the whole spectrum to find frequences I don't like, and when I find them, I push that enveloope down below the middle to surpress it.

  • great tutorial!

    wow

tanx to you i like to make music again!

  • KICK ASS BRO!!

    Thank you :)

  • this is very good. I learnt a ton

  • these kinds of videos give me almost as much help, if not more, than the videos that only show how to do a specific effect or something. These kinds of videos are very nice because they show just how all the different parts of a song come together to form a complete song. very, very helpful and i will definetley be referring to this video again in the future. keep em' coming Airbase!

  • It's like a symphony :) These tutorials and your personal youtube channel have really made me into a proud Airbase fan!

  • Hi mate!

    Nice tutorial!

What samplepack is the "135 NK 18A" from?

It's the loop you've cut at the second beat, leaving only the hihat (no claps), around 6 minutes.

  • y Jessper,do you use a compressor on the base drum?on this video, you didnt used it.

  • Where can i to find to the Sylenth1 the "BS Ibizabazz SA" preset? Or you did this preset Jezper? ^^

  • i find it :D

Good to see, how the pro's work ;)

  • Hi Jezper, i love this track and I Love your production..

  • I was wondering how you applied a reason effect to a channel within ableton, without even touching on rewire and was going to ask you about it, but now, I'll just try the plug-in.

  • Not sure exactly what you mean, but there's no Reason effects in this track.

  • I didn't have a youtube account, (funny cause I work right across youtube offices in San Bruno CA) but I created one just to express my appreciation and admiration at the same time. You are a top producer, I have been following your work for years. The track blew me away when I heard it on asot. Thank you for the video, I believe you are helping a lot of young artists get on the right track and I am sure you will get rewarded for that one way or the other! Again, YOU ROCK!

  • my fault I thought you said the plugin was a "reason favorite" not recent.

  • Ah, sorry for my wacky english and sloppy pronounciation :)

  • How long did it take from you to make this track?

  • Awesome video thanks Airbase! One quick question. What is the plugin called that you are using after the ping pong delay to reduce the width? Thanks!

  • It's called BassLane, and it's free. I can't put URLs here, so just google BassLane and it should be the first reply. It's by otiumFX.

  • I Guess that he asked about The Utility Plugin that Comes with Live.

Anyway, very nice video. The track is excellent. Keep it up!

  • It's the stock Utility Plug in that comes with Ableton.

  • Thank you very much for theese videos, I have finally migrated from Reason to Ableton, also you inspired me on recording some new tracks :)

BTW, will you ever show to the public the "behind the scenes" of your track Escape? ;) It's my favorite track...

And one more question - what is your PC configuration? I assume it's very powerful cuz you use a lot of effects and synths but nevertheless it's interesting.

  • No plans to do more behind the scenes right now, but who knows :)

My PC is a Core 2 Quad Q6600 2,4 GHz, 4Gb Ram, Audiophile 2496 soundcard and 2 TB of disks + backup. It's good enough for me, really loving this rig. Currently running XP but I think I'll up the version for next re-install. It's been 3 years since, so it's soon time to make a fresh install.

  • Nice tutorial! Got new tricks out of it.

You're really picky about those frequencies. :D

Check out my new creation :)

  • Jezper,

like I already twittered to you, great tutorial again. Thanks for giving us such a great look in your trance kitchen!! :-) Very inspirational for all of us! Thanks again!

    Greg - The Netherlands

  • Im Really Glad trance is not dead yet ,im with you Jezper! this your tutorial helps me more to grab the real trance music.

  • Jezper, I absolutely LOVE your videos & music, thanks so much.

  • Nice video. Your song inspired me, and so did your work. I'm actually thinking about remixing the song.

  • i love the second bass really does sound like an early trance track...great song jezper

  • Another superb tutorial Jez, very helpful too. :) Keep up the superb work!

  • that volume thing with the clap is nice haha

    great idea!

  • i've been making stuff up myself here and there for about the last 8-9 years now. and i'm alway wanting to learn more on how programs work and stuff. i think this is awsome showing your tricks of the trade! I've had a copy of ableton for awile and I've only just realised how fantastic the program is. I'm more of a Reason person. Thanks Jezpers.

  • wow volume automation on the claps are something i've never thought of. nice, thanks for sharing!

  • Usual trick actually :)

  • this is great!

  • nice.. thanks for sharing your mind here. its absolutely awesome source for new producers.

  • nothing strange :-D

  • So this is how the making of "Back" looks like.

FLOCKIN' ACE~! I'm gonna have to wait a little bit for HD shows up though.

You bet I'll rate this 5 stars later on. \:D/

    // Roth

  • thanks Jezper! btw where is HD version. i cant see small things :)

  • Youtube is a bit slow with the HD conversion. It will show up real soon.
