I like this song. It reminds me of the Japanese cartoon: Nadesico. I imagine the character Yurika Misumaru singing this song. I also imagne the character Izumi Maki playin this song on her keyboard.
1989, Thursdays nights at O'tooles in T'Bay. Deluca and Watling spinning "Hooowwsseee"!! 120 beats/minute and black Russians. Tammy, Rina , Linda, working the floor , Jim behind the bar and the regular thursday night crew packing the place to the rafters. behind the bar. Forget about "The Prospector" or "The Brewpub"....we had it all down on Memorial Avenue!!!!!
This was the favourite song of a girl I really fancied at college. Thanks for that memory... I can't remember what I had for breakfast ..but i'll never forget Vicky! :-)
@uckadalma AMEN to that.... I am soooooo sick of the radio in the US... I either listen to my youtube or my account on tunein where I can listen to my own music from my country, Haiti.....
LOL....I USE TO RUN THE FLOOR ON THIS TRACK...IT STILL KILLS ME...WOOO BABY..LOL...RESPECT MEEEEEEE! HOY HOY....LOL....WHAT A MESS SHE WAS! LOL...BEST REMAKE OF AN ARETHA FRANKIN EVER!!!!
@musicmsl actually, Aretha remade it from a good friend of hers...Otis Redding...Ms. Franklin put a feminent twist on the song at the right time & this became the ultimate female anthem to men, esp. the male chauvinist types
i remember this track used to be all over the dance complilations, radio and MTV in the late 80s and early 90s, but seems to have been forgotten recently. Even Id forgot about it till stumbling on it just!
I couldn't remember who did this original cover of the Otis Redding tune made famous by Aretha Franklin, so I'm glad I found this version. Thought it came out in the '90s, though! Late '80s dance music, baby!
the first time i heard this song was long ago and I loved this sound and voice.I still do enjoy it!!great song and voice and terrific music!!respect me,respect is the most important thing in life.Without respect,no fun,no laugh,no friendship...
awweee shucks... back to the old school house days. I was just on the cusp of going to all the old school Clubs NYC.. Mars, RedZone, Morrisey, Tunnel... back in '89. I was 18/19 then so I totally feel ya on that comment eurocaligirl.

I'm with you on that one, eurocaligirl. I had this very mix on vinyl when I was a teen. This was true house music - sad, wistful violins, easy groove, thick beat. That stuff they call 'House' now? Uh, uh.
man the song still gives me chills too - me and my boys used to RIP up the dance floor on this....Lil Louis. Lil Louie Vega, naked Music joints....fast Eddie - all them cats
Oh yeah this takes me back!. I was only 10 years old when I first heard this tune or Radio 1, and this is one of my all time fave Old skool tunes ever. That melody that kicks in at about 1:05 is still sends a tingle to my spine, even to this day. Respect for uploading this classic tune!

2011 .Why can't we hear anymore some good uplifting sensational music like this on FM radio nowadays ?
We are so disgusted of most of todays angry ganasta hip hop that the only way to feel better is to turn off the radio !!!

My favourite track too gutted I sold the 12" (when it came out) to a mate after I recorded it on to tape.
But will he ever sell it back to me? No probably not!
