man sweet became such a different band... without a real purpose are we rock or are we just disco pop... music gods decided there faith along with so many seventies bands who where cast out by the rock gods..
@hugobear1 lousy promotion by capitol PERIOD id bet my life if capitol did half of what they were supposed to the outcome would of quite possibly changed the path poor Brian chose and that would of definitly would of lead to more tours
I absolutely love this song....all the sweet members proved to be very creative, each of them in their particular way. Glad that "Fountain" is available on video
Fountain is one of those great track The Sweet put on their albums, that no-one got to hear. Andy as a very serious Rock Star and Musician, with the band the way he wanted it to sound. Fantastic.
unfortunatly for the band and the fans this was brians last album with the band as he spiralled into alcoholisim i read somewhere that during the 78 us tour that brian wouldnt show up for the concerts and it would wind up being just andy mick and steve and thats how it ended four yeats later these guys are the most underrated band ever in rock and mick the most underrated drummer ever
no big secret that andy and brian where not the best of friends i think andy once said that it was a big mistake letting brian go. Brian at the time needed rehab not to be given the boot come on andy no matter what u guys where still friends at some level brian deserved better than the fate that awaited him.
I don't understand how some people call this simple music and they only used three cords on every song. Rubbish. I think Sweet and Kiss don't get enough respect for what they did. Both bands made some original sound changing music.
Kiss? Yuck. You can't compare, SWEET, to Kiss. Kiss couldn't play, to save their lives. Gene Simmons, why don't you learn how to play bass guitar. I can outplay your whole band, singlehanded. You hack!!!
@ScottAnderson1948 Interesting that Kiss was mentioned This is what I was listening too when my friends were listening too Kiss back in the Mid seventies. I told them the reason was that these guys were far more talented to say the least.
@ScottAnderson1948 then why aren't you out there making it big dumb ass .... I lover Sweet but KISS are the gods of rock and I love sweet waay more and longer than KISS but Kiss are the gods and if you can outplay them I'd love to see it PROVE IT MOTHER FU**ER BAHHHAAAHAAAAHAAAHHHHAAAA
Hey, neither my original vinyl record OR my CD of this album has that extended harpsichord or whatever it's called--solo at the end. They have the solo, but not this extended version. Is the extended version available on CD anywhere??? Thanks!
they split before they realized how good they were with the original line up. They were not able to sit together at the table. Sad, but they raised a milestone inthe history of rock and roll. This song says a lot about the unknown rumours inside the band.SWEET forever...
once the band decided to lose the shackles of Chinn/Chapman the real Sweet emerged with a vengeance wow knew the song never seen video thankyou a masterclass
Brilliant! Never seen this on video before, though its always been one of my fave tracks off the album. This was pretty much the final throws of the Sweet we all know and love, so watch, enjoy and remember the good times! Brian and Mick - gone but NEVER forgotten.
Just ordered the album Level Headed with this one and Love Is Like Oxygen on it. This for sure must be the most ELO-ish album that Sweet made. Heck, on first sight I even thought it could be Richard Tandy there on keyboards. This song really is a very nice surprise. Never heard it before. Much thanks for posting it!
Great song, introspective melody complete with a terrific guitar solo in the middle and even some harpsichord at the end. Didn't even know it up until a few minutes ago. I defintely will purchase a CD with this tune if it's available right now.
endora i agree 100% but dont forget by this point brian had been wailing for well over a decade if he hadnt allowed pride and the bottle get in his way he could have been with sweet for a lot longer whether they could have renewed their former success or even better only god knows
Some of you folks, blame only Brian for the brake and his addict to the "bottle", but that's just scratching of the surface. Brian would never, ever, left the band (he formed with Mick) if he wasn't forced to leave. Drinking problem worsened when they made Level Headed with Brian just on the half of it and finally kicked him out while recording Cut above the rest, with songs mostly written in the A key which Brian wasn't able to sing!

This is one hard to find! A friend of mine had the vinyl back in 1983. I recorded on cassette, you know... then I lost the tape. Too bad I could not find it UP TO NOW! I still sing it (I know the lyrics by heart) every time I can.
Superb song, I sort of remember the sweet when I was really young, although have only got into them recently. I think at least half the band is dead now.
OK, call me a purist, but IMO a good Sweet song can only be made better if Brian's singing it. Why waste a vocalist of his calibre? Not that Scott's a lousy singer, but compared to the guy who was SUPPOSED to be the lead singer, he's not much.
There's alot of songs Brian didn't sing back in the day. Lady Starlight, No You Don't, Into the Night among others. Plus, Andy had the highest of highest falsettos and made that trademark Sweet Harmonies.
The more I listen to these more obscure Sweet songs, the more I believe they could have been hits..This song in particular is a pretty timeless piece. I does not sound dated at all to me.
I knew that they were good musicians when I listen to Desolation Blvd. Set Me Free and Sweet F.A. was a good example, and that little jazzy break in Solid Gold Brass showed their versatility.

Man, unbelievable how, nowadays, rappers and hot blondes become really famous with 2 videoclips....
On the other hand, Sweet(and many others) made, like, 5 or 6 ALBUMS filled with really really amazing songs, and never got the deserved fame...
That sux, imagine if all of these bands were really famous, they would keep making amazing songs.
