I sang this masterpiece with Arnol Schoenberg Chor (Boris Beresovski piano, dir. de Billy) at Theater an der Wien when I was in Wien as a student at practice. It was 200 anniversary of the first performance in 1808 :) Nice memories...

we performed this piece for our university CHORAL ENSEMBLE class. This was the first time I ever performed with a full orchestra (the UAE philharmonic, conbducted by Phillip Maier. Brings back such great memories. Thanks for posting! ;)
I am so sorry for my all too late answer, but yes they are americans. This is the NY Phil performing under Zubin Metha, together with the NY Choral Artists. Pianist is Emanuel Ax, and the song-soloists are Margaret Price (soprano), Marilyn Horne (mezzo-sop.), Jon Vickers (ten.) and Matti Salminen (bass).

Who performs here?
The German singing is trained well, but its not a German native tongue.
By the way they sing glicklich and not glücklich, it must be American. Right?
