  • I sang this masterpiece with Arnol Schoenberg Chor (Boris Beresovski piano, dir. de Billy) at Theater an der Wien when I was in Wien as a student at practice. It was 200 anniversary of the first performance in 1808 :) Nice memories...

  • Beethoven is great. but Sound Quality is not great

  • @dodie9 Listen to this music with some good head phones. PC speakers are for listening to people, not good music

  • Divine! A joy to listen to such invigorating music"

  • Today is the anniversary of the premier of the Choral Fantasy

  • Who performs here?

The German singing is trained well, but its not a German native tongue.

By the way they sing glicklich and not glücklich, it must be American. Right?

  • I am so sorry for my all too late answer, but yes they are americans. This is the NY Phil performing under Zubin Metha, together with the NY Choral Artists. Pianist is Emanuel Ax, and the song-soloists are Margaret Price (soprano), Marilyn Horne (mezzo-sop.), Jon Vickers (ten.) and Matti Salminen (bass).
