@dregg The designer of this car WAS the lead designer for Audi. You will see a lot of European influence in this car. The dash design reminds me of a SAAB. I bought this car a couple of weeks ago to replace my 2008 Dodge Avenger (which I hated). So far my whole family loves this car. It is a huge step up for the Dodge.
@Annihilator1111 We have the LX with the 6 speed auto trans. I only have about 700 miles on the car now but it is getting around 25 mpg in city type driving. For the amount of features you get on this car there is nothing that comes close to it for the price. All around great value.
@Annihilator1111 The Kia and Hyundai of today is light years ahead of the 80's models. I actually had a 2001 Hyundai Elantra that I had for about 85k miles. That car was only in the shop once for something other than normal oil/filter type service and that problem was completely covered by the warranty. I got my Dodge Avenger in 2008 after having the Elantra for so many years. The Dodge was in the shop within a month for a major problem with the electronics.
Incomplete Transmission calibration means it isn't ready for production, once the transmission is calibrated and the car is on sale, it will be much faster. So don't jump to conclusions yet. Just for all those who missed that technical note in the vid. Looks good, time will tell if it is also a good performer.

And your civic would not spank it, because as the video said, their was incomplete tranny calibration, which means the production model will be ready to do about a 0-60 in 6 sec or so I imagine. And the resale value on the kia is gonna go down right away by a lot. you would be lucky to find an older evo ix at under 28K. I dont think its fair to price the kia at that price. My point is that many reviews unduly focus on 0-60 when that isn't the real issue with most cars and car buyers. I've seen some reviewers slag family cars for having crappy pass times. I think it looks real nice after I saw one when leaving from work at Amazon, a couple weeks ago. Especially wth the HIDs and little kit, but the acceleration numbers are kinda poop!!!! Thats a lot of hp in the turbo model, like 270 or something around there but still only a near 16sec 1/4mile time?? Thats awful, my 2004 G35x had 260 and did way better than that crap. But looks good though and probably gets a lot better gas than the G35, but the performance numbers are garbage I must say.

My mom got this car 2months ago and I friggen love it ! Great on gas and not so rough with the roads like most cars are. The style of the car inside and out is amazing! We got the pearl color and its beauty after you wash it and see it at night. .. Wow did we ever get the right choice.
@IRllyDunnoU No, on the outside front bumper under the right headlight. It looks like a place for a distance sensor, but I don't see it in the owner's manual. Looks like a small cutout that popsout. Someone told me it hides the hook to tow the car since my last post here. But just seems like an odd location for a tow attachment.

@IRllyDunnoU I asked a tow truck driver and he confirms its to tow the car. Apparently the tow hitch doesn't need to be in the middle. A tow truck driver told me they have to often hook off center when towing a vehicle anyway. Doesn't make too much sense to me, but I guess thats how it is for this car.

@pattycarljackson , I almost bought a Sonnatta, a year ago. Ride was good, interior was nice, but body styling was UGLY. THe Car actually looks Small and Mousy. Reminds me of a cockroach. And The way the front hood slopes in the front I coudnt see the end of the hood even from a high driver seat position. I bought the white Optima SX seen in the above video. The both share the same chasis/ frame but the styling on The Kia is soo much cooler. But Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Nice test of this car at the Kia/Hyundai Proving Grounds in the High Desert outside of California City, CA. I get to ride my quad out near there and see them testing all kinds of new cars! Great Job!!!! Nice car..
This car is so purdy, and looks way better in person. i test dove hyundai before buying the kia optima last week. The hyundai is not bad, but the kia smokes it in all aspects of looks inside and out, and the drive. For the price, i cant believe all the options you get for 30,000. Lots of peeps are so concerned with the Kia name being on the car, who friggen cares. You like the car, buy one and stop being so concerned with name brands.

@pattycarljackson They are the same company so engineering is similar with both brands. They both make good cars. Working the automotive field I am starting to see a lot of 03+ kias rolling in with nearly 200k on the clock and still holding up very well. Ive seen 2005 Kias used as fleet cars with over 300,000 miles on the odometer and still running with minimal problems.
Just like Hyundai Kia is being transformed from an economy Korean brand to some serious competition.....just look at this optima!....Kia deserves a Standing Ovation.
I have a 2010 Kia forte LX and am probably gonna buy the Optima if it drives similar to the forte . The Koreans are the new Japanese I guess . Samsung is already kicking Sony 's ass in televisions and now they want to beat the Japanese in the Automobile sector too..
I bought the 2011 LX. This car is the shiznit! I was looking at the Sonata but the body and the "interior" smokes the Sonata! On road power and torque is more than you will need. Believe me, I've tested it. Hard to believe that KIA could put this kinda vehichle out on the market at the price they did. The LX comes with in-board mirror turn signals. You have to upgrade the Sonata to get this feature. Just drive one folks and you will be pleasently surprised! One negative - Suspension is tight!
I bought the EX with the convenience and technology packages without the turbo. I love to drive it and it looks fantastic. Everyone thinks it is a Lexus. In fact I was at the Toyota dealership today, looking for a Tacoma, and the salesman asked how I liked my lexus. I had to tell him it was a Kia. He wanted to check it out, so there I stood at a Toyota dealership with two of their salesmen looking at my Optima. They both were blown away by this car. That says a lot about this car.

My dad drives a 2009 BMW 535i and when we where at the traffic light this Kia Optima pulled up right beside us. Its true although I am a luxury sports car enthusiast me and my dad where in complete awe to find out it was a Kia!!! I'm still taken back by it, I was expecting it be some kind of Jag or Audi after seeing its LED tail lights, although performance wise its a let down.
Yes! It say's alot when beemer and merc drivers are staring your car down! Like "what the hell is that!" And the standard features are incredible! My dealership went one step beyond and actually hand pinstriped my Optima!
This model of the Optima is definitely the best looking I have ever seen. Kia is making a name for themselves. I'm not saying anything bad about Japanese cars, but I would definitely consider one of these first. The price is right and did I mention that this car is gorgeous. I am positively putting Hyundai and Kia at the top of my favorite foreign car list. Sorry Nissan.

All the hybrids on the market use NiMH (Nickel-Metal Hydride) batteries, which contain no heavy metals (so they're not hazardous waste, like the Pb-A batteries), and are easily recycled. Often they'll have labels on the packs themselves listing who to contact to recycle them, and often there's a nice cash bounty reward as well (Toyota's $200). The energy could come from a wind farm or solar energy, the sun is the real clean energy of the future.

I bought this car when they first arrived in Jan.This is a redesigned new car.I am sooooo glad I bought this car.This car "ROCKS".I got the red color and people always comment to me how nice the car looks.Hey,you get 5yrs., or 100,000mi.,what the heck more do you want?Handles great,200hp is plenty for me,the dashboard is really hot,Nobody has rear lights as nice looking as the new Kia Optima,that means a lot me,how a car looks from the rear and front.Good job Kia!I'm a loyal Kia owner now.

Beautiful car, however maybe it's just me but the headlights reminds me of the new generation honda accord coupe and the rims almot like the accord sedan lx rims. That's my opion though. I wouldn't mind having one in my garage or the sonata very sexy cars for sure!!

My mom got this car 2months ago and I friggen love it ! Great on gas and not so rough with the roads like most cars are. The style of the car inside and out is amazing! We got the pearl color and its beauty after you wash it and see it at night. .. Wow did we ever get the right choice.

@IRllyDunnoU No, on the outside front bumper under the right headlight. It looks like a place for a distance sensor, but I don't see it in the owner's manual. Looks like a small cutout that popsout. Someone told me it hides the hook to tow the car since my last post here. But just seems like an odd location for a tow attachment.

@IRllyDunnoU I asked a tow truck driver and he confirms its to tow the car. Apparently the tow hitch doesn't need to be in the middle. A tow truck driver told me they have to often hook off center when towing a vehicle anyway. Doesn't make too much sense to me, but I guess thats how it is for this car.

@pattycarljackson , I almost bought a Sonnatta, a year ago. Ride was good, interior was nice, but body styling was UGLY. THe Car actually looks Small and Mousy. Reminds me of a cockroach. And The way the front hood slopes in the front I coudnt see the end of the hood even from a high driver seat position. I bought the white Optima SX seen in the above video. The both share the same chasis/ frame but the styling on The Kia is soo much cooler. But Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

This car is so purdy, and looks way better in person. i test dove hyundai before buying the kia optima last week. The hyundai is not bad, but the kia smokes it in all aspects of looks inside and out, and the drive. For the price, i cant believe all the options you get for 30,000. Lots of peeps are so concerned with the Kia name being on the car, who friggen cares. You like the car, buy one and stop being so concerned with name brands.

@pattycarljackson They are the same company so engineering is similar with both brands. They both make good cars. Working the automotive field I am starting to see a lot of 03+ kias rolling in with nearly 200k on the clock and still holding up very well. Ive seen 2005 Kias used as fleet cars with over 300,000 miles on the odometer and still running with minimal problems.

I bought the 2011 LX. This car is the shiznit! I was looking at the Sonata but the body and the "interior" smokes the Sonata! On road power and torque is more than you will need. Believe me, I've tested it. Hard to believe that KIA could put this kinda vehichle out on the market at the price they did. The LX comes with in-board mirror turn signals. You have to upgrade the Sonata to get this feature. Just drive one folks and you will be pleasently surprised! One negative - Suspension is tight!

I bought the EX with the convenience and technology packages without the turbo. I love to drive it and it looks fantastic. Everyone thinks it is a Lexus. In fact I was at the Toyota dealership today, looking for a Tacoma, and the salesman asked how I liked my lexus. I had to tell him it was a Kia. He wanted to check it out, so there I stood at a Toyota dealership with two of their salesmen looking at my Optima. They both were blown away by this car. That says a lot about this car.

My dad drives a 2009 BMW 535i and when we where at the traffic light this Kia Optima pulled up right beside us. Its true although I am a luxury sports car enthusiast me and my dad where in complete awe to find out it was a Kia!!! I'm still taken back by it, I was expecting it be some kind of Jag or Audi after seeing its LED tail lights, although performance wise its a let down.

This model of the Optima is definitely the best looking I have ever seen. Kia is making a name for themselves. I'm not saying anything bad about Japanese cars, but I would definitely consider one of these first. The price is right and did I mention that this car is gorgeous. I am positively putting Hyundai and Kia at the top of my favorite foreign car list. Sorry Nissan.
