  • awesome video...brings back tons of memories

  • I was working for the Mapco on 510 and 512 in Sebastian, Fl its now a Sunoco . There are Mapcos in Tenneseeand Alabama

  • Seeing this brought back so many memories taking that route to JC Beach as a youth. Give yourself a pat on the back for loading this one. many of todays kids only know of what we tell them was there.

  • Thanks for the memory! I miss that bridge.

  • I caught a black drum near the bridge station nazi guy. He would stop trafic for shits and giggles. I'm not kidding; this guy would stop the bridge for a canoe. It was crazy.

  • I remember riding my bike over that every single day to school! Brings back some wild memories. Thanks for sharing.

  • I had a good friend die on that bridge

  • Just wondering, was your friend the guy that worked at beachland elementary? I have lived here my whole life, I remember that from probably the early 90's. I'm very sorry for your friend and you. RIP

  • The old draw bridge often made me late for work at the airport account we lived on Banyan. TheLemleys

  • wish video was a little longer

  • hah, this is so cool. That bridge was gone before I was born. I wish i could have seen it, even though i have a weird phobia of bridges... =3 neato video. It's so weird seeing the bridge i've been on for so many years not even completed yet.

  • Brings back memories. And you can see the new bridge being built, too!

  • this was filmed on the day i was born. about 5 hours after thow lol my mom told me about this because it was in the news paper

  • It really does bring back memories. Thanks Russ for pointing me to this video.

  • WOAH! ive lived in vero all my life! im only 20 but i feel so old now! lol

  • ... I was 15 at the time and it doesn't seem like it was that long ago... now I'm feeling old :)

  • I also recall the bumps of the bridge and trying to keep my motorcycle from not sliding on the metal grating.

  • I remember fishing off of this bridge back when I was 15 years old with my father.....too bad the new bridge did nothing at all to improve traffic...plus the money that was wasted to remove the whole bridge even although many residents wanted at least the west end left to fish off of....so they compromised by letting us have a catwalk under the new Barber Bridge that doesn't even get close enough to the channel where the big grouper are.

  • Dear ds.,

    Get yourself a boat man!

    .

    Go where you like, then.

    Cheers.

    from,

    del-boy.

  • Yes, but the end of Royal Palm Point is quite beautiful.

  • WOW!!! This reaaaally takes me back. I've lived in Vero most of my life. Things have definitely changed. I can remember riding over the bridge in my mom's care on the way to the beach and hearing that "bump-bump" of the tires. Thanks so much for posting!

  • Thank you, My husband and I met in 1995 and he moved here then as well. He never got to see the "old" bridge. It's changed so much here.
