Seeing this brought back so many memories taking that route to JC Beach as a youth. Give yourself a pat on the back for loading this one. many of todays kids only know of what we tell them was there.
I caught a black drum near the bridge station nazi guy. He would stop trafic for shits and giggles. I'm not kidding; this guy would stop the bridge for a canoe. It was crazy.
Just wondering, was your friend the guy that worked at beachland elementary? I have lived here my whole life, I remember that from probably the early 90's. I'm very sorry for your friend and you. RIP
hah, this is so cool. That bridge was gone before I was born. I wish i could have seen it, even though i have a weird phobia of bridges... =3 neato video. It's so weird seeing the bridge i've been on for so many years not even completed yet.
I remember fishing off of this bridge back when I was 15 years old with my father.....too bad the new bridge did nothing at all to improve traffic...plus the money that was wasted to remove the whole bridge even although many residents wanted at least the west end left to fish off of....so they compromised by letting us have a catwalk under the new Barber Bridge that doesn't even get close enough to the channel where the big grouper are.
WOW!!! This reaaaally takes me back. I've lived in Vero most of my life. Things have definitely changed. I can remember riding over the bridge in my mom's care on the way to the beach and hearing that "bump-bump" of the tires. Thanks so much for posting!

I also recall the bumps of the bridge and trying to keep my motorcycle from not sliding on the metal grating.

Thank you, My husband and I met in 1995 and he moved here then as well. He never got to see the "old" bridge. It's changed so much here.
