This song, Canaan Hymns #5 "O Lord, I Praise You", is also on a DVD I own called, "The Cross--Jesus in China", put out by the China Soul for Christ Foundation. One evening, I was watching a documentary on PBS about China--I've always had a great love for Asian people, Chinese people in particular--and on part of the documentary, I saw a house church being bulldozed to the ground as its members had to watch.

The documentary went on to explain that the Chinese government sees the house church activities as being counter revolutionary and it said that the house churches and the people in them were bad. I was very saddened by this because I know this is not the case. I was so disturbed by what I'd seen and heard that I told my church about it and told them I'd always had a great love for Asian people, especially the Chinese. That evening, my pastor gave me a DVD. It was the one I mentioned above.

It has been a great blessing to me because it introduced me to the likes of great Christian leaders who have suffered much for the Name of Christ and who are still as faithful and joyful as they ever were, people like Allan Yuan, Samuel Lamb, Epaphrus and Moses Xie. I love these people dearly. Throughout the DVD, this song is also played along with some of the other Canaan Hymns, and an English translation is provided.

The English translation of this song brought much joy to my heart, especially the part that begins with "who could not..." I thank God for a woman like Xiao Min, whose readiness and willingness to serve the Lord has blessed so many people!
