It's common knowledge that Welles was an outcast in Hollywood because he wouldn't play along with the few people in charge in back then (it's since broken up but back then it was VERY political). The fact that Citizen Kane (which always seems to be #1 in "Greatest Movies of All Time" lists) never got an Academy Award for best picture is pretty much a black mark on the Academy's history... and proves how insignificatant THAT barometer is to measure quality.

They also rank/regard Brando as a Superior actor to Welles. But if that isn't enough, read what the three most Revered Shakespearean actors(Lawrence Olivier, John Gielgud & Ralph Richardson) of the 20th Century stage said about Brando, and then compare it to what they said about Welles.
