I'm all about self defense in terms of war, you have to either have a mental disorder or be a total traitor not to be but I'm NOT for this world policeman stuff unless there is proof that a foreign countries actions directly threaten us in some way. Hell we have enough enemies right here at home, walk through a black neighborhood in NYC and you will be continuously racially harassed. Those blacks are just as much of an enemy as any Taliban or whatever that we are fighting.
Globalism is a trap. The free traders who support idiotic trade agreements like NAFTA and CAFTA and GATT are little more than corporate shills. I mean, they can't honestly expect me to believe that "free trade" with poor nations is really gonna help our economy out THAT much. It's all about helping Wall St. and its bottom line. It's always been about that.
Unfortunately, globalism only further confirms that the GOP of today is the party of the rich, not the party of working men and women.
At least Ron Paul has the decency to speak out against corporate abuses of our system. Ron Paul is a libertarian, mind you, but at least he's more of an individualist Republican rather than a Wall St. or K Street Republican like Rudy Giuliani or George Pataki or dozens of other men in the party. Paul wants to empower the individual, NOT help corporations just increase profits. Paul has even used the term "soft fascism" to describe massive gov't and market collaboration.
Thomas Friedman: libertarian free trade jackass with his head so far up his ass.
No, good sir, the world is NOT "flat." It's a lot more complicated than that. His book Lexus and the Olive Tree is a disgusting portrayal of his "dream" for free trade to supposedly create a sort of democratic global utopia on Earth, with everyone being able to afford basic necessities and housing, no poor, no outsourcing, etc. The book is like something out of the Twilight Zone.
"If we just negotiate every poor nation to accept World Bank Structed Adjustment standards and mass privatization and allow us to insource into their country, they'll become first world nations in no time!" is Friedman's basic philosophy. Too bad he's living in a fantasy world. Right-wing free trade utopians, esp. the economists, are just as bad New Left utopian socialists.
Remember how Phil Donahue's show got cancelled, and he was fired just because he spoke out against the war? I can't believe the so-called liberal media, which you would think would be pissed off enough to investigate the claims about iraq's wmds, could give bush such a blank check to go to war!
Neoconservatism is ruining the "republican" party, to the point where its hard to tell in what way the term "conservative" is even applicable to Republicans anymore.
So what happened to the corporate pressure on the media to promote Bush and the war? The media can't stop criticizing the war to the point where everyone had heard it all years ago.
Even a biased media in a reasonably free state will eventually end up telling the truth.
Especially when the big coroporations thought the war would be won quickly and profits would just flow in from oil revenue - and then all that failed to materialize, leaving the nation in huge debt and the dollar as flaccid as an old banana.
War, besides being evil, is a much bigger economic risk than Americans think.
I've watched some of your videos, Susie, and I have to admit that jews do seem to be overrepresented in mass media. Are you suggesting that these powerful jews use their positions to influence the public opinion, policies, and culture of the U.S. to their own, and Israel's, advantage? If this is what you're implying, doesn't it make you a "naziwhowantstokillsixmillionjews"?
After all, everybody knows that criticizing a jew is only the first step to throwing him into an oven.
Archbishop Charles Chaput -- "We make a very serious mistake if we rely on media like the New York Times, Newsweek, CNN, or MSNBC for reliable news about religion. These news media simply don’t provide trustworthy information about religious faith — and sometimes they can’t provide it, either because of limited resources or because of their own editorial prejudices.”
If you can't believe these sources about religion, can you believe anything else they print?
Neo-cons are American Jews and their like minded Goi, who fled the American Deocratic party for the American Republican party because of Jimmy Carters sympathy towards the Palestinians....or something to that effect. Thanks for everything S.A.!!!
Neo-conservatism is like a bad cold, it goes dormant once every 8 years and when least expected it sticks its ugly head out. The problem now is that this cold has extra support and has no intention to go away for a long time unless the voters recoginze them and do something about it. Personally I've given up on voters. Whoever other than Dr. Paul becomes President; expect more borrowing more spending and more government. It is truly our darkest hour.
Great video on one of my favorite subjects. You forgot to point out there is no law or regulation demanding the media to be fair and balanced. Also think of the handful of people who own the media; their background, affiliations and ideologies.
Yes I notice how much the media is against the war. I'm Kiddin not really. Have you watched the news lately? Now we have White terrorists! haha... acually the white terrorist they're speaking of I think was in another video regarding Osama.
There is no way our Government/Corporations are going to come back under control until our Media comes back to their job which is to protect the American people...
The fact we are losing our jobs by the millions, our wages have declined, inflation as run crazy, our gas has increase 400% in 8 years and Bush is still in the White House and we are still not all mad as hell tells me the media is in a propaganda/diversion mentality.
Pat Buchanan is great on Trade, Immigration, and Nationalism...he is identical on those issues to Alexander Hamilton, Henry Clay, and Abraham Lincoln.
I feel you are mistaken here in thinking that the reporters or the journalists are the main filters of information. It is like saying that the workers on the factory floor determine what type of car gets made. I think the control of the media and its obedience to state-corporate centres of power is far more institutional than a personal conspiracy on the part of media personalities.
I feel you get it absolutely right and absolutely wrong.
Were the media not obedient to state-corporate power in the Vietnam era, the Carter provoking which led to the '79 Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, the Reagan invasions of Lebanon and Grenada, Reagan's proxy war against the legitimate government of Nicaragua, his support for fundamentalist barbarians (later al-Qaeda) in Afghanistan, Bush's invasion of the Gulf and Clinton's sanctions on Iraq and his action in Kosovo?
"Keep feeling the need for being first. But I want you to be the first in love. I want you to be the first in moral excellence. I want you to be the first in generosity."
and "When people get caught up with that which is right and they are willing to sacrifice for it, there is no stopping point short of victory." --MLK, Jr.
