omg life can be extremely hard when your born into a shanty town in ireland :( but we survived ;) and can help to put a united ireland in place :) soo never again can 1side totally dominate the other ;) even gypsys deserve an education and a life :)
Seven years ago now, but even in '04 it was just amazing to see Desmond Dekker still giving such a first class performance after over thirty years as the #1 star of ska!
ofc no more will the irish live in shanty towns ;) we are getting equal rights in the north ... the prod / british dominance is over ;) we like south africa will be free .... ;)ofc sorry about the political views ... but there we go ;)

Jools Holland maybe is one of the best musician of Britain and I know music is subjective but he has to stay away from jamaican music 'cause this version is absolutely horrible. So Jools please learn the basics of ska, rocksteady & reggae and then invite these jamaican legends.Good luck!
@Skanksteady a lot of musicians think reggae is easy to play when it's not.
Yes this should be much better and there are plenty of reggae musicians in London that would have done a much better job at the time including DD own band at the time with Leroy Green on drums
those fucking puppets in the audience aren't even excited. Ok, while I was typing this, I actually saw 2 or 3 girls that were... but still... those clowns at the beginning had that "So... this is like... Bob Marley, right?!" look on thier faces.

@JAMZZO - he's a pioneer, you are RIGHT ! ! My 500 playlists will show you the music of the world & I just started a playlist for Desmond & added this to my 1967 list. Over 10,000 songs on 500 playlists for 300 artists, every year since 1900 & more. A musical journey across the globe & back through time. Come play a list and enjoy the ride for up to 4 hours each!
This is the 10 time i watch this live version in 2 days.. It is soo good.. We miss your smile, and you will never be forgotten, you are a true legend Mr. Desmon Dekker and your music lives on.
Are you really sure this is from the Kurhaus? This was recorded as part of Jools Holland's New Year's Eve Hootenanny (even says so in the back). Most likely in the same BBC studio where he records all his 'Later....' episodes, if you ask me.
I used to work in this pub in South London....not saying which one and had the pleasure of serving Mr Dekker on quite a few occasions; great guy... RIP Desmond!!!!
