@theProudMoslim as per UN survey during this 9 months war on an avg. in every minute around 7-12 people being killed by Pak military, u can read Archer K. Blood & other US officials of BD'71 who were officially part of allies of Pakistan or Anthony Masacarenhas or even Hamudur Rahman commission report of Pakistan. U can check a news paper of Islamist party in East Pakistan named ''Sangram' and see what they told then. Islam says 'even killing an innocent,as if killing the entire humanity.
@theProudMoslim Democracy is in Islam but in a different form, like something in Switzerland now, Direct Democracy. You can look for 3 members history in kholafaye rashidin election after Hazrat Abu Bakr(R).Its called 'Baiyat'.Let me know if I am wrong.
Some people alwayz try to diminish the honor of either Bangabandhu or Shahid zia, but its time we have to clarify ours position. Both of them including all sector commanders, freedom fighters, political workers of 71 war should be respected.
If anything, Socialism slowed India's inevitable progress and set it back by at least 3 decades... a good example is the communist rule in West bengal for the past 37 years... It went from one of the most developed states in India to being a below average state in economic crisis... And this was a Communist government known for its pro-socialist policies.
1. China developed because they implemented a well designed Special-Economic-Zone policy. They never let any company to establish themselves in China; instead, they make them collaborate with local industries as partners.
2. India's development is a unique case. There were huge Indian business tycoons in India from before independence and even outside India (Wipro, SUN, Mittal Steels, etc). Competing with international corporations was never an issue in India.
Show me one country where Socialism successfully empowered its people socially and economically? Socialist governments are as corrupt as any other form of government; and it does not encourage economic progress either. India was a Socialist country for over 4 decades and saw little change in people's lives. I don't see why you would want Communism or Socialism when recent human history clearly shows how flawed and unsustainable they are.
r you ok? you saying that you hate your own country father.even if you do BNP never disrespect bangabandhu.no one can take his place.he is the greatest banglai to ever lived.if you had any common sense then u wouldnt say that you hate him.
A man who loved his country unlike the greedy bastards who are running the country today and those who did since 1990's.
For Bangladesh democracy is not the best form of Government since most people are illiterate and jus take a side. In fact democracy in BD is being used as a tool for the corrupts.
@krazyfua Thank you for your comment. I agree with everything you said about Zia. I however disagree with your comment about socialism. Keep in mind that Ziaur Rahman himself promoted a mixed market economy and opened up the political system and media. He developed closer relations with the the Arab world, US, Western Europe without damaging the relationship with India. Like him, I believe in Bangladeshi Nationalism.

U should1st see my profile then say to me your point, the guys like Mujeeb and Zia urrahman,R for U heros & freedom fighters, but for me rebels .....this is the two different faces of the history , for me No one who was involved in 71 (even if he was from east or west) should be respected bcs they divided moslims ...
&in Islam we have Shura system, which U can say about it (Islamic democracy ) but the democracy of today is not in Islam,
@theProudMoslim Ur version can be different as u'r from a different perspective. But you know those people u r talking about who divide the country in your opinion, they gave Islam a bad name by helping killing 3 Million and raping more than 0.2 Million.I can show you their newspaper where they told ''Raping Bengali women is permissible'' by Jammat e Islam, Nezame Islam & Muslim league. This people betrayed both countries & Islam.I respect Chechen people, Imam Shamil, Alzerian freedom fighters.

@eskat550 but dear, the Islamist say that the Islamic groups like Al-bader & Al-shams were formed later before fall of Dhaka 3months,& they werent trained in good way & also had no strong weapons & were just few thousand ppl & were Bangalis,& in same time Pak army there was just45000& just 20000of them were in cities(and had no strong weapons)even no any bombing by aircrafts were,& were fighting India from out side & mukti bahni (who were 200000+) from entier side,
It is Zia's voice...period! I have had known him personally...and there should be no further doubt about it...u can even read the lips...and match the words!
if you look at 0:08 to 0:24, the voice does not match the lip-sync. as for Major Zia's actual voice, I myself can't be too sure. most if not all of the recordings on youtube are grainy & somewhat unclear, which does his memory no proper justice. then again, this recording itself may have been recorded earlier on & pasted on somewhat sloppily. i meant no offense when i asked the authenticity of this recording...
Unsynchronous audio and video are common problems with any aged clips that has not been preserved properly. Just take a look at all the clips on 71 that are being played in TV this month and you'll see. :) I can assure you that your hesitation is unnecessary. If you listen to any voice clips of Ziaur Rahman - you'll recognize his voice here.
Khaled Mosharrof was not only a gallant fighter but also a very impressive leader.May be he has faced a tragedy but it must not be used to deglorify him. I would like to request everybody to read more on him before making any comments.
His deliberation was really good. Is there any video clip of other Sector Commanders of Liberation War? These days we hear many of them talking in TV but not very ipressive way they talk. Zia was a smart guy.
I was never a supporter of military action in bangladesh as power corrupts too often too easily, however zia did a better job than most. And I do agree, the major crisis is LEADERSHIP n yes, its hard to come by and even harder to keep in Bangladesh.
What he was and what his sons are? More so is there anyone from Zia's family (except wife and sons)to be a beneficiary of his poularity? May he be from military backgroud, but a real patriot and honest throughout. If there could be one or two Mujib and Zia in Bangladesh now... The ultimate crisis is leadership..
I had to delete two comments, one against Zia and one defending Zia against that comment because of certain baseless accusations made. As always, we take one part of history and make it into the political bickering betwen BNP and AL.

I agree. Democracy for Bangladesh is a Farce so that the criminal mafia of the country can rule and rape the country legally.
BNP/BAL/JP/Jamaati, all criminals. NEW RAJAKAARs.
Bangladesh people need to mobilze to eliminate NEW RAJAKAAR like they eliminated many old rajakaars.

All democracies feel terrible at start... it will slowly improve with time as more people get educated...
It took India almost 40 years to get it's democracy in the right direction and we still have so many issues to improve on...
Bangladesh can and will develop. You people are so talented and tolerant.
