My brother has a great story with a liquid nitrogen demo at school. The teacher confiscated a rubber ball, froze it, but apparently only the outside was frozen, the inside was still soft rubber, so instead of shattering, it bounced around the room like a normal rubber ball, but nearly gave several students concussions, and the hard outside made it sound like a bouncing brick.
I think I was scare about to taste mashmallow of chemical, I don't do this at home! Because I'll never heard of it!!!

Bouncing requires the outside of the ball to be rubbery, the middle doesn't matter a great deal.
So the story is a lie.
