  • This movie is on YouTube in 10 minute pieces. I wasn't expecting it to be an epic, but damn, did it have to be diamond encrusted ape shit? The only good parts are when she talks with a masculine voice and when she makes out with that kid. Other than that, pure HOGWASH!

  • This popped on TV in the middle of Disney one night and scarred me for life.

  • @oldrocker74

No I think I got the picture, LOL

But when "Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark" premiered in 73' or 74' and I watched THAT, my mom used to do the old "what did you watch on TV tonight bit", and then some:

She pulled a hood over her head and stood out in the hallway, swaying back and forth going, "Shawn, Shawn, they want you!"

And she wondered why I nailed her with my pillow when I caught her (and I got my ass beat to boot) That was yesterday, though, today is today.

  • lol is that kargyraa?

  • 0:14

    holy shit

  • So much better than "The Exorcist."

  • It just seemed like horror movie previews back then were so dramatic, and absolutely serious, wow, lol.

  • This is so funny, I saw a picture of a dude standing in a dark room with the door half open, and memories of this trailer came flooding back. I am glad to know I was not the only one who was mentally scared by this stupid flick. Of course in 1974 I would have been 3 years old.

  • OMG!!! I wanna see this movie.

  • I'm still freaked out by this and Im damn near 40 years old. I remember when they showed the commercial for this, would run in the other room and try to close my ears, LOL.

  • @filmchickie I'm 46 and this film still scares me to the core. I watched it a few weeks ago and as predicted, my light bill was slightly higher this month, lol

It's one of these movies that you can't turn away from, (out of some morbid fascination) and sometimes, facing the things that scare you make you stronger, or in this case, bring back the old memories.

There was something truly evil about this film. No problem with creating the feeling.

  • when i heard this commerial for the 1st time at age 9 i broke the record for the fastest getting under the bed (2/10 of a second) and that record still holds.( LOL)

  • @blacqwolff I was 8 yo when this movie came out and all my older brothers had to say was "who are you" and I was sleeping at my parents feet. Then lo behold our parents took us to see it, hard to believe I'd feel nostalgic about being traumatized.

  • @geeter68 It was a bit worse for me..I had to sleep with lights on. And I had a mom who would rub it in every time I got scared. She would be like " well what did you watch on TV tonight, hmmm?" It was like the old "I told you so" treatment to the Nth degree.

As many times as I have posted about this movie, one thing that hits me is the true, unrelenting feeling of PURE EVIL this movie emanates. No film I've seen since can come this close, not even to today.

  • @Shawnster65 Fortunate fur you that she left it at that. Imagine you coming home one day, the house is quiet and she's no where around until you open the door to her bedroom...

    ...need I go on????

  • when i saw this trailer at age 9 i jumped under the bed without touching the floor. this trailer scared the holy shit out of me!

  • Yup - this commercial absolutely traumatized me when I was four. And my sister took full advantage! All she had to do was begin say, "Beyond the..." and I would absolutely lose it! Very therapeutic to see it now, actually. Thanks for posting! ;-)

  • Yeah legallyblonde. I actually bought the movie on ebay a few years ago, and man is it a lump of crap. Silly and goofy, but as a little kid, it did some serious damage to my nerves also. Gotta admit, the commercial still gives me goosebumps.

  • This is a really crappy movie. I never had the honor of seeing this trailer. They did take the creepiest parts for this commercial. Im sure it gave kids terrible nightmares. Sh1t back in the late 60s my girl cousin showed me a ad for the movie Wait Until Dark in the newspaper. I screamed and hid under the coffee table. Thanks to her i had horrid nightmares for at least the next 10 years.

  • Count me in as one of the many who were scared by this TV spot as a kid!!

  • Whoo are you? Who Who who who?

  • Damn..I remember this as a kid..after we saw this commercial we all ran around saying Whooo are you!!LOL

  • @butterp7 all of us kids did as well...lol...well mainly my brother did it to us lol....what a mean little boy he was lol

  • Yeah they'd hit you with this commercial out of the blue. I was 9 then and I got freaked out bigtime. I drove my mom nuts! I was in her bed at night for 6 months after this commercial!

  • @Tampaslice Buahahaha!! I hear you!

The trailers for It's Alive (1974) and The Exorcist (1973) are the ones that scared the DAYLIGHTS out of me as a youngin'!

  • Holy crap slammintone! The first time I saw this commercial I was watching the Night Stalker also. Anyway, that commercial absolutely scared and scarred me for years afterwards. It honestly destroyed the summer of 74 for me. I was absolutley petrified from it, and I was always terrified it would come on when I was watching tv. Didn't help that there were so many movies back then that focused on the devil and I just happened to go to Catholic school, so I totally bought into that crap.

  • @vitus33 Yeah me too! Kolchak the Night Stalker. I remember it was on late night CBS when I was a kid.

  • @vitus33 wonder why they did that..they just slammed it on you for no reason...it was crazy!!! Maybey because it was so new or something, but man...the movies back then were scary as hell!!!!! I am a very nervous person, I'm 42 and I seriously thinks it's because of all those damn scary movie commercials!!!

  • @vitus33

    That is toooooooooo funny!!!!!!!!

  • @vitus33 Same here!! This shit come out of nowhere when you were watching late nite tv...lol. It terrified me, too. The hilarious part is that the preview was the only scary thing about this movie..lmao..

  • This commercial scared the piss outta me back in the early 70s. Couldn't slap my hands to me ears fast enough, couldn't sleep. I remember watching Kolchak the Night Stalker and then there'd be this freaking commercial and then I had to walk home from a relatives house across the street alone. Don't think my feet ever touched the ground really!

  • "Slammintone" I hear you man! Always caught the "Who" in Who are you. Couldn't get my hands over my eyes and in my ears fast enough. This commercial is our generations "scary maze"!

  • @Tampaslice It popped up without fair warning didn't it! You'd be watching something and all of a sudden this broad was going "Whoooooooaaaaaarrrrrrryyyyyoooouuuuuuu?"

  • @meddetect10 OMG I hated that sound , sooooo bad . I would always think....oh my god...there it is again..how many times did they run that trailer before the movie actually came out!!!!

  • i remember watching wrestling on saturday night, on my little black and white TV. Then this shit would come on............OY..........

  • Oh shit!!!! This is the one. My mother worked at a movie theater when I was a kid & I remember going to the movies when this freakin trailer came on. I was scared shitless. For the life of me, I couldn't remember the name of the movie, but I remember the images from the trailer. And I remembered the word "Door".

  • My 10 yr old is freaking out lol

  • Holy shit a horror movie that finally looks interesting. I need to rent it...

  • @monsterviolence it was great when we were , 6...7...8...not so great now lol...but, the scary parts are still just as scary... i rented it a few years ago...boring as hell. Why did I think the entire movie, was nothing but her head turning around to stare that narly stare at her children..or her levitating thru rooms lol....i found out a few years ago...there was alot more that went on lol

  • HaHa.....this movie scared the crap out of me when I was a kid......LMAO!

I couldn't even get in bed.....I jumped from about 5 feet away to avoid the monster from under the bed grabbing my feet....LOL LOL!!!

  • That movie trailer scared the shit out of me when i was a kid...now that i look at it,it does look like the exorcist

  • I saw this film when I was a kid also, it scared me. I have me Juliet Mills and she much enjoyed making Beyond The Door. This film is different from the Exorcist.

  • scary shit when you are seven and about to go to bed in the 70's. hahaha. I finally saw it again tonight 33 years later. I think I'm over it. hahaha

  • @kpfgso2 I still can't stand that Whooooooarrrrryyyyyoooouuu?????" It still creeps me out and I'm nearly 50!

  • I never saw the trailer when i was a kid but i do remember the radio spots. And the ugly dude in the poster still scares me to this day.

  • Juliet Mills is the ugly dude in the poster. It appears to be an "artist's rendering."

  • That rendition still scares the hell out of me.

  • Me, too.

  • Comment removed

  • I dont care if this has a similarity to The Exorcist. THIS MOVIE BACK IN THE DAY was really SCARY. If you can get your hands on a copy of it check out the doll scene with the little kids.

  • I was a little kid in Le mars Iowa. My sister who was 2 years younger than me were scared shitless. I can still to this day go to her WHOOOO ARRRRE YOUUUU!! And she hates it!!

  • absolutly wrong tangsheen!!!! the exorcist came out in 72 or 73 ! beyond the door came out in 75 in the united states. check your facts again

  • You sir are wrong; "Chi sei?" or as the Amerikkkan's call it "Beyond The Door" was in indeed in production before "The Exorcist" was even in the first stages of development; just because the latter was released theatrically before the former could land a distributor doesn't mean its a rip off; check your facts again kid.

  • the exorcist is based on a novel published in 1971, preproduction on the film began in 1972 it was released in christmas of 73. chi sei as its called in the formerly facist country of italy(ameriKKKans indeed), obviously began as a ripoff of rosemarys baby. movies often change direction in the coarse of production. in the wake of the exorcist success elements were added ,(spinning head, green puke ect)in an effort to jump on the bandwagon. it is creepy but a turkey by comparison . ps im 42

  • this movie came out before the Exorcist the exorcist was indeed a rip off of this film before anybody starts screaming blasphemy check out imdb films

  • they used to show this commercial everyday, even during afternoon cartoons back in the 70's i used to turn the channel everytime there was a commercial. to avoid it! but once i turned it right on her ugly face!! & then changed it back and it was on that channel too !

  • wow !!!!!

  • I remember as a kid this commercial came on during one of our Christmas shows. Scared the living hell of of me. Still very creepy today

  • I remember when this trailer was first aired on tv. It scared the hell out of everyone so much to the point it was banned from airing any further. Does anyone remember this?

  • I remember it all too well...I was covered in head to toe poison ivy, back then they just used home remedies, so my mother bathed me in diluted bleach water, lol..covered me in calamine lotion and I had to sleep in the living room by myself on certain sheets, great mom!! Love ya!! One night couldn't sleep from the itching and what do I see on the tv? It was really late, and I was like 8 I think? OMG...Scared the hell out of me.Ran into the wood burning stove lol..bad night

  • Couldn't make it to the tv to turn the sound down, was too scared to touch the tv lol...OMG..finally made it into the kitchen by then , it was over lol..but I went into my siblings room and slept, can't remember if I gave anyone the poison ivy or not lol..but hey, what'a an 8 year old to do when this comes on, and why was I left alone? lol..will have to ask mom that

  • Also, does anyone remember The Screaming Woman? can only find the first part of that on here, and When Michael Calls? That was some scary shit back then..I can't find any of When Michael Calls on here, Oh and another terror of my childhood was Burnt Offerings..anyone remember that man in the black sunglasses , driving that car? lol...OMG...scary scary stuff...could be the reason for my fears and insecurities today lol

  • I had a crazy babysitter that took me to the drive-in to see the Exorcist when i was about 5 years old. I remember being terrified by this trailer afterwards. Another trailer that scared me was 'Magic' with Anthony Hopkins.

  • @proggoth Babysitter huh? Jesus. What the hell did she do to be MEAN?

    ?

  • @legallyblonde39 I just buried my head into the sofa and covered my ears as hard as I could. You'd think the damn house was being air-raided as fast as I moved!

  • @legallyblonde39 God it added insult to injury didn't it? You poor thing!

  • @baros62 I remember it well-it came on only late at night when I was a teenager and used to like late movies during the summer-but this damn thing would come on and scare me half to death. There was never a fair warning!

  • ooo shits
