If you believe that white racism isn't a problem in America, you're deluding yourself. I'm a white person who acknowledges my priviledge and tries my best not to be a jackass about race, and part of that is admitting that white privilege exists. Even my most liberal, "hip" white friends, who'll tell you off for saying slurs against gay or mentally disabled people (as they should) still say incredibly racist things while insisting that they're not really racist. If it's a problem at the
high school level, that alone is proof that racism is still alive and kicking in America, and that is a problem that needs to be acknowledged. It doesn't mean that their aren't other problems, and if you're black you're more able to speak on the problems in the black community than I am, so I don't disagree with that part of your comment; I'm in no place to do so (although I'd argue that several of the items you listed are problems in the white community too- white kids listen to
sexist, materialistic music, have pressure to be non-intellectual (I'm not saying it's as bad as the pressure that black people face, it's not, but all kids feel pressure to not be nerdy (and in my group of friends, it's complicated by a pressure TO be nerdy, but that's another story)) and yes, white kids can have shitty, shitty parents (shocking, I know). I'm sorry if this is coming off as whitesplaining (I have no idea if you're black or not) but saying that white racism is not only
not a problem but a "red herring" is completely untrue.
I don't mean to be rude or undermine your point, or act like I'm some expert on racism. I'm not, all I can do is speak from my experience as a white teenage girl, an experience which has personally lead me to the conclusion that white racism is definitely a problem.
The reason Barry got elected was because of S T U P I D people (Sheep) like you guys. LOL,LOL,LOL,LOL,LOL,LOL White privilage = you get out of the Basket what you put in it. Your so Freakin Crazy to assume "We the People of Today are responsible for what happened back in the days of Slavery....................You and yours are so very sad. Thanks for the oportunity LOL,LOL,LOL,LOL,LOL
Everyone in this country has equal opportunity. The problem is that many black people segregate themselves, and put themselves in a world that's different than the one every other American lives in (of all races). Because of this self-segregation, they carry the same mindset as African Americans in per se, the South in the 1960's. Thinking you need BET, JET magazine, Black Women's magazine, The Black music awards, etc...is built from fear and paranoia that is this theory called white privilege.
This show is awesome i like the Intellect and charismatic way they show and give views and opinions about the issues that effect humanity today. It would however be more effective if they wouldn't live in the problem as much and live more in the solution!
Well here's my view on white privelage there is wp in this society but it mainly goes around social economics if you are poor and white you have no privelage. There's no shining light for us. It works the same for black ppl. Now we do have better chance but its tough when your on street no matter who you are.
@ymp5000 Maybe if you had made the attempt to do something good with your life, you wouldn't be so bitter towards people who are not to blame. Grow up and get a life (which you obviously don't have if you wrote that damn much on a video made years ago.)
@rainxinxblack21 Need I point out that you have also commented on this video made years ago? “I am 38 now and have built a decent life for myself in spite of it all. I have a wife and two children, I own a 2750sq/ft home”. I have done good things with my life. As a matter of fact I love my life. Now go back to commenting on music videos and leave politics to tha adults.
@TitianX I don’t give a shit how old the video is as the concept of “white privilege” is new to me and I have not cried in 25 years. Now go back to watching old In Living Color videos.
My dad split when I was 9. A couple of decades ago I got popped on a ¼ gram of speed and got 10 years felony probation $5200 in fines and 320hrs community service and that was the end of my recreational drug use. I am 38 now and have built a decent life for myself in spite of it all. I have a wife and two children, I own a 2750sq/ft home, and 2005 Dodge Neon and a 1993 Jeep Cherokee.
I don’t get to call in 3 or 4 days a month or come in 10 minutes late every day, never have. My ass gets fired for doing shit like that but the black employees never got fired. I didn’t get it for my fist two years in the labor pool. A former boss told me “you’re white kid, people are always going to expect better from you, don’t act like them. If I fire one of them for this shit I might get sued, if I fire you no one will care and then I can find someone with the drive to succeed in life.”
You want to know what live a “white privilege” life is like? I wake up at 4:00am to get to work by 6:00am and work 10 hours minimum mon-sat and then I drive home. I own a 1987 bowrider boat that I bought used for $600 and we take it out on the weekends when its warm. I was 14 when I got my first job at McDonalds and I have been working ever since. I have lost three construction jobs to the onslaught illegal immigrants. Drove the prices down so a man couldn’t make a decent living.
For a group of people that fought so hard to end racial segregation, black people sure do spend alot of time segregating themselves with all the "black only" organizations and groups. Black people are some of the racist people I know. Id estimate 80% of my interactions with black people ended unfavorably . Am I racist for speaking my views? ps.... white privilege is something we earned
I am so and proud to be white. I don't belong to an organization that allows me to hate another race. I will always accept responsiblitiy for my own actions. I will always keep a job...and will not waste my time blaming others for my pitfalls. Some of my good friends are black, red ,yellow and white. I will try lend a hand to those in need when I am able. Although I don't always expect a second chance. I will try harder to make the grade if I don't succeed the first time. I don't always agree.
i see someone mentioned madoff, and his crimes against the american people, he's jewish, you also must consider who ownes all (but one) of the media networks and who controls international banking, our federal reserve and has the most powerful lobby in american government which influences american foreign policy and domestic politics in general. they are 2% of the population and 48% of US billionaires, jews, tim wise is one of them . dont believe their lies.
ezekielthemac and his racist comments about white people that have gone completely unchallenged, further proves my point. hating or blaming whites, which is racism, is ok. me sticking up for whites could be considered racist, do you people see your hypocrisy? or are you completely and totally brainwashed?
@chicago economic status matters over race, in american society, 2/3rds of the nations poor is white 2/3rds of the population is white, that makes the poor to race ratio balanced. 2ndly gov. programs like aff. action ignore poor whites. where is the privilege? its bullshit propaganda to create friction between the races and your all falling for it, its safe and politically correct to resent whites.
I'm not sure awkward wedding guy was an example of white privilege; I think he was just racist, in an awkward way. White privilege is more a set of circumstances that advantages whites in general over minorities. It isn't anything white people necessarily CHOOSE to contribute to, but even the most progressive white person still benefits from it beyond his control. I think that's why so many white people are in denial about it; they can't see how they contributed so they think it's not real.
evry anglo merican here and all peepo who are NOT of color who want to be american shuuuud no, NEEDDSSS to watch tim wise...no reely. and then go from ther.
Hey video guy! A white guy at a weddding attempted a lame convo with you? That's the best example of white privilege in your life??? Black guys try to have lame "hey dude" convos with me too, I don't make a video and call that black privilege. Poor misguided soul. Quoting a Jewish Tim Wise? Why do you let your masters befriend you like that? The Chosen Race are the ones enslaving you, keeping you at the bottom, yet you whine about whitey cause some yuppies annoy you? lol grow up man
Well, Palin is semi-intelligent and has the money to raise a child. Most inner city minorities are fatherless, low IQd, poverty stricken, etc. You need to face some cold, brutal facts.
Oh and far as your life choices (hanging out with whites, your lame job), that's your decision!
let me get a thumbs up for every time you have visibly frightened a coworkers turning a corner, been mistaken for the janitorial staff, or been accused of sneaking into your building.
and let me get a thumbs down for every racist fool who would attribute that to other things (i guess i didn't work hard to deserve basic respect around the office) and refuses to struggle with issues of race!
Definitely been drunk with white friends and definitely been offended by random comments but it's always good to gain perspective on how peeps like that view the world.
I think that people on the left largely view privilege as who has the "stuff" in society while people on the right view it as whether or not you can succeed if you have enough merit.

People are not simply members of groups, people are individuals. An individual is not inherently disadvantaged just because they belong to a particular group. As soon as we stop seeing people as belonging to groups I believe we'll over come these issues. Unfortunately this wide spread collectivist belief continues to be the dominant belief.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
The last part about Palin's daughter is true, but the fact of the matter is is that 26% of white children are born out of wedlock versus 70% of black children. So there is no commonality of white children to be born this way, so it is not considered a normality is considered only taboo.
its true every family does have challenges, im white and i work at a grocery store, lived in the inner-city my whole life, dropped out of high school, but you will never hear me blaming anyone else for the hard life i had or resort to committing crimes to make ends meet . im sick of people and the media trying to make me feel guilty for being white. take responsibility for your own actions. take responsibility for your own community.
@irishpolish80 No one is trying to make you feel guilty for being white. Guilt is an internal concept. There is no reason for you to feel guilty. But here's the thing you living a hard, inner city life does not equate you with black. Being poor does not determine "blackness", if so what would that make middle and upper middle class blacks non black? Most of you do not even understand white privilege, because its not like its something you ask for its inherent in American society.
one question: why is it that if a black person yells "fag" or "dyke" at us and threatens us, and we make the mistake (b/c I don't condone this) of yelling back the n word-we're bigots, but they are NOT? so before you throw stones, look at your OWN behavior.
if someone is yelling stupid ignorant things at you, why the hell would you stoop to their level and yell blatant ignorant remarks back? that's like...asking for an ass whoopin....and even if that person says something bigoted to you, how are you not a bigot if you yell a a bigoted remark back at them? regardless of the situation you're still a bigot if you use that word like that
we are lower on the social status than you, no matter what color we are, and it's not racist to say so (and for the record I'm not white). and it says a lot about a group by how they treat those LOWER than them. so yes, white privilegesucks and I hope it goes away. but maybe some of you should stop shoving hetero privilegeon us, cause let's face it, you'll get more rights and standing LONG before we will.
look at what happened with prop 8. look at all the hate against us coming from black churches (not to say it's not from others too). it's particularly hurtful when it comes from a minority that should know better after what they have been through. you're obviously doing better than we are if you feel like you can treat us the way many of you do. and how you treat your own gay people-the down low? geesh. it's awful.
@blueoceanbeach Ha being Black in America is completely fucking different then being gay in America. Don't try and compare your struggle to those that have been oppress for over 200 years in this pathetic country. Why should we know better don't tell us what we need to know. You act like every Black person in America is after because of your sexual orientation, news flash white people are the majority maybe you should whine them, their the ones keeping you from getting married. Not us!
I agree with this. however I also feel that if you're an oppressed minority and you oppress other minorities, then maybe you're being a real hypocrite. I'm gay, and I and many of my friends constantly get harrassed coming out of gay bars-usually by some black guy who thinks we should have the living s*** beat out of us. not to say other races aren't homophobic, but there's no denying that the black population is VERY vehemently against us, and there is much violence against us from them.
Little do these trolls on these videos know that their attempts to shout loudly that "NO, WHIT EPEOPLE ARE OPPRESSED! SHUT UP OR WE'LL KILL YOU" only goes to show that the criticisms that Wise raises rings all the more true. The fact that they aren't responding to the particular points he makes, only shows that they fricken have no other intention but dishonesty.

Yea your right white people dont have to wrk for anything. I cant believe the stupid shit people will believe. The scales are turning and whites have it tougher then anyone else in America.
Ever heard of affirmative action. I am just saying its harder on white men to get jobs and advancement or into college. Its a fact we have to work harder. PS very liberal of you to suggest i need to read more. Just BC someone disagrees with you does not mean they arent educated! Elitist?
If it was harder for White men to advance than it is for minorities, then why is the upper-class still predominately White? Why is the poor/working class made up of mostly minorities? Why are prisons filled with mostly Black men? White people had affirmative action in schools long before minorities, they're called Legacies. Lots of white kids in Ivy League schools only got in because mommy and daddy went there.
Legacies include about .00000009% of all whites. The rest of us are working shlubs like everyone else. I have never met a white legacy and probably never will. So because someone else got into harvard and was the same color as me instead of a black guy. Its simple you never can cure racism by institutionalizing racism against anyone. No matter what. Affirmative action is WRONG!
Also, if I thought you were uneducated I wouldn't assume that you'd be enlightened by reading more. What does seem apparent is that you're uninformed (based on the fallacies that you've posted. . . you're lacking facts.) I think you're uninformed, not uneducated. There's a difference.

yeah white privilege exists and holds black people down. good thing that the evil racist white people apparently confuse asians (also dark skinned ones as for example indians), middle eastern people and even hispanics with fellow white people. how else would you explain that for example the different groups of asians are that much more succesful than black people? and that even despite of what affirmative action (now that's racist) does for blacks?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
yeah why should non black americans be afraid of black americans. ridiculous. just cause a group that accounts for only 13 percent of the population accounts for about half of the people in prison. as if that would be a good reason. it's of course not. I mean most people murdered by black people are other black people and that doesnt make black people afraid of black people so why should non black people be afraid of black people. those silly non white people eh
My first reaction is to say "aaaaaahhhh are you fucking stupid" but im going to attempt to be respectful and put aside my initial response which is to be offended. Could it be possible that blacks experience violence from other blacks because due to segregation(social not legally mandated) blacks are surrounded by other blacks? Could it possibly be that blacks make up most of the prison population because they are profiled and because they are more likely to be convicted than whites?
ok so most of the blacks in prison are innocent.and blacks as a group dont commit more crimes as for example whites yeah? whites are for example just as violent but because of racism they get less often caught and convicted?the main cause of death among blacks of a certain age group is murder.and the murderers are black.you are saying whites/asians do the same.are no different. so main cause of death there is also crime?if yes then please tell me where are all the many shot dead young whites?
I did not say blacks who are in prison are innocent i am saying if i am looking for black criminals im going to find black criminals. The leading cause of death in the black community isnt crime its heart disease so i dont know where you get your info. If violence and crime are black problems either its because of society or genetics so point the the genes that cause blk violence and white/asian superiority or accept that this society is still racist in nature.
Man what a fool. I could go into the history of the social situation in America, but obviously you'd just disregard it so I'll just say this: do you think the system is really about justice? Wrong, it's about money.Typically white people can afford better representation than black people who go to jail, and they *want* ppl to go to jail. Jails get paid per head, it's a huge business, and who better to throw in jail than blacks. After all who cares right? For dead whites: see VTech+Columbine
I love the part about "make believe land." This is what a lot of people are doing when they discount the idea that white privilege exists. There have been many studies that show minorities get paid less money for doing the same job in virtually every industry. I don't blame people for not seeing it though. It's hard to see when it's not happening to you. It's kind of like how a lot of men don't see that some male privilege exists.
What John Stoseel said would be like saying, there's no more domestic abuse, rape, sexual harassment etc against women because if Hilary Clinton had become president. What Baracks becoming president shows is that people are far less racist than they used to be. It also shows that he was clearly the best man for the job. But to say that white privilege and racism no longer exist because of it is extremely short sighted and naive.
I'm watching cops, most depressing thing ever. How is drug possession a felony. I understand murder, but seriously, you're selling drugs and you are a felon. Then they get out of jail and continue to do the shit that they did to end up in jail.
I agree Matt. A person with a few grams of coke goes to jail but Benard Maddoff steals billions of dollars and he's still free on the streets of New York. What a criminal justice system we have.
It appears that you hold up this belief system not because it adequately describes what your talking about, but because you feel anomousity towards an entire race of people. Which is actually a pre-supposition of "superiority". I do not need you to break it down for me, I am well versed in Time Wise, Peggy McIntosh and their crew. The very act of calling this phenomenon "white" privilege is 'racist' in its simplest of forms, as it steers us all away from a true and comprehensive understanding.
The very real phenomenon called "white privilege" is complex, it's the result of Capitalism, Class, Economics, Prejudice, Bigotry, Culture etc. Associating the phenomenon with "whiteness" is inflammatory. "White people" are as diverse as any people, they do not as a whole live with "privilege" and should no more be marginalized than any "color" of person. This is yet another attempt to chalk up "people of color" on one side and "white people" on the other. Bad choice of words.
Firs,America chalked Black people on one side nad White people on the other, not this gentleman. It's like your blaming the messenger for bringing you bad news, well not bad news, just news you dont want to hear. It doesn't matter how diverse white people are or were, it doesn't change who represented the main opressors in this country. Maybe you and your family didn't participate directly, but WHITE is what your people called themselves, not us.
oK maybe this is hard for you, but work with me. The people who committed these atrocities against African's were "white people". But "white people" did not commit atrocities against the Africans. It might be hard, try to let it sink in.
"...who represented the main opressors in this country"
Guilt??? LOL so first, if your assuming I'm white, that would be a big mistake. Also, there is no such thing as "white guilt". These people have nothing to feel guilty about, brotha get a grip.

Even as diverse Europens are, the first thing most of them did when they came over here was change their status to white, not just in last name, but in classification. Mmmm, I wonder why? Most European immigrants asserted their whitness in reference to deserving jobs over black Americans, quoting things like," Were one of you, we're white too." White Priviledge isn't that complicated. It's White peoples asssumption of superiority regardless of actuality.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Example; There were Whites poorer than Blacks soon after slavery was abolished and thereafter. That didn't matter because it wasn't about class, money, occupation, culture, capitalism, etc. Blacks were still niggers to those poorer Whites. They still thought of themselves as superior humans no matter what the accomplishments and eduaction of Blacks and no matter the illiteracy of themselves. It's the supposition of superiority, simple.
Oh yea, Capitalism doesn't create priviledge in the sense that he's talking about. I think my previous posts define it for you. It may be a channel or outlet in which priviledge is acted upon. Saying capitalism created priveledge is like saying the money in my pocket spended itself and created my debt.
I read that article at the end, too, and I thought it was great, too. If anyone wants to read it, it's titled "This is Your Nation on White Privilege" and it's available at Red Room. Google it.
To folks to try to tell me there's no white privilege in the US, I ask them what you call a white person living in a hovel neglecting their kids and drinking cheap beer is called. After they say "white trash," I ask them what a black person living in a hovel neglecting their kids and drinking cheap beer is called.
I believe what malacastre means is that white trash is not considered the default for a white person, but if a black person engages in shitty behavior, they're pegged as just acting typical of their race.
By whom 'madammacphisto'? How is their being "pegged as acting typical" any indication of "white privilege"? These are opinions by individuals or groups of individuals, They do not represent "white people" or speak for the entire race. They certainly don't speak for the "white people" that I know, by and large and to suggest that this comparison is representative and ANYTHING amounts to nothing more than haterizm.
White privilege works on an institutional as well as individual level. Have you never noticed how black people are portrayed as criminals and bottom feeders in the media? That's just one example of how a race is misrepresented.
Lastly, pointing out white privilege is not "haterizm" - it's just the reality. If you're interested in getting informed, check out "Why are all the black kids sitting together in the cafeteria?" by Beverley Tatum.
Your experience of "white people" and their "representations" is substantially different from mine, and what I've done here is challenge you to recognize your own bigotry, your own prejudice and your own racism. Not sure how it is that you didn't notice, but it isn't just the "Black Kids" who sit as a group, people do not group by "race" alone. Try to learn something about Human Nature, then we might actually be able to have this conversation. Meanwhile Ima call it what is is: HATERIZM.
Yea, well I'm Black, surprise, and I don't think you're doing much to further the cause of African Americans. So thanks anyways "white girl" who believes in "white privilege", but I find this stuff offensive. I am well versed in Peggy McIntosh, Time Wise Beverly Tatum etc. Being African American doesn't mean I'm going to be enabled by well-intended but ultimately co-dependent bunch of crap. You should know better than to marginalize people by "race". Hee hee.
The simplistic statement "society favors white people over people of color" is so narrow and one-sided that it's impossible to take seriously. The use of the term "white" specifically targets many people who are least responsible for the phenomenon's existence. If you want to talk about how capitalism, prejudice, bigotry, trauma, economics etc have impacted on my people then we might have something to talk about. But this is another attempt to minimize the Humanity of an entire race of people.
Sounds like you're talking more about intersectionality (when various factors work together to oppress groups). This doesn't mean white (or male or heterosexual) privilege doesn't exist, and pointing this out doesn't dehumanize members of these groups who benefit from their privilege. It's just a fact. To believe otherwise, you'd have to be wilfully ignorant.
How self absorbed do you have to be to not see the implications of you're saying. Wow. To suggest that people's lives aren't damaged by those who entertain this way of thinking is "wilfully ignorant". Well there is none so blind as those who will not see.
Affirmative action is not a black privilege. It is a combative (although it shouldn't even have to exist) countermeasure to negative stereotypes that people aren't even aware of most of the time. Everyone has them. Even I. We all should make an effort to understand this issue.
Instead, many of Americans assume that black people are just whiners. But isn't that racism? If a large portion of white America complained about something, wouldn't it be considered an issue?
Dig. It's important to notice strides we have made, but saying that there's no longer any racism isn't true. Stereotypes are looser, but still there. Someone white recently told me a joke about how black men don't take care of their families, and everyone but me was okay with it. I'm proud of the way this country has been fixed, but the problem isn't erased. Just like white women can still expect to wait five more years to get that promotion than men, even though hillary got as far as she did.
Warren Farrell, who spent about 15 years going over U.S. Census statistics and research studies, said that the wage gap exists not because of sexism, but because more men are willing to do certain kinds of jobs. "average full-time working male works more than a full-time working female," Farrell said. Different job choices such as riskier jobs are also why men earn more. According to Farrells research women care more about flexibility, men care more about money. Try a little research first please
Um... did I say anything about wages? I said women can expect to wait years more to get a promotion than men. "Certain kinds of jobs" was nowhere in my comment. However, if you want some facts, here are some for you: women own 1% of the worlds wealth globally, and make 77 cents to every dollar men make for doing the same jobs. You are attempting to have a debate on something I wasn't even talking about. I'll research if you learn to read, thanks.

Black guy kills his white wife and friend, there is DNA evidence, head investigator is racist, goes free!
Your Lacrosse team has a party, stripper accuses you and your team of rape. Everyone automatically believes her, you're kicked off the team and your reputation is ruined. Later when they find out she lied, no one apologizes, you still don't get back on the team.
there are so many cases in which the "black" guy or the "black" woman are really innocent victims and they never get justice. i do not see your point. oj was a celebrity, celebrities are notorious for walking away from jail time, he is hardly a regular case. and the stripper who lied is just that, a liar. she does not represent every black woman who has ever reported a rape. i personally believe that if she had been white, the same exact thing would have happened to the duke lacrosse players.
THERE is a affirmative action for woman as well! Affirmative action does not say that some one HAS TO GET A JOB BECAUSE they are a woman or African American it just assures that a equal number of applicants can apply for the sam job, opposed to someone just interviewing only whites. It never states that one must get the job because of race or gender!

Yeah, there is white priviledge in America until:
You apply for college and Leroy gets admitted with a lower GPA.
Obama get nominated for President with no experience.
You apply for financial aid and Shequesha gets all her books paid for, classes and living expenses. She pulls off in her Beinz while you wait in line to cash your $100 financial aid check.
Applied for a job...affirmative action, denied. Your boss is black, never went to college and you have a Bachelor's degree.
white women benefit the most from affirmative action. your comment is just so full of ignorance that i am choosing to ignore everything else. (the "black" names were just taking it too far. stereotypes are stupid.)
Wow, just wow. I love the fact that the guy doesn't sit there and say boo-hoo black folks are being discriminated against, no, he literally changes the whole paradigm of the arguement into a pretty honest examination of race and even gender relations in this country.
Dude, thats absurd. No one is blaming anyone for anything. The fact is there IS white privilege and the fact that you think this is race baiting implies that it's so entrenched in your everyday life you can't even see it. Who said anything about not having a job? You can work in the middle of corporate America and recognize white privilege. Pay attention, the video said black people should take responsibility for themselves. Being responsible and being oblivious is 2 different things.
whenever people say racism doesn't exist i give them the elevator test: watch a black man walk onto an elevator and see if any of the women clutch their purse a little tighter.
out of all the races, blacks take the most shit. you can't deny that.

Problems plaguing the black community (in no particular order):
Children are taught to reject education.
Irresponsible parenting.
Widespread drug abuse.
Popular music culture which teaches materialism, and to degrade women and blacks as whole.
Ridiculous crime rates, including murder.
90% of children born out of wedlock.
Popular culture which glorifies violence and crime.
With so many problems, only a moron would still focus on the red herring which is "white racism".

Well here's my view on white privelage there is wp in this society but it mainly goes around social economics if you are poor and white you have no privelage. There's no shining light for us.

People are not simply members of groups, people are individuals. An individual is not inherently disadvantaged just because they belong to a particular group. As soon as we stop seeing people as belonging to groups I believe we'll over come these issues. Unfortunately this wide spread collectivist belief continues to be the dominant belief.

The last part about Palin's daughter is true, but the fact of the matter is is that 26% of white children are born out of wedlock versus 70% of black children. So there is no commonality of white children to be born this way, so it is not considered a normality is considered only taboo.

blueoceanbeach 2 years ago
@blueoceanbeach Ha being Black in America is completely fucking different then being gay in America. I agree with this. however I also feel that if you're an oppressed minority and you oppress other minorities, then maybe you're being a real hypocrite. ITHEREONETHATHASNT 2 years ago
GenineY 2 years ago 11
Legacies include about .00000009% of all whites. The rest of us are working shlubs like everyone else. I have never met a white legacy and probably never will. So because someone else got into harvard and was the same color as me instead of a black guy. Its simple you never can cure racism by institutionalizing racism against anyone. No matter what. Affirmative action is WRONG!

yeah white privilege exists and holds black people down. good thing that the evil racist white people apparently confuse asians (also dark skinned ones as for example indians), middle eastern people and even hispanics with fellow white people. how else would you explain that for example the different groups of asians are that much more succesful than black people? and that even despite of what affirmative action (now that's racist) does for blacks?

yeah why should non black americans be afraid of black americans. ridiculous. just cause a group that accounts for only 13 percent of the population accounts for about half of the people in prison. as if that would be a good reason. it's of course not. I mean most people murdered by black people are other black people and that doesnt make black people afraid of black people so why should non black people be afraid of black people. those silly non white people eh
NguyenThiKhiem 2 years ago
My first reaction is to say "aaaaaahhhh are you fucking stupid" but im going to attempt to be respectful and put aside my initial response which is to be offended. Could it be possible that blacks experience violence from other blacks because due to segregation(social not legally mandated) blacks are surrounded by other blacks? Could it possibly be that blacks make up most of the prison population because they are profiled and because they are more likely to be convicted than whites?
krissy4nik 2 years ago 3
ok so most of the blacks in prison are innocent.and blacks as a group dont commit more crimes as for example whites yeah? whites are for example just as violent but because of racism they get less often caught and convicted?the main cause of death among blacks of a certain age group is murder.and the murderers are black.you are saying whites/asians do the same.are no different. so main cause of death there is also crime?if yes then please tell me where are all the many shot dead young whites?
NguyenThiKhiem 2 years ago
I did not say blacks who are in prison are innocent i am saying if i am looking for black criminals im going to find black criminals. The leading cause of death in the black community isnt crime its heart disease so i dont know where you get your info. If violence and crime are black problems either its because of society or genetics so point the the genes that cause blk violence and white/asian superiority or accept that this society is still racist in nature.
krissy4nik 2 years ago
Man what a fool. I could go into the history of the social situation in America, but obviously you'd just disregard it so I'll just say this: do you think the system is really about justice? Wrong, it's about money.Typically white people can afford better representation than black people who go to jail, and they *want* ppl to go to jail. Jails get paid per head, it's a huge business, and who better to throw in jail than blacks. After all who cares right? For dead whites: see VTech+Columbine

StanleyT123 3 years ago 3
The very real phenomenon called "white privilege" is complex, it's the result of Capitalism, Class, Economics, Prejudice, Bigotry, Culture etc. Associating the phenomenon with "whiteness" is inflammatory. "White people" are as diverse as any people, they do not as a whole live with "privilege" and should no more be marginalized than any "color" of person. This is yet another attempt to chalk up "people of color" on one side and "white people" on the other. Bad choice of words.
StanleyT123 3 years ago 3
Firs,America chalked Black people on one side nad White people on the other, not this gentleman. It's like your blaming the messenger for bringing you bad news, well not bad news, just news you dont want to hear. It doesn't matter how diverse white people are or were, it doesn't change who represented the main opressors in this country. Maybe you and your family didn't participate directly, but WHITE is what your people called themselves, not us.
medit84truth 3 years ago
Oh so it IS about the "payback". Lets blame "white people" for the actions of these horrible men. Great thinking.

oK maybe this is hard for you, but work with me. The people who committed these atrocities against African's were "white people". But "white people" did not commit atrocities against the Africans. It might be hard, try to let it sink in.

It's White peoples asssumption of superiority regardless of actuality.
medit84truth 3 years ago

Example; There were Whites poorer than Blacks soon after slavery was abolished and thereafter. That didn't matter because it wasn't about class, money, occupation, culture, capitalism, etc. Blacks were still niggers to those poorer Whites. They still thought of themselves as superior humans no matter what the accomplishments and eduaction of Blacks and no matter the illiteracy of themselves. It's the supposition of superiority, simple.
medit84truth 3 years ago
Oh yea, Capitalism doesn't create priviledge in the sense that he's talking about. I think my previous posts define it for you. It may be a channel or outlet in which priviledge is acted upon. madammacphisto 3 years ago
StanleyT123 3 years ago 3
Defensive, are we?
White privilege works on an institutional as well as individual level. Have you never noticed how black people are portrayed as criminals and bottom feeders in the media? That's just one example of how a race is misrepresented.
Lastly, pointing out white privilege is not "haterizm" - it's just the reality. If you're interested in getting informed, check out "Why are all the black kids sitting together in the cafeteria?" by Beverley Tatum.
madammacphisto 3 years ago

Hee hee.
StanleyT123 3 years ago 2
I'm not marginalizing. I doubt Elon White is either, or the other people on this board.
So, you reject the notion that society favors white people over people of color?
madammacphisto 3 years ago
The simplistic statement "society favors white people over people of color" is so narrow and one-sided that it's impossible to take seriously. The use of the term "white" specifically targets many people who are least responsible for the phenomenon's existence. If you want to talk about how capitalism, prejudice, bigotry, trauma, economics etc have impacted on my people then we might have something to talk about. But this is another attempt to minimize the Humanity of an entire race of people.
StanleyT123 3 years ago 3
Sounds like you're talking more about intersectionality (when various factors work together to oppress groups). This doesn't mean white (or male or heterosexual) privilege doesn't exist, and pointing this out doesn't dehumanize members of these groups who benefit from their privilege. It's just a fact. To believe otherwise, you'd have to be wilfully ignorant.
madammacphisto 3 years ago

Hmmm, why would women care more about flexibility? Could it be because they're expected to work AND raise kids at the same time?

Black guy kills his white wife and friend, there is DNA evidence, head investigator is racist, goes free!
Your Lacrosse team has a party, stripper accuses you and your team of rape. Everyone automatically believes her, you're kicked off the team and your reputation is ruined. Later when they find out she lied, no one apologizes, you still don't get back on the team.
I am missing the priviledge here????
acharaastor 3 years ago
If they wanted to be, they would have been back on the team. The players were either seniors or transferred out.
Also, the DA got fired and, I believe disbarred, for pursuing the case so it isn't like there were no repercussions.
For every OJ there are a dozen Phil Spectors.

there are so many cases in which the "black" guy or the "black" woman are really innocent victims and they never get justice. i do not see your point. oj was a celebrity, celebrities are notorious for walking away from jail time, he is hardly a regular case. and the stripper who lied is just that, a liar. she does not represent every black woman who has ever reported a rape. i personally believe that if she had been white, the same exact thing would have happened to the duke lacrosse players.

My point: there maybe some priviledges to being white but there are a lot of priviledges to being black as well. Affirmative action is the big one.
acharaastor 3 years ago
THERE is a affirmative action for woman as well! Affirmative action does not say that some one HAS TO GET A JOB BECAUSE they are a woman or African American it just assures that a equal number of applicants can apply for the sam job, opposed to someone just interviewing only whites. It never states that one must get the job because of race or gender!

FUCK Affirmative action and everyone who Negative rep'ed the guy who spoke even slightly about it.
The most qualified person should always get the job no matter the race. This is why everywhere you go you encounter morons and ask...
How the fuck did you get where i am today?

Yeah, there is white priviledge in America until:
You apply for college and Leroy gets admitted with a lower GPA.
Obama get nominated for President with no experience.
You apply for financial aid and Shequesha gets all her books paid for, classes and living expenses. She pulls off in her Beinz while you wait in line to cash your $100 financial aid check.
Applied for a job...affirmative action, denied. Your boss is black, never went to college and you have a Bachelor's degree.
acharaastor 3 years ago
white women benefit the most from affirmative action. your comment is just so full of ignorance that i am choosing to ignore everything else.

Wow!
tlhwraith 3 years ago 3
Dude, thats absurd. No one is blaming anyone for anything. The fact is there IS white privilege and the fact that you think this is race baiting implies that it's so entrenched in your everyday life you can't even see it. Who said anything about not having a job? You can work in the middle of corporate America and recognize white privilege. Pay attention, the video said black people should take responsibility for themselves. Being responsible and being oblivious is 2 different things.

this is so spot on, man.
whenever people say racism doesn't exist i give them the elevator test: watch a black man walk onto an elevator and see if any of the women clutch their purse a little tighter.
