Though I will not entirely dismiss it, as we live in a universe with endless possibilites, I do not think personally that we've ever been visited by alien life.

I think the size of the universe is outside the perceptions of a human being. Its just too big. We haven't evolved in the presence or experience of anything with such a grand scale therefore our brains cannot correctly analyze such vast emptiness.

There are many theories about that. Some think that the universe is just growing all the time. Some think its infitive and some think that if you "look far enough" in that direction you will see the back of your head.

And remember, The universe started as an atom (very dense atom) so it is possible it isn't infinity.

@3Dinvent in regard to "jackp22", its basically the same as what Carl Sagan, Richard Dawkins, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, & others have said before--namely that humans had evolved to deal with mid-size scales on the order of a couple meters, yet we cannot properly comprehend scales on the cosmic or atomic levels. yes, our capacity for abstract conceptualization allows us to at least comprehend the existence of them, but the numbers & forces & time at these scales are a tad too small & large for us

Astronomy is a very humbling science. It puts things in perspective of the immense enormity of the universe. Like Carl Sagan qoted " there are as many stars in our sky as there are grains of sand on all the beaches"
