  • I've just finished reading Orwell's '1984' That's the 3rd time I've read it since the actual year.

Scary the first time, scarier still the second, and now it's just chilling in its parallels.

America's finished, and THAT is the scariest thing of all.

  • Dave here. Little Miss Pigtails probably sings a meaningful song, but we'll never know. There are singers and then there are "song stylists." Some "song stylists" are good at it, if they can be understood, if that's their point. "Pigtails" is not one of those. As the Russians would say, "Zhal'."

  • making excuses for Timothy McVeigh? that's weird. "without much to boast about"? what? he's kidding, right?

  • É uma molecada americana, formadas nessas escolas 100% dominadas pela mentalidade politicamente correta.

  • He acts like he was an ancient aristocratic bored sybaritic and decadent Roman senator.

  • Who is the horrible female singer/guitarist?

  • Waco massacre happend under Clinton administration. And Gore Vidal continues to back Hillary and blaming only Bush and the republicans!

  • Timothy McVeigh BRILLIANT kid?? Gore Vidal has no sense of right and wrong. He is profoundly amoral.

How do you fix the killing of innocent people? Killing a few more innocent people! Isn't it a great moral proposition?

    His argument is completely absurd.

Indeed he reminds me the Frankfurtians, like Adorno, Horkheimer and Marcuse, with their amoral corrosive and destructive thinking. They hated the Evil without loving the Good.

  • @MMDC2001 It wasn't a moral proposition. I don't remember him saying McVeigh was moral. He was only a bit more sympathetic.

Don't pretend you know who Adorno is you fucking moron.

  • @bahramf

Wow. You knocked me down, kid. Your are almost as brilliant as Timothy McVeigh!

  • @MMDC2001 Learn grammar. "You're", not "your". Also, it's undeniable that he was a smart guy.

  • @bahramf

Smart enough to blow innocent people, including children and babies. You guys are no less than despicable pricks. You are scum.

  • @MMDC2001 You can be intelligent and evil. Have you not heard of evil genius'.

  • @bahramf

Pô, mas tu é chato pra caramba. Tem que ter uma paciência de jó para aturar esses pentelhos americanos de internet.

  • where are the jobs for all the iraq vets coming back? or will all those vets go to afghanistan? eventually, they have to return back here and find no work, no jobs, and they still have their guns. big trouble coming ahead.

  • he is embittered by the state of his country and he is not afraid of expressing his bitterness ... a true patriot ...

  • You can also hear her phone vibrate at 7:55. Fail.

  • Interviewer is not suited for Vidal. I usually like her though, to be fair ;)

  • Waco was a disaster.

  • jcomd the problem of this country is that americans don't listen to people like him...

Taramriel - i agree 100% this new generation of americans specially are lazy and stupid.

  • so brilliant

    ageless

    sail high and long friend...

  • Did the military burn down Waco, or did the ATF and government forces did under the Justice Dept?? Who is lying here? Waco was an abomination by the government, NOT by the military as he would have you believe. Why the libs or the media in this country still listen to failed old people like Gore, Vidal, Clinton, Dukakis, and Carter is amazing to me. If this old coot lived out his life in his beloved countries, he would be a prune in a nursing home. And yet he complains. To him, typical american.

  • Age is hardly a reason not to listen to people. For a start Clinton is hardly old. Also you are obviously not a Liberal, probably some sort of Reagan-ite.

  • do u, gore, think that t.m. didn't know who was in the federal building??? also, do u think that if waco was full of blacks, latinos, et al., t.m. would have been so vehement about revenge? now, i agree with u on 90+% of issues u speak on, but u might want to consider that u have "blind-spots."

  • GV forgot to mention Rajneesh (Oshu)who bought ranch in Wasco County, Oregon with huge follower creating a community.

Osho claimed that he was poisoned in US jail and January 19th, 1990 died as a result.

Brilliant mind who helped so many to open up to the truth around the world.

This was an end of another community similar but less eventful as Waco, Texas' one.

US is fighting for corporatism=Fascism. That's insult to dead veterans just cause we have these political crooks, hope, 4 the best !

  • "constant boasting without much to boast about" LOL

  • You really didn't pay attention. @ 6.30 Google youtube Gore Vidal 1995. "I would use due process of law."

  • The US will not regain its footing because you are all too lazy and stupid.

    Thank you.

  • Obama made this statement on July 2 in Colorado Springs:

In talking about his plans to double the size of the Peace Corps and nearly quadruple the size of AmeriCorps and the size of the nation's military services, he made this rather shocking pledge: "We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

  • His statement regarding the US dependence on the military to achieve national security objectives, Barack is stating that the US does not maintain its National Security solely through it's military. N.S. is also achieved through education of all citizens, community service for youth. This is similar to a draft, with one distinction, it is not tied to military service.

"If the only tool you have is a hammer, you will see every problem as a nail." -Abraham Maslow.

  • No, Obama is a tool used by fascist bankers.

You are a little slow and naive.

  • Mcveigh may have been involved in the bombing in OKC but his truck full of fertilizer did NOT do the damage to the federal building as portrayed. There were also bombs planted in the building, a few of which did not explode and had to be removed by the bomb squad. You can find news video of that days events on the internet but you will not see it replayed on National TV.

  • I hope he lives long enough to see the US regain it's footing.

  • @killerbandit Will we? I hope so...but if we can't get it together...our leaders..ourselves....and stop the hate mongering nothing is gonna change. We have to change ourselves first..then we can change the country. Tall order.

  • @killerbandit

So do I,but I'm afraid AMERICA may never recover.. I hope "IT" does

but I don't think "it's going to "recover"....

  • @killerbandit Ha ha, not bloody likely! Buy the time the freedom tower is finished it'll be standing in new Beijing.

  • @killerbandit Ha ha, not bloody likely! Buy the time the freedom tower is finished it'll be standing in New Beijing.

  • @killerbandit Not gonna happen. Bush was the beginning of the end of America. Vidal is right to be so pessimistic about the future here. He knows politics and our history very well. We are a trillion dollars in debt to a Communist power, thanks to Bush. They will be the next superpower very soon and we will be at their mercy. We already are. All they have to to is unpeg the Yuan and we are SCREWED!

  • @killerbandit I've never heard of people living for a 1000 years.

  • @viniciusb Ooh....that's nasty! :)

  • @killerbandit I hope I do as well, I'm 18...

  • George Bush: Give me my country back, and dont EVER try and steal from me again.

  • yeah, maybe mccain can steal it this time...*sigh* as if obama is much better.

  • None of us know how Obama will react to being in office. But I do know one thing beyond a shadow of a doubt. Obama is saying things that no politician on the major stage has said for a LONG time. The public record indicates that he came from a middle class family without a dad and is now running for US president. He wasn't born with the silver spoon, or married into wealth. He seems to have earned his position.

  • Do you know that Obama wants a civilian "police" force equal to in power as our military? Why would we need this and who will this force be used against?

  • Do you know that your current government ALREADY uses the military as law enforcement agents against its own citizens. See current administrations acts in post Katrina. Your assertion is news to me, and I am skeptical about your intentions.

  • I am very much aware of how the US military is being used as LE and then some. You are skeptical of my intentions yet you admit you are ignorant the subject? Look it up and then you may understand my concern. If you believe my intent is to discourage voting for Obama I would have to counter with: Know the candidate you are voting for.

  • Sorry I am not yet aware of every republican slander. I do remember a 'brown shirts' smearing attempt some time ago. I will look into it.

  • Look, people, we get such a one-sided biased view of our country and our government from the main stream media - Time, USA Today, The New York Times - isn't it refreshing to hear another side, whether you agree with him or not? I mean, our media is so corrupt and so controlled by wealthy interests, it's almost impossible for the average American to understand what's going on. Vidal is trying to tell us what the mainstream tried to hide.

  • Whoops, Sorry Gore, I draw the line at Timothy McVeigh.

  • Bush is not intelligent enough to plot 9/11 and get away with it, and Bin Laden has been killing Americans since well before Bush was president. Don't be sheep.

  • Do you really think so? I think you're creating straw men here... a 'war on terror' is a false concept to begin with because you cannot declare war on a loosely defined concept (no official UN legal definition exists with Arab and Western states still arguing over the 'freedom fighter' v 'state terrorism' problem) regardless of the its religious basis. As for Saddam, well if you actually think that Iraq was about 'human rights', then you're delusional. States fight wars for interests.

  • You're right about one thing: your explanation was simple, but unfortunately it doesn't deal with the reality.

Killing civilians is terrorism is it? Wouldn't that make the US, Britain, Israel, France, Russia, China (UNSCPM)all terrorist states? All of these countries have been responsible for the deaths of civilians that they gave engaged either directly or indirectly in military operations (current Iraqi civilian death count was over 100,000 last time I checked). This isn't black and white.

  • That's your problem lombard. You assume too much. I don't hate the US anymore than I hate the Tibetan monks. I'm just realist, plain and simple. And as a realist I'm not advocating the US go into Darfur, but suggesting that is what it would do if it were genuinely concerned with human rights. Ultimately what this comes down to isn't nationalities, but perspectives. You're an idealist, I'm not. I don't trust regimes of any nature to do 'what is good', I trust them to do what is good 'for them'.

  • But why Saddam? He's one of a raft of dictators around the world, and he's not even the worst of them. He was horrible, sure, but Iraq as a country, with its 3 conflicting ethnicities, was only possible under a dictatorship. This region will ultimately need to be reshaped AGAIN, but requires a lot more work than any country currently involved in Iraq is willing to do, and is in any case not their job.

  • Comment removed

  • No to getting Americans killed in Iraq OR Sudan! No to taking sides in tribal disputes with cluster bombs!

  • Saddam needed to be disposed of did he?

What school of politics did you study at? States (means countries) are not moral agents unless it suits their interests, otherwise the US would be in Dafur right now. They're not, and appear more worried about Iran. Either way foreign dictators have been supported by European powers and the US for a very long time (France and US were backers of Saddam), and they only turn on them when they lose their grip on them. That's the reality. Get used to it.

  • The ATF is not a military branch.

  • mabey you just know nothing of the Davidian massacre

  • Sure I do. But what's your point. The ATF is NOT a military branch of government.

  • god whoever cut these clips should learn that you should always start the next clip 3-4 seconds before where the previous clip cuts. this way you don't miss any words or points. watching the end of the first clip to the beginning of this clip you miss what he was saying about the 911 coup

  • I have only one complaint with this Video.

It is "of AMERICA" not "is" AMERICA.

Focus creates the greater clarity to Paint the more accurate Picture.

    Rest In Revolution

  • bush and his crew make little timmothy look like a choir boy

  • So.. Bush & his criminals should be executed and Timothy McVeigh is a patriot? This man is so full of it.

  • I don't stand up for McVeigh but YOU stand up for BUSH? DO you realize how many millions have been killed because of your vote for him?

  • Uh...? When the hell have I ever voted Republican?

  • So then what's your point about Vidal? Did you see all 4 sections? You don't agree with him?

  • He was not defending McVeigh. Should really listen before you start to criticize.

  • xenu, are you full of it or angry about hearing truth when most of what you know are lies?

  • How messianistic of you. Perhaps we should ask Prophet Vidal to tell us the truth so that we'll all know it and obey his great words. My problem with Vidal isn't with what he's saying (well, mostly not with what he's saying) but with the fact that he's so lazy and shallow. He doesn't give a shit anymore. Compare him to Chomsky, who is informative and educational. If you listen to Chomsky speak you'll learn something. Vidal is dealing in pretentiousness and triteness.

  • I agree with xenu. Gore Vidal is intelligent, and he knows it, and he is just an absolute prick about. And there are quite a few in the video where he speaks highly of himself or knocks the questions of Amy Goodman as petty.

  • how does it feel to be created by a science fiction author only to be followed by rich loons?

  • Uh... Xenu is the *enemy* of Scientology. I am NOT followed by them. I am like Satan to them within the Christian tradition. And not all cult members are loons. Just very confused people.
