I agree that they shouldn't have been blocking a major public intersection, but the police response was ridiculous and should have been limited force with riot shields to push them out of the street. They should have at least tried negotiation first as well before assuming a couple of hot-headed assholes with sticks were part of a crowd including the elderly and pregnant.
@audioajunkie no, but the fact is, peaceful protesters are being unnecessarily arrested and pepper sprayed up for no reason other than convenience. the right to free speech and the right to assembly are intrinsically connected to democracy,an assault on peaceful protest is an assault on democracy, a thing i thought american's held close to their heart
@MrLucasNess -- Well, if you read the news reports, I see otherwise. The protesters who attacked a police officer with a stick were being less than peaceful. And the entire group was blocking a major road during rush hour, which is why the cops were trying to break it up. If they had been blocking a street in my hometown, I'd want them to be cleared out, too! The protests of the few should not disrupt the rights (i.e. to use of the road) of the many.
@audioajunkie protests aren't effective unless they disrupt the day to day goings on of the majority. also a small minority of anarchical dickheads are ruining an almost 100% peaceful march, one person with a stick hardly warrants the use of pepper spray on hundreds of occupiers.
@Volcano2014 I understood to do nothing was to not consume anything. Instead of buying petrol walk everywhere instead of buying food grow it yourself instead of consuming power wash by hand sweep and wash floors instead of vacuum go back to the grass roots. Now imagine if all the people occupying did this don't you think those at the top would soon be starved off? Its your taxes from your hard labours that feeds them which means they cant survive without us
@2Crystalight while those at the top would be in economic strife if everyone stopped buying anything at all. you cannot go back to the stone age and expect to survive and thrive as a nation, economic equality can not be reached by living tech free and consumerism free. consumerism can exist alongside economic equality.
I'm proud of those people trying to use their right to make their voices to be heard and boy do they get it to work ! They not only have to suffer in the cold, rain and other problem but risking from being arrested or get beaten by police but they're out there ! They're an American ,they're the 99%, they're teachers, soldiers, business people, may be soem policemen, firemen, working class people. God Bless you all.
I completely agree with fibbersfan... Took the words right out my mouth... If this was my grandmother , grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin.Shouldn't go near hell if you don't want to get burned. Wish these protests would just disappear.
The police were provoked by many occupiers. Many other occupiers simply followed the instructions of the police. How would police know a woman was three months pregnant. The elderly woman made the decision to put herself into the situation. The police were just doing their job. People like to be dramatic.....and make it out to be something that it's not. People chose to make a statement in the middle of a intersection in rush hour. They got the reaction they wanted from police.
@fibbersfan their job is to protect and serve the people. protests don't work if you merely shuffle home when told. just like strikes don't work if you just go back to your job when you're told.
i think i will buy alot of pepper spray :) and a gas mask

Respond to this video... Monitory system is stuffed because they want progress and there is none it has exhausted itself.

@MrLucasNess Its not as simple as that any kind of protest friendly or not I think will give them an excuse to start war earlier than intended.

@2Crystalight start war? what war? so far by the large there has been nothing but peaceful resistance to police.

@2Crystalight . You know, Freedom? Democracy? Civil rights? The police were the only ones who were a danger to others.
