On top of that, they held their opponents under 70 points 16 times(at least) if I'm right, and 5 times in a row!!! In the playoffs, they held opponents under 70 6 times!! That was arguably the best Defense ever! Good Times.................

i agree that spurs-pistons final was one of the best ive ever seen. I wouldn't say your spurs got lucky, the pistons had the lead in the fourth but they just decided that they didnt want the title for whatever reason and SA out played us. I loved this Pistons team! It was so awesome to see them take down the Lakers when everyone said the Pistons should "just be happy to be in the finals" before game 1
I don't! That team was so egotistical, wasn't deep and didn't really play as a cohesive team. I'm glad things turned out the way they did because now we have a selfless team, with a very deep bench, that's young and can contend for championships at least the next 5 years. When Kobe retires the Lakers can go out and get another superstar to take his place too.
It's all about the future so you have to be patient. Joe D made that trade because Iverson has an expiring contract and he's trying to rebuild the team. The Pistons will get some free agents this summer and in 2010. It might not be what you guys (Pistons fans) want right now but it'll work out.

Ben Wallace is a black hole on offense, but he can get a lot of offensive rebounds for you. Chauncey was getting complacent and we didn't need him to beat the Orlando Magic in the playoffs. Right now we do need AI. He's our only consistent scorer.
this 04 piston team was epic, i call it the dynasty that never happened....we had a prime ben wallace rebounding like 15-18 a game, a hardened rasheed, a hungry prince and hamilton, chauncey who lead the team like a maestro, the best 6th and 7th men in the league (williamson, okur), 2 great on ball defenders (james, hunter), old elden campbell, dunkin darvin, the human victory cigar (milicic),and the sec. of defense for coach larry brown.
A fantasy that people need to stop living. Chris Bosh would have gotten no playing time at all because of Rasheed Wallace. Dwayne Wade would have gotten no playing time because of Richard Hamilton. Detroit had already drafted Tayshaun Prince and were developing him into their future SF. David West is overrated and has inflated stats because of Chris Paul. If Detroit drafted any of these guys, they wouldn't have been the stars that they are today due to hindered development.

Larry Brown doesn't like to play rookies, and I remember he sat LeBron and Melo in the olympics. There's no way that I would want them to take place of Sheed, but boy would that have been a bench. Okur, Williamson, Bosh or West, we didn't need Wade though. If we had one of them, we could have got some value for them in a trade.
Now that I actually take a look back, Chris Bosh would have made sense. Detroit didn't have Rasheed Wallace yet, and Ben Wallace was their power forward at the time. Clifford Robinson was the center I believe. I can see why Joe took a chance at grabbing a center since it was a need. Although it would have been nice to have one of those players off the bench.But in the end, we ended up getting Rodney Stuckey. So I can't say I'm too upset.

i agree that spurs-pistons final was one of the best ive ever seen. I wouldn't say your spurs got lucky, the pistons had the lead in the fourth but they just decided that they didnt want the title for whatever reason and SA out played us. While I don't care for the spurs at all u have to give them credit for winning what, 3 titles in 6 years. And as for us destroying the lakers, well watching them win that was almost better than sex, almost.

I fucking hate the Detroit Pistons. I take great satisfaction in knowing that they lost to the Spurs the next season in the 2005 Finals and now in 2009, they are an irrelevant, disassembled team that sucks.

This game proves that deffense wins championship. The lakers had four future hall of famers and still lost and even held shaq and kobe to about 25 points combined in game 3 I think.

I always loved how the Pistons represented in a nutshell what the city of Detroit is really all about - hard work, teamwork and lots of heart and soul.

It showed the reality of the Lakers "dynasty" (btw 3 is NOT a dynasty, try at least 5). Detroit had a real center on 'd' & the boards, not McCulloch, old Mutombo or Smits. Shaq couldn't just dunk & dominate like mad, & Kobe had actual pressure from more than 1 guy, like w/ J. Kidd when playing the Nets, & had to work on both ends. .

I don't! That team was so egotistical, wasn't deep and didn't really play as a cohesive team. I'm glad things turned out the way they did because now we have a selfless team, with a very deep bench, that's young and can contend for championships at least the next 5 years. When Kobe retires the Lakers can go out and get another superstar to take his place too.

It's all about the future so you have to be patient. Joe D made that trade because Iverson has an expiring contract and he's trying to rebuild the team. The Pistons will get some free agents this summer and in 2010. It might not be what you guys (Pistons fans) want right now but it'll work out.

Ben Wallace is a black hole on offense, but he can get a lot of offensive rebounds for you. Chauncey was getting complacent and we didn't need him to beat the Orlando Magic in the playoffs. Right now we do need AI. He's our only consistent scorer.

this 04 piston team was epic, i call it the dynasty that never happened....we had a prime ben wallace rebounding like 15-18 a game, a hardened rasheed, a hungry prince and hamilton, chauncey who lead the team like a maestro, the best 6th and 7th men in the league (williamson, okur), 2 great on ball defenders (james, hunter), old elden campbell, dunkin darvin, the human victory cigar (milicic),and the sec. of defense for coach larry brown.

A fantasy that people need to stop living. Chris Bosh would have gotten no playing time at all because of Rasheed Wallace. Dwayne Wade would have gotten no playing time because of Richard Hamilton. Detroit had already drafted Tayshaun Prince and were developing him into their future SF. David West is overrated and has inflated stats because of Chris Paul. If Detroit drafted any of these guys, they wouldn't have been the stars that they are today due to hindered development.

You got some great points Wheelio and I've had time to think about your reply. Nobody's right or wrong on this, I also had something to add that agrees with you. Larry Brown doesn't like to play rookies, and I remember he sat LeBron and Melo in the olympics. There's no way that I would want them to take place of Sheed, but boy would that have been a bench. Okur, Williamson, Bosh or West, we didn't need Wade though. If we had one of them, we could have got some value for them in a trade.

Now that I actually take a look back, Chris Bosh would have made sense. Detroit didn't have Rasheed Wallace yet, and Ben Wallace was their power forward at the time. Clifford Robinson was the center I believe. I can see why Joe took a chance at grabbing a center since it was a need. Although it would have been nice to have one of those players off the bench.But in the end, we ended up getting Rodney Stuckey. So I can't say I'm too upset.

That Lakers team didnt stand a chance against that Pistons team,that 04 Detroit team was vastly underrated. They had one of the top 2 or 3 backcourts in the league, the DPOY, one of the most versatile and best big men in his prime(Sheed),a great perimeter defender and versatile scorer(Prince),the 6thman of the year(Corliss),2 more great perimeter defenders off the bench(Hunter,Mike James), Mehmet Okur and oh yeah a hall of fame coach in Brown. That squad was stacked and fit perfectly together.
