  • They need to remake this show and change the voices. Jughead's voice just annoys me and the jokes aren't as funny as they are in the comics.

  • Why would VERONICA be so desperate for cash on the sidewalk?

  • Awesome times Bittz !!! Thanks for the post !

  • Half of those kids are now in their early 50's and probally unemployed

  • @level242 Or died.

  • I got the DVD for $5, so worth the price!

  • @PJs920 You got ripped off.

  • Jughead is amazing!!!! Who cares about his voice, it makes him that much cuter!!

  • Big Moose did steroids, clearly.

  • I LOVE JUGGY!

  • "ARCHIE'S FUNHOUSE" primered on 9/12/70.which included "JOSIE AND THE

PUSSYCATS", "SABRINA AND THE GROOVY GHOULIES"and the"HARLEM

GLOBETROTTERS"-all part of CBS's 1970-71 season. also, before IN THE NEWS,

CBS included "IN THE KNOW" hosted by the JOSIE charecters, shown between

the cartoons- The FUNHOUSE segement reruned in the 1972-73 season.

  • I couldn't help noticing that the shadow boxing gag in which the shadow ends up being knocked out was reused in 1982 for the Police Squad! episode Ring of Fear (A Dangerous Assignment)... :-)

  • Cont. from below:

But then the cartoon came on and something about it just felt sick. It was like Monkees music or something.

That's the same feeling I get when I listen to the Monkees. ".But then the cartoon came on and something about it just felt sick. It was like Monkees music or something.

  • John Kricfalusi, from TVPARTY [hope he doesn';t mind this repost]:,:"A I'd really looked forward to The Archies becauseI'd read the comics all the time and I was drawing dirty pictures of Betty and Veronica when I was a kid. That's the same feeling I get when I listen to the Monkees. "

  • @SteveCarras TL; DR

  • moose gave the matching voice....duhhhh...i guess

  • If you hate the show why are you commenting here?

  • Probably the last great cartoon for about 20 years.

  • @FoxPlant2006 Ah you are forgetting the classic Where's Huddles and the even greater classic, Wait till your father gets home. Archie was LAME by comparison.

  • @zapkvr Not really the same thing. Those weren't really for kids.

  • @FoxPlant2006 I never even mentioned kids. Archie wasn't made for kids either. It was made for adolescents. It was still awful.

  • the worse cartoon ever! paved the way for all the banal, insipid, poorly drawn, unfunny stupid cartoons that are so very familiar

  • as always, amazing!

  • @luv6pup Archie's Weird Mysteries was better

  • This was the archetype for Pee Wee's Playhouse.

  • was there such thing as The Archies Show in 1961

  • Archies voice annoys me but i cant get enough of these comics

  • wasn't this from the 60's?

  • @monicalee23 It was but that was just calledThe Archies Show in 1968. This is another series called Archie's Funhouse which came out in 1973.

  • @yellowcup87 Cool thanks for replying!

  • @yellowcup87 Were the intro's similar? I seem to recall a theater full of kids and Archie getting them all excited for the show. Oh, yeah, and there was also U.S. of Archie? Was that the '68 stuff?

  • What? No "Thunderbolt Theatre, With Quick Drippy Gags"?

  • Is it just me or does this show look weird and scary as hell? I used to watch an archie show as a kid (I'm 21) that used to come on USA network... I'm wondering if it was this.... And if it was I can't believe how brave I was back then... This is creepy

  • Betty was HOT! Good memories!

  • I dare anybody to install that burgler alarm and let's see how accurate it works! lol Everything has to be just right! lol

  • The burg you lar! LOL

  • The crewcut on Reggie is priceless....

  • this is from 1969. i watched it religiously

  • 5:00 OWNED GANSTAH!

  • @ILFZ2 Please grow up little turd boy.

  • HEADSHOT 3:20 =)) BITCH!

  • were gonna make you dance and "shit your pants' fucking piece of shit cartoon YUCK!

  • Archie just does NOT translate well to TV.

Comics or nothing, what are you thinking!

  • @TomRoykouffVideos Why must you always lie mongo clown !!

  • Big Moose was a moron. I loved Archie and Betty.

  • I had read somewhere that Miss Grundy got fired from Riverdale because her and Dilton Doiley were caught making out on campus.

  • Reggie was a villain

  • Check out the kid in the front row at :38.."DEMONS! DEEMMONNNSS!"

  • LMFAO

  • Jughead was a kid toucher.

  • i used to watch this at 7am when it came on sat mornings.watch sat morning cartoons til noon, fat albert came on at 1130 am, early 70's

  • Moose was BS [BEFORE STEROIDS!]

  • i like box bunny and baby toons.

  • This was such a terribly written show even in the 70s. Who wrote this crap, 58 year old men?

  • @GreekGuy9999..I agree. Horrible shit!

  • I concure. I gave up at one minute and fifty five seconds. What awful character vocies,

too. Remember the live version of The Archies that ran on ABC Sunday nights back in the mid seventies? It was a musical and had skits, too.

  • I'll agree with you there.

Even as a kid I thought their jokes were lame almost silly.

Now Bugs Bunny, that's the kind of cartoon that was a cartoon.

  • man i may not have been borin in the 60's or 70's but i love these cartoons alot better than whats on these days

  • The 50's, 60's, 70's, and 80's were the best decades in us history (and maybe i guess the 90's were okay too) but this decade absolutly SUCKED!

  • LOL. i miss the 90s and having all the media focused on my generation. How quickly it ended.

  • The 90's were great because I grew up and was a teen during the 1990's. You have a better understanding and apreciation of the 90's if you graduauted HS or went to college during that decade. This decade was a pure abortion.

  • RIP Dallas McKennon...I still hear you when I think of Archie.

  • 70s generation was great

  • 2:50 - In 1973, Riverdale High educator Mr. Weatherbee gets arrested for breaking into his own home.

In 2009, Harvard educator Henry Louis Gates gets arrested for breaking into his own home.

    Real life imitates cartoons?

  • @jerseyoldschool I only hope that Henry Louis Gates didn't have one of Dilton Doiley's foolproof burglar alarm systems installed in *his* house, jerseyoldschool! :-)

  • @avidviewer67 I dont think so. I think Prof. Gates had the Slomin shield!! : )

  • @jerseyoldschool Well, jerseyoldschool, if it turns out Dilton Doiley had a hand in the design of the Slomin shield, then it's no wonder Prof. Gates got arrested! : -)

  • @jerseyoldschool Afraid not. President Nixon did not invite Mr. Weatherbee to the White House for a beer. He was busy offering John Dean clemency if he kept his mouth shut!

  • @jerseyoldschool life began before cartoons. What you commented on makes for an unavoidable fact: it is on an original happening.

  • @jerseyoldschool

Did Mr. Gates have such an elaborate alarm?

  • does anyone know where i can watch this online?.. i miss this show, now that i'm old and remembering my childhood days...

  • the inventer is earnast t bass from andy griffith

  • He's also the voice of Jughead. RIP Howard Morris.

  • They don't make cartoons like they used to,now a days to much violence, not funny.

  • So he was mid 50's and doing a teenaged voice for Archie.....Amazing

  • Wow, that's amazing.....Whatever in the world made me think of this cartoon, track it down and find the voice of Archie passed away last week.......A higher authority, I guess.

  • So who was the voice of Archie?

  • The Late Dallas McKennon who died last week @ the age of 90.

God Bless You Dallas, May You R.I.P.

  • Boy, I didn't know that. I grew up watching Archie when I was around the same age of the kids in the audience.

  • used to watch this, in the 1990s !

  • Congradulations Archie on popping the question to Veronica (and she said 'Yes").

  • i used to have every episode on dvd but it broke :(

  • they actually had a hit "Sugar sugar"! Tell that 2 the Brady kids. BTW, the Brady kids creators were on many many recreational drugs!!

  • No laugh track. What's up with all the fuckin' commercials?

    LAME!!

  • I used to watch this cartoon all the time. Great memories!

  • Me too! :-)

  • LOVED this show when I was a kid. Jughead was (and still is) my favorite.

As to Betty or Veronica? Definately Betty.

  • I heard THAT, wsb!!!

Veronica's just a spoiled rich girl!

Betty's SO much more sweet & wholesome! LOL

  • she WORKS for what she wants No free lunch in this world, you know.

  • WOW this was what cartoons were the year i was born...

  • 70's with Archie!!!!Cool.

  • Big Moose Kinda Sounds Like Taz.

  • jughead was my favorite. Betty or Veronica? I don't know, thanks for posting. B

  • To Moxie, no I tried, but can't see any of myself or my brother and sisters. I remember were near the middle back. I remember wanting to hold one of the signs but couldn't.

I had a flashback of all the balloons falling and remember dancing.

What they did was they had this comedian who basically worked us and made us laugh. I think he sang a bit too. It was along time ago. I'm 45 now.

    Man, the memories.

  • OMG. My brother and sisters and I were actually in the audience. They had a performer named "Skinny Bone Jones", and I remember swaying, laughing and just watching his show. My brother and sisters got really excited to find it was actually for Archies Funhouse. Of course they were not there. LOL.

My catholic school in San Diego took us.

    Very nastalgic.

  • Wow--I have to agree with everyone who said the voice work is awful. None of the characters sounds remotely like a real teenager would sound like.

  • Do they LOOK like real teenager's to you?

Oh my god, are you for real?

This is a CARTOON show, in case you hadn't noticed. Furthermore, it's a COMEDY series.

HOW is it supposed to be realistic??? LOL, IT's ARCHIE!

  • chill hcvang, personally i agree Meln TX the voice work could be better and more real.

  • well, why dont you jump on the next time flight and tell them, there back in 73, that their program for children needs to be more real..?

    christ.

  • I think they're voices sound fine

  • Does anybody who was in this footage recognize themselves? If so What were you really seeing on the stage?

Yeah polyester clothing was very stuffy! I'm glad when I was a kid it was all gone but my older sister wore it and still has some of her polyester dresses.

Despite the material used they are very cute and I did wear one of them -the least uncomfortable one she had-

  • Whaddya know, Big Moose sounds just like Bullwinkle (lol)!

  • based on today's cartoons the way children see them is in no way like we used too watch them. example: Today's cartoons based on fighting wars dull humor and worthless story lines and softcore porno. kinda makes ya think why kids might be so fuck up today with that shit. in the real days growing up saturday morning was prime time cartoons feel good happy funny toons nothing like kicking back smoke a dubbie and chill and laugh good times.

  • "based on fighting wars dull humor and worthless story lines and softcore porno."

I don't think I've seen many cartoons with these descriptions atall.

Dragonball Z is the only one I know of that has even one of those traits, and that's aimed more at teenagers than young children.

  • Amen. But remember we grew up back then. Today's kids know no better than what they are forced to watch. They will grow up with an angry, hateful mentality as a result. Just look at sports and how everytime they show a player profile they have them look angry, then look down, then up...It represents the angry society in which we live in today. God help us 20 yrs down the road. If we are this hateful today, what will it be like then?

  • I blame the atmosphere of hate on Obama.

  • The kids in the opening credits look incredibly uncomfortable. What with the polyester pants that are 3 times too small and their non-breathing material and all.

  • I bet they smelled bad lol.

  • whats an audio preview

  • I dunno, ask God.

  • We wanna see The Archies Fun House in Mexico!

  • And little Reggie is awesome in his simplicity.

  • Pies in the face will forever be hilarious.

  • lol

  • Hot-dog need a foot in his ass....

  • Archie's a slut.

  • I was 5 years old. So i remember MONKEES!! & Partridge Family & family affair & Night gallery reruns. I'm old!!! And thank god we had cartoons like that!! Now its all anime fighting and Adult swim CRAP!!! (except for venture bros.) Thank god for the 1970's when quality tv wuz on (San & son, Jefferson, ALICE, LOU Grant, TAXI (i know but it debuted in 1978). NOW WHO GIVE A SHIT ABOUT GOSSIP GIRL!?!?!?!!? What is it w/ Entertain. Weekly and FUCKING GOSSIP FUCKING GIRL!!!?

  • I'm an 80's kid but a fan of 60's and 70's shows and totally I agree with you about the crap that's on now. I can't stand most of the new cartoons, especially the ones where the facial expressions are a bunch of jotty lines.

  • Someone from Generation Y (Born in 88) agreeing on the same thing! :]

  • TV wants to show foreign cartoons and crap down our throat, rather than give good quality American shows dont ask me why, it isnt working but the TV producers STILL dont get it

  • I like know how they got a filled seats of kids clappin n stuff where all saw was empty stage while we saw archie gang on it what did they see....and how they do it

  • i agree...i didnt konw in 70's they could do that kind of technique in cameras..or in showbiz..

and what could have they sought on that stage 40 yrs ago?

  • split screen, they kids saw a real band but it was cut and the animated stage and charcters were put in for the viewers

  • wow.. watch this on 420... freaking me out man!!!!!

  • Wayyy before I was born. It's nostalgic. I like it.

  • this sucks

  • wow! i remember this

  • My favorite joke from Archies Funhouse:

ARCHIE: Jughead, what's the difference between an elephant and a box of crackers?

JUGHEAD: I don't know, Archie, what IS the difference between an elephant and a box of crackers?

ARCHIE: You don't know? Well, I'm not sending you to the store for a box of crackers!

  • Archie looks like Reggie with red hair. :(

  • no reggie look like archie!

  • Oh gawd I am old. I forgot how cartoons have changed over the years. I actually remember the Archies' when they were on the air. I could not ask any person under 28 about this show now lol. They wouldnt have any idea what I am talkin about

  • Yeah, it's scary when we start talking about things that younger folks don't know anything about!! I laughed in class the other day when our professor made a joke about an album and I was the only one who laughed 0_o

  • I can remember Archie and the gang since I began watching Saturday mornings programs 39 years ago, but my mind was a little fuzzy on the actual formats...until this week!

I forgot all about "Archie's Funhouse" for decades, but it all came back to me today. Not as good as "The Archie Comedy Hour," but not bad. Catchy theme song.

  • it's the 70's davidsGirl19!!!!!!! (BITCH)

  • where the flip are archie's freckles... screw you and your funhouse.

  • ... but... its a funhouse...

  • The freckles were left off on purpose by Japanese animators. Freckles in Japan are known as a "curse of the gods". Also, the voice of Archie is none other than Barry Williams of Brady Bunch fame. The job went to Barry, even though famous stars such as Gilbert Gottfried and Brian Doyle Murray auditioned for the part.

  • Archie's Funhouse was nothing more than government propaganda to make us forget the Vietnam war and the crash at Roswell.

  • makes me forget about any troubles

  • i fucking love archie

  • (.")

  • 1:49 he is picking that statues nose!

  • WoW!What a blast from the past!!!!

  • you would think archies voice would have changed by then...

  • oh...oh my god.

wtf is up with their voices?! and that burglar system takes wayyyy to fucking long, Id die by then xD

  • WHERES THE BEEF???

  • It's out on DVD NOW!!!! Come on in (to a BEST BUY) and get it!!!!

  • holy crap... dilton sounded like a friggin dolt.

  • I agree this was the worst of the archie cartoons when I was little. I remember it was about 10:30 am saturday, and before it was over I was already outside , and every one knows you never stop watching cartoons till noon!!!

  • josh3455 it's not funny laughing at a mentally challenged person.the ones who stupid and dumb with normal atitudes yes i'll laugh at them like moose.i have friends that are mentally challenged and most with down syndrome.they can't helped being mentally challenged, but people like jerry lewis, eddie murphy, lucille ball or any normal person who act dumb ,yes it's makes me laugh, like moose.

  • DUUEEYUH HYE KIDS!

  • moose=(i think)patrick back then??

  • Wow umm they like to make fun of the mentally challenged.. :D

  • by the time that the alarm goes off the burglar would have stolen half of the house XD

  • The complete DVD of this show comes out tomorrow. WOO HOO!!!

  • O.o weird.... it'd be funny if someone compared this to deathnote or naruto lmao

  • armageddon74400:::

i know! its impossible...which is why im gonna try:

they're REALLY bad with colours....jeez! archie's more pale then SAI!!lol ! i know that sucked, but im the only one who tried!

moose sounds like a cross-over between the Tasmanian devil and proky pig! but srsly, they all sound f*cked up!

  • that show is so funny, I didn't know it existed until now, the voices weren't what I expected but it is funny, especially Betty's diary.

  • I consider that the cartoon of archie is but faithful to the archie drawings they are very pleasant and very in fashion of that time. l also is the first animation of archie and very similar s
