  • One of the best for clapping, when the floor was full, and bringing on the talc! Keep on keeping the faith. N/S'r from 1976 - 78, W.Casino

  • cracking tune with a difference

  • I remember this record like it was yesterday at the Biddulph Town Hall discos in 1978/79. All the lads were wearing ridiculous 40 inch soul bags and Fred Perry T-shirts. Lol.

  • Old School

  • wow brings back great memories

  • This is the first Northern tune I ever heard, still got it to this day and when things are a little strassed, this takes it all away, still makes me tap my feet and puts a huge smile on my face, think that's where the phrase "keep the faith" comes from...

  • One of my all-time Mod faves. Thanks for posting it up!

  • The marmite of Northern soul, you either loved it or hated it, its got nowt to do with soul but fantastic for dancing to.

  • I was instantly transported back to the youth club. It was the first time i had heard this track and it was brill. lads and lasses gliding about on the floor and the top half of the dj gliding about behind his decks (thats what it looked like anyway i am sure his feet and legs were going mental out of sight lol). first impressions last, and this one has and still does and always will. Thanks for posting it

  • Shame you didn't go to Monday Night Palais circa 1974/75 kiwicat - You'd've had to dance to it there!! :o). I think you'll also find a lot of what you'd call Northern Soul wasn't good enough for the Soul world - hence the number of rare records around. anywho, KTF in Notts, eh!!

  • @mtimp We were indeed there in the Bali Hai Monday nights mtimp: Still didnt dance to it! Not clear on your meaning about what was good enough for the soul world as I think it goes without saying that the amount of rare stuff picked up as northern soul was indeed not right for the mainstream market,,Each to their own a?

  • @Kiwicat Yes, each to their own. Lot of 'snobbishness' about 'Northern Soul' if it ain't a balack guy wailing, it ain't Northern Soul!! Perhaps that's your perspective?? Personally, if you could dance to it, that was good enough for me. Hope you enjoyed spending your pocket money watching the rest of us having a good time :o). Regards.

  • THis was a dancers record.....hear it with a good bass system......I couldn't give a sh*t if some knob-heads say its pop.....if it got my hair tingling and my feet spinning it was NS......KTF.......and lighten up some of you....did you ever dance????

  • this is a great track, only found out today who it was buy , the last time i heard it was in 1978 ,under sixteens bournemouth town hall ,this was one of there anthems, thanks for putting it on

  • This is like several other Northern (un-Soulie) Soul numbers.....Bok to Bak, Many's the Slip etc.....yes they are probably shit in real terms.....but when the floor is full and everybody is going for it...those soaring violins, the hook, the clapping.....makes your hair stand on end!!!!!!!

  • @dogstoat Yep, if i had hair it would be standing on end now. takes me back to the early 80's.
