  • My favourite clip in the movie

  • I don't actually get this kind of humor. But I still find it very entertraining and interesting.

  • I've always tried to explain the humor in this scene to others... I'm glad someone singled it out as a clip in its own right and over 250,000 people recognized it for the wonderful scene it is.

  • lmao i love this movie

  • This was brilliant, Bill is brilliantly cast.

  • haha this movie was honestly sooo stupid but it could have been one of the funniest movies ever....the way the werid music tunes were put in at random places were simply genius by wes anderson..easily top 25 comedies of all time its not even a comedy its like its own genre

  • I have the soundtrack cd lol

  • Bill Murray is one giant chill pill. I can't imagine anyone else in this role, making this movie worthy.

  • Favorite scene in the whole movie, hands down. Wes Anderson + Bill Murray= Comedic Gold.

  • 15 people were eaten by a jaguar shark!

  • like it if Liam Brickhill of cricinfo from chat brought you here

  • i love quoting this movie in everyday life. No one knows that i'm referencing the best dry-comedy in history, but thats ok!

  • Perfect acting. The way he restraints himself. He is a genius

  • I can't respect anyone who doesn't find this funny

  • coolest ringtone ever

  • Too good!

  • What is the title of the song?

  • @Californianization Mark Mothersbaugh - Ping Island/Lightning Strike Rescue Op

  • Subtle outrageousness. The absolute brilliance of Bill Murray. You just feel it or you don't.

  • When ik saw the movie i was like WTF? ...but really i watched it over and over and loved it more and more =)

  • this is one of my favorite scenes in the whole dang movie!! this, and the part where Jeff Goldblum smacks Cody and says "be still Cody" i cried from laughing so hard!

    Wes Anderson is the best!

  • @murdocthedestroyer Goldblum wearing the "I'm A Pepper" shirt after the rescue is a hilarious subtle touch too.

  • @kipptumor it's been a while since I've watched this - and payed close attention to details - what is the significance of the shirt??

  • @murdocthedestroyer I guess it's just that Goldblum's character (captain Hennessy) is such a spoiled, rich guy, and after he is abducted by pirates they give him a swarthy "I'm A Pepper" shirt to wear. It is subtle, but then again...

  • freaking love the song. it's a classic. hahaha

  • @tlv156 could you please tell me which song is it?

  • @valentinelovesdots

ping island lightning strike rescue op by mark mothersbaugh

  • @pepparpeppar thanks! I found it! I would like to use it as a ringtone but it's .flac and I don't know how to convert it into .mp3 :(

  • Bill Murray is famous for his unique comedy but I think as an overall actor, especially with emotional scenes, he's far too underrated

  • Im waiting for some weed to come in the post. When it gets here one of the first things I'll do is watch this film. I think it's in the top 5 movies ever.

  • @tolstoythegreat You can get weed in the post?! :0

  • @GENERICCEREAL67 yeah from my bro. I'm at uni and he's at home - same country :)

  • how the fuck did nobody laugh their bollocks off?

  • You listen to me, sonny.

  • Do the interns get glocks? They all share one.

  • “Supposedly Cousteau and his cronies invented the idea of putting walkie-talkies into the helmet. But we made ours with a special rabbit ear on the top so we could pipe in some music."

  • @TNPKGB Thanks bro....i have already found it and the last month i have this for Ring tone...xD

  • ...he gets me everytime

  • ... how does cate blanchett keep herself from laughing. i'd be rolling on the ground.

  • This is my favorite move. How did everyone around him keep from laughing and ruining the scene?

  • I love how he can't figure out what to do with his hands while he's dancing. Bill Murray is a genius.

  • @supawill0709 Bill knows what to do - He just did'nt want to overshadow the diver theme..

  • little awkward arm shuffle

recovers with a hands on hip bounce

    i love him

  • bigpooper28 you are correct sir.

  • Creo que es mi película favorita.

  • the most LOL moment of the movie :D i love that theme :)

  • Thank you!!!!:)

  • What song was playing there?

  • Ping Island Lightning Strike

  • It was written especially for the movie. They have it on the soundtrack and I dance to it every time it comes on.

  • So smooth.. So smooth.

  • does anyone knows the name of the song?

  • Er "Ping Island/Lightning Strike Op" I think

  • You should upload the whole dive scene! It's my favourite. <3

  • Crohnies...another Bill Murrey improv special...I fucking love it ! This brand of humor is the shit. You get it or you don't. Well and if you don't then your a small minded family Guy watching retard. (but no, I love FG too) but you know what I mean.

  • Ya i know what you mean. Wes anderson is really good at creating that sort of humour

  • Omg Hahaha, im like you lol

I think Life Aquatic is fuking hilarious !

My dads always saying "Whats so funny" im like everything!!!

  • @bigpooper28

I have never met someone on the internet with such words of wisdom, please tell me you like the movie: Best In Show.

  • @bigpooper28 i'd prefer you insult to be "simpson's franchise watcher"... FG is funny, obviously it's a cartoon, so improv isn't really an option, but at least it has to still try and can't pump out crap and still get high ratings because it "used" to be good...

  • @bigpooper28 Way to be open-minded, guy. Calling people retards just because they don't agree with your taste. Also, it's "you're", as in "you are". You're welcome.

  • @phistickie hi grammar troll.

  • @bigpooper28 Good one. One of the best scenes in the movie. The line "so we could pipe in some music.." is what tickled my funny bone.... and the dance. FG appeals to both the complex comedy and the simple fart joke comedy section of people's brains, not that fart jokes aren't complex... but you know what I mean.

  • stevzie!

  • this beats napoleon dynamite's dance by miles though

  • yes! I love Bill Murray! great dance Bill!

  • this jig is up there with the napoleon dynamite dance in all time hilarious shape throwing.

  • Wtf xD

  • very very cool. love it every time.

  • I love how it sounds like he's listening to the soundtrack and the epic orchestral version of this song when they raid the pirate base.

  • I know right!

  • I loved the soundtrack for this film. Especially "Staralfur" when they finally see the shark.

  • movie of the decade!!

  • The music is fantastic, sounds like midi music from old gen games. Same goes for the boat tour scene which looks like donkey kong lol

  • thats classy

  • This is one of the best scenes in a great film

  • Greatest movie i've seen in a long time!! awesome music too

  • Class!

  • that scene made me snort..lol

  • so brilliant.

  • I wish I could get hold of that song, lol

  • It's Ping Island - Lightning Strike Rescue Op by Mark Mothersbaugh, it's on the soundtrack. Which is great by the way :D

  • dude its so stupid how many people say they don't like this film. its refreshing to see that all the comments ive read on here are as they should be - this film is awesome. i think its the funniest wes anderson film by far.

  • they just don't get it, which sucks for them.

  • I was describing it to a friend as being a 70s european spy film.

but instead of spys they're oceanographers

  • Great Film

  • hahaha! i still remember this scene after watching the movie more than a month ago.

  • what song is this ? if it even has a name ?

  • Ping Island/Lightning Strike Rescue Op*

*Original Music Composed By: Mark Mothersbaugh

  • thanks

  • Anything Wes Anderson films turns to cinematic gold. Unfortunately he is that of a perfectionist and manages to pump out one movie every five years or so. Maybe that's what makes him so great; that and the fact he uses the simplest of film making techniques to create amazing masterpieces.

  • the shitty zoom-out at the end is perfect. great camerawork in this film.

  • wes anderson always puts great everything into his movies. he's awesome.

  • Thank god I wasn't eating anything when I watched this scene...I laughed so hard!

  • I love how awkward it is. Especially when he puts his hands on his hips.

  • so fucking funny almost pissed myself gat dam

  • I love this movie.

    Great cast, great music.

  • pOr esa esCena reNté la pelikula y termIne kompRándola!!!

    genial peLíkula!!!!

  • very cute

  • I laughed so hard when I watched this!

  • What is that song? its so weird.

  • Ping Island/Lightning Strike Rescue Op by Mark Motherbaugh

He's done the soundtracks to most of Wes Andersons films.

  • Cheers

  • He was invloved in the band DEVO, think they're oz? 80's electro punk?

  • Ahh I love this film <3 <3

  • i luv this scene

  • 0:17 is the best!! love this song...

  • Hahahaah, love that clip!!

  • does anyone know where i can get this song?!?!?

  • must be all the time he spends underwater.

  • actually, eleanor was with steve later on in life, when they were 34. There's no reason why he couldn't have been fertile before that aka when he was in his early twenties when Ned was born.

  • Bill Murray is awesome!!!!!!!

  • Search for: 'life aquatic the nnoying old man'. Its funny!

  • Ping Island/Lightning Strike Rescue Op.

    Mark Mothersbaugh

  • Go! team rules.

  • I found it on iTunes with the name of Ping Island Lighning Strike or something.

  • That's correct, by Mark Mothersbaugh. He did the instrumental score for the movie

  • enough of this rubbish talk. What is the song name, people have been asking for it every page.

  • Amongst film junkies and people within the film industry Wes Anderson's films are infamous. It's a type of underground popularity that I don't see dying out anytime soon.

Many actors will do films like this to improve their "street cred" amongst fellow people in the industry. It's good to get away from the monotony of predictable mainstream films and indulge in creativity. The aim isn't entirely money or fame driven.

Something I wouldn't expect the general public to understand.

  • i kind of agree with you. theres a big cult following that loves EVERYTHING he will do, including a 60 minute film of a black dot on a screen with a Deathcab soundtrack.

  • one of the best movies ever wit bill murray in it. he is the best dancer. he deserves a round of applause.

  • LOL, I love Bill Murray. What the hell was that little arm movement he did. It was soo funny and awkward.

  • lol

  • is somebody trying to compare this movie to the godfather?

isnt that abit like a culinary critic trying to compare a steak to an eclair?

  • hahaha NERD

  • lol i love this movie

  • umm, his visual creativness has actually gone uphill buddy.

  • I don't know.. i don't know anyone in my area that dislikes wes anderson.. not everyone digs that type of humor. I also love Office Space.. not many get into that movie either.. as well as CLerks I and II. You don't have to like it.. most didn't, so you're right i suppose.

  • lardass, you are very stupid, for lack of a better word. To say what you say about Godfather, please. That movie is not even comparable to this, but for one reason... Different everything! Drama vs Humor. Mob Story vs Deep Sea Divers. You used a very unintelligent example.

  • Another thing, what makes Godfather so special? I loved it, don't get me wrong, but why is it that movies like that remain classics, whereas movies like A Clockwork Orange, Requiem For A Dream, Darjeeling Limited, Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, and many others, get such negative reviews? Since you don't know why I'll tell you, it's simple really. These are movies which involve some sort of thought process.

  • The problem with "society" is that when they see a movie, they just want to be entertained. They don't want to figure anything out, they want to be given 2 hours of in your face whatever, i.e. Action, Drama, Comedy, Horror, whatever, they want it obvious. No Country For Old Men is another that comes to mind... I work at a video store and I hear mixed reviews, more negative, on this movie. And for the life of me I can't figure it out.

  • It's Drama, Suspense, Action, oh, and don't forget, Comedy, all in 2 hrs. Not bad. But people are left wondering, saying, "I need answers, I need answers!" Why? Use your own imagination and make it up yourself, what's wrong? Not Creative? Javier Bardem's role is such a mystery, so much so that people dislike the movie. I mean, are you kidding me? No wait, you're right, he'd have been ten times better had you been able to UNDERSTAND him. Lol, that's how you and majority think.

  • Just remember, if you look at the minorities in any situation, for the most part, LOGICALLY, they make more sense, they are more "real" thinking as opposed to "fantasy" thinking. Until next time lardhead. G'night.

  • This 30 second clip sums up me in a nutshell. I love it. Wes Anderson for the win.

  • Ok ,.. but by that standart " life aquatic " is not a bad film.. its maybe average ! If you point out movies like the godfather ( the peak ) and talk about the opposite as bad ... this movie definitely is not bad . Mediocre at worst .

  • I cant agree... there are alots of films that got bad reviews and didnt sale much tickets that were amazing . "I believe that the combination of time-plus, critics, plus ticket sales, plus DVD rentals all coalesce into a kind of picture of how good or how bad a movie really is" . No i dont think that this means anything . By the way : ive read alot of very good critics about the movie . So theres really nothing that could seriousely justify such a judgment . Its just a matter of opinion !

  • "Let's be honest here, this is a very bad movie. " pff... maybe YOUR opinion ! Dont act like this is some kind of " fact ". Its one of my favourite movies.... i love the weird sense of humor , the colours, the crappy animations(supposed to be that way),the characters , the beautiful music etc.....

  • lardass is actually right... It got bad reviews, and didn't do well in sales or rentals. I thought it was fantastic, along with Darjeeling Limited, but apparently society is not very keen on dry humor. So yes lardass, you are correct, but why you came to a video of this movie to talk about how it made out after theaters is strange on your part. I really don't think people are watching this vid if they hated the movie. So idk why you bothered telling us that anyway.

  • so sexy...

  • I'm eating a twix

  • Such wonderfully dry humour. :D

  • "Cronies" LMAO.

  • haha, this is EXACTLY what I was looking for when I searched 'steve zissou'

  • Awesome movie, great soundtrack. Love it.

  • Blankfrack is right...lardass dont know what shes talking about!!I thought this movie was really funny...even the dramatic parts! The song is called Ping Island-Lighting Strike Rescue Operation by Mark Mothersbaugh...wicked track hahah!!

  • I love the Music. I wonder what its called.

  • its by Mark Mothersbaugh called Ping Island/Lightning Strike Rescue Op
