My favourite place of all time..!!! Went there every Friday night from about 1972 til late 80`s early nineties when i moved away from toon..! Saw some excellent bands there...met some excellent people too...haven`t seen many of them in years...ahhh the memories..!! R.I.P. The Mayfair... : (

@johnnypocketrocket What trouble we did get - and in my 10 years there, we certainly had the odd "incident", was held at the front door or dealt with very quickly. Even if I say so myself (and on behalf of the rest of the squad), we weren`t too bad at our job!

I was there just about every weekend from 1977 to the late 80s. Less so after that until I stopped going completely in the early 90s. Great days fondly remembered.

Never occurred to me to ever take a camera there though. That is a big regret. More so because some good friends from those days are no longer with us.

Thank you so much. I used to DJ the main room on Thursdays and the small room on Fridays and Saturdays (late 80s/early 90s) and the rockers would come in to hear Bowie, the Cult, etc. Always a great crowd and nice to see Billy (the doorman) who used to repair the equipment when it frequently blew up. Superb memories. Thx again

Wow!...I worked there 1978-80, 18 yr old best job in the world, met Nugent, Schenker, Lemmy and, er...Tony Christie, but also Bobby Thompson (ask your dad), ..broght back some happy memories, Thank you very much
