They're like "cousin" breeds.The american staffordshire terrier was recognized by the akc and was bred more for show and conformation.They ranged between 50-65lbs. The true american pitbull terriers were bred for performance(catchweight, weight pull, also unfortunately the pit) and they ranged from 35lb-100lbs...and now another "cousin" breed is being recognized by clubs..The American Bully. Ultimately all these dogs are great companions

I love both these dogs however generally this isnt the best idea because if one all of a sudden makes a bad move it could turn nasty with the lock jaw not the best idea but its bullshit most of the time i love both breeds but pitbulls are illegal in uk so i am gutted

Lock jaw is a myth. Their jaws don't lock. That myth probably started because of the pit bull style of fighting; they hold on, as opposed to biting and tearing like most dogs. This fighting style dates back to the 1500's when bloodsports were still legal in Europe. Bulldogs were trained to bite the nose of a bull and not let go. Eventually it became a natural instinct for the breed. Pit bulls are a bull and terrier mix. They get their fighting style from their bull-fighting ancestors.:)

when I first got my staffy, my parents were quite concerned as they r such stron dogs etc, but after a wile of gettin to know him they realised that he is such a lovely dog, so loving, it is the media that gives them a bad image, but thanjks to the minority out there who train their dogs to fight and dont show them euf love

American Staffies and pitbulls are sister breeds. But, you most definetly cannot go around calling a American Staff a pitbull, 'cos that is incorrect and a put down for the American Staffy, as they are no where near in temperments, considered the same.

Very sweet video. It reminds me of the pair of pit bulls I used to have. The young male was always pestering the older female to play but she would have none of it. All she wanted to do was lay down and chill. Still she was a good sport and tolerated it without getting mad (most of the time). The old female is gone now and it's just me and Tacoma. Your vid makes me want to get another playmate for him. Now Tacoma will be the old one and finally get a taste of his own medicine. :)

the way their playing looks rough, especially because of their teeth and shit. But my family use to have 3 boxers 2 female and one male, and they played even rougher. Its all about how a dog is raised, not just the breed.

This is just what everyone needs to see! I have 2 APBTs Rebel( 1 year old) and Tuck (4 years). They play with Roxy our 7 month old Lab just like that! Its so cute to watch these big dogs let a puppy win!
