Personally the 2003 POSTSEASON was one of the funnest baseball postseasons to watch. Only the Twins/Yankees ALDS was the only snoozer playoff series. All these series were exciting, as an A'S fan I was glad to see the marlins win it all. I was pretty stoked when they won.

There is no reason you can't keep some of the players that you trade away, it is that simple. It's Loria's fault, he could lock up player's like he did with Hanley. He could afford to do that with Uggla if he wanted but he won't. Olsen and Jacobs are no big deals because your pitching is stacked and you have Morrison and ?Stanton? Well Jacobs needs to learn to have some plate discipline and he could get by as a solid 1b. His glove needs work, that is obvious. Willingham, eh no big loss but I thought they could get more for both him and Willingham. I do like Bonificio though. But if he was truly committed to winning, which he wasn't, he would pay these players and have a solid team for a while. But that would lead to lower draft picks and not as much of a stud farm, but you don't need that cause your farm is nice already,
I think Jacobs has alot of potienal. hes not even 30. Willingham has never had his break out year, I think it could been this year but he had back injuries. I know they didn't actually trade him away. What I was saying is that because their salaries are so similar it is as good as a trade with no financial impact. Considering Proctors recent injuries and Nelson's success I feel it is bad 'swap'. And yes they signed Proctor from free agency. His upside is pretty good and if they could have both I would be all for that but between the two I prefer Nelson. Let's hope Bienfest proves us all wrong again and Proctor has a great season.

Marlins are in a tough market, and I believe every trade they do is for the good of the team. I think they will come through and make some good trade and great signings. Listen, I have a hard time defending the ownership because I dont like them personally, especially Sampson. But I dont think we can really accuse them of being cheap. They actually added payroll the first two years after the WS. Even though payroll has been low the last 3 years all the moves have made baseball and sense. I just hope they dont get too used to racking in the easy cash and dont pay when the team is really in contention again.

Marlins are in a tough market, and I believe every trade they do is for the good of the team. I think they will come through and make some good trade and great signings. Its hard for them to put together a good team while you have 2 players taking up a good portoin of your payroll. I personally am not fond of the owner and president but I am liking how Sampson is being aggressive for this new Marlins stadium.

Well the front office just doesnt like Rabello, and Maybin is still only 20, Miller is still great potiental.
You have to know that the Marlins were doing this trade to trim salary, and get potiental all stars. I think they did a great job. Obvisiously Detriot got the better deal, but Marlins couldt have 2 players taking up like 2/3 of the payroll. They did what they had to do.

First off, you have not stated any facts. You have just stated that "we" play in DOLPHIN STADIUM. I take it you are a player on the Marlins? But actually the "fact" of the matter is, is that the Marlins could support a much larger payroll considering all the revenue sharing checks they get. Jeff should put more money into his team rather than pocket all the money.

If the Marlins had locked up Cabrera and Willis for what they got from detroit the team would have spent all availible funds and not be able to pay hanley or uggla or maybin and stanton in the future. And that trade and others like it are why the Marlins minors are starting to burst at the seams with potential superstars. I think they're seriously competitive for the next five years because of some those "payroll dumps". I understand what you say but there is method to their maddness.

man what the marlins did that year was amazing. to come out of nowhere and win it all was just... an author couldn't have written it any better. and yet, espn or anything sports channel acknowledges them. i remember seeing all those documentaries about the 88 underdog dodgers and kirk gibson's memorable homerun and what the marlins did was more fairytale then that. beat the giants, 3-1 deficit against the cubs and beat the greatest team in pro sports to win the championship.

Season Ticket Holders is what we need. The Marlins have the best deals in the majors. We need fans to get off their ass and just go to the games. You dont have to go to all of them but at least 10 games a season. I bought the 28 game plan last year and Im buying it again this year.
