@1995express Hi, Thanks for such a wonderful comment. We are very, very lucky to have such a nice garden. Our house is nearly one hundred years old so things have been around for a long time. It's great to have the time to run our trains, now we have retired. It's also great fun to combine our hobbies of gardening, photography and garden railways and Balloon Ride seems to capture all three very well. This is one of my favourite videos so glad you liked it. Hope you keep watching!
@TheSodorSteamworks Hi, Thanks for the post. All the music for our videos comes from Apple's iMovie and Garage Band software. It has some great music loops and sound effects that you can build up to make movie tracks and other music stuff. We always add lots of effects including the sounds of water, bird song and background effects. It all helps to make the videos seem real. Hope you keep watching!
@legofan605 Hi, Thanks for the lovely comment. It's great when folks enjoy watching. This video was done to be a little different from our usual ones. Hope you keep watching!
@billtrainthomas Hi, Thanks for the post. The music is from Apple's iMovie software which we edit in Garage Band and then add to the videos. Glad you liked it and do keep watching. G Scale stuff in the garden is just great fun!
@penninefilms Hi, Thanks for this. We hope folks like reading our replies. We always try and reply to any comments so that folks get a 'behind the scenes' feel. We keep the videos simple and in the same genre so folks know what to expect. I suppose it's like a brand. You know what you are going to get when you visit Pine Tree Junction. Things always work out in the end and it's always good family fun. Nothing silly or rude as we know lots of little ones watch. So hope you keep watching!
@penninefilms Hi, Thanks for the comment. So glad you like our little videos. We always try and find something new to do. It's either a new piece of rolling stock or engine, a new building or just a new idea. We find that one idea leads to another so it's not really difficult to keep coming up with things to do. We also get ideas from other garden railways. Check out Charnwood Forest Garden Railway, the good folks there are always finding new things to do. Keep watching!
@zatchHBK85 Hi, Thanks for the post. We have a new Roundhouse live steam loco on order and hope it should arrive later this year. We shall also get any new Bachmann large scale Thomas locos when they come out. Things have been very quiet from Bachmann on any new engines. There were no new large scale Thomas engines in the 2011 Bachmann catalogue, so I am afraid we shall just have to keep watching and waiting!
Again, extraordinary work! The music really gave it a majestic feeling to it. And speaking of which, I know I've heard that score somewhere before. I just can't put my finger on it. :)
Anywho, again, outstanding work and congrats! Keep up the great work! ;)
@GeebMachine Hi, Thanks for the great comment. It's so nice when folks say such nice things. We really appreciate it! The music is from Apple's iMovie'11 which we edit in Garage Band and add sound effects and other stuff. Apple's editing software is used all over the world so I guess you will have heard this music loop loads of times, even in professional videos and movies. Apple commissioned the London Symphony Orchestra to record these tracks so it's great to have such fantastic music.
Congratulations to you and the team, Lindsay, on reaching your 50th delightful production! The ballon view is great and the music very relaxing. I have just updated my iMovie 11 so will have to explore the musical side.
@Summerlandsteam Hi Chris, Thanks for the post. We have been thinking of doing an 'eye in the sky' video for some time so No 50 seemed to be a good opportunity. Music with your live steam videos. Wow! Not sure your loyal followers are ready for that yet. Perhaps you can just have it quietly in the background and they may not notice. Go on then, just for us. You can always blame those folks on Pine Tree Junction for spoiling the sound of a perfectly good Summerlands chuffer. Great fun!
@CFRailway Hi Scott, Thanks for the post. I did bring the monopod with me when John and I came to Charnwood Forest last month. I was planning to do some 'eye in the sky' shots at your railway, but I just forgot. Give it go, your railway would look fantastic from the air as it has so much detail. Keep chuffing!
@MrDCWood Hi, Thanks for the post. Yes, you got it. We used the same locos and set as we did the day before in Evening Shadows. We didn't cover every shot as the 'eye in the sky' shots take longer to show. We also used the same music track so it had to fit the same time line. It only took an afternoon, which is pretty good going for us now. Some of our latest videos are taking us three and even four weeks when we only meet up on Wednesdays. I suppose keep it simple is the best motto.
@JamesBondsSkyline Hi, Thanks for the post. I was a music teacher many years ago, but couldn't possibly create such a great orchestral track as this. The music track comes with iMovie which I then send to Garage Band and add more loops and sound effects. I think the orchestra is the London Symphony Orchestra which Apple commissioned for the iMovie'11 update. You can hear loads of videos on YouTube using the same tracks. Apple have just published Final Cut Pro X so keep watching!
@ThomastheE2engine Hi, Thanks for the post. Yes, a very easy technique but it worked fine. It didn't take too long to film either. Much faster than some of our videos that can take weeks. This was all filmed in an afternoon, edited and uploaded onto YouTube. Keep watching!
@ThomasandRiofan Hi, Thanks for the post. Sorry to deceive everyone, but I am afraid there's no balloon at all. It's just made up. The camera was just hovering over the track on a long pole called a monopod. You use them for keeping your camera still when shooting long shots. It only has one leg so it just keep things steady. I held the monopod horizontal and then just tracked it over the railway as smoothly as I could. Simple really, but I think it worked well. Keep watching!
@modelrailway100 Hi, Well, many thanks for your kind words. No 50. That's a lot of filming and a lot of videos. If we ran them end to end it would be nearly 3 hours. That's a real movie. Anyway, thanks for watching and here's to No 100!
@TruckerJamesHorrell Hi James, Thanks for the post. It's always good to hear from our viewers. I see from your channel you collect trucks and things. Great channel and lots to watch. Ours is just about our garden railway in the back yard. We only started this garden railway thing about three years ago, but now we are retired, it's great fun to spend time looking after the garden, running our locomotives and making these little videos for family and friends. Hope you keep watching!
@PineTreeJunction i have a LGB Layout in my Graden too but not as big as yours and if you look on Trainmadjames which is my second channel and is full of train stuff and also you will be able to see some of my layout
@TruckerJamesHorrell Hi James, Thanks for getting back. Just checked your other channel out. Some really great train videos. Good little G scale and 00 gauge stuff as well. Being interested in locomotives, trucks and model railways can be a life long hobby so you keep on filming and posting on your channel. Great stuff.
@howarth004 Hi Dave, That would be a great idea. Your wonderful railway layout would look fantastic from a 'birds eye' view. Also, all those marvellous flowers and fish in your award winning garden. The trick is to try and keep the camera moving slowly but smoothly. It took a few goes to get it right but I bet you could make a wonderful few videos. Can you slow down your video footage in your video editing package? This was slowed down to 50% and I added some blur on the edges. Great stuff!
@MrTrainman12 Hi, Thanks for the post. Well, two videos in a weekend. It took us two days to film these last two videos although we did use the same locos and set. Glad you liked the "Eye in the Sky' effect. It was easy to do once we got the idea. Just had to fly the camera smoothly but after that it was easy. Keep watching!
@flameboy2961 Hi, Thanks for the post. Glad you liked the new 'Eye in the sky' filming. All our live steam locomotives are safe and well in the Pine Tree Junction engine shed. The reason these last few videos have been Thomas ones is that the team have been away on holiday and it's very difficult to film the live steam locos without the full team. It's much easier to film the electric Thomas series as these only needed two of us. There you go, complications of filming on Pine Tree Junction.
@TheTazzmo94 Hi, Thanks for the post. Glad you liked the aerial shots. They were very easy to do. Just attached the camera to a monopod and flew it around the garden holding it horizontal about five foot in the air. The opening shot goes from horizontal to vertical and ends up about 12 feet in the air. You have to try and move the monopod smoothly but you soon get the hang of it. The rest is all in the edit. 50% speed reduction and special effects with the picture to give it that dreamy feel.
@TheThomasandedward Hi, Thanks for the post. Yes No 50. That's a lot of videos. If you ran them end to end it would be over 3 hours, that's a real movie! It's great fun making these little videos so No 50 had to have something different. The 'Eye in the Sky' shots worked better than I expected. I did slow them down to 50% speed and added some effects to the picture, but it all looks fine so glad you enjoyed it. No 51 will be coming soon so hope you keep watching!
@shotgungamer2006 Hi, Thanks for the post. We filmed this using a monopod to hold the camera horizontal. We just held it steady and floated it about over the railway. The monopod is about 6 feet long so you can reach up really high into the trees. The opening and closing shot is about 12 feet up (they are the same, just reversed) and took a while to get right, but the rest was easy. We use Apple's iMovie and Garage Band for the music. It's just loops and sound effects and works really well.
@Allstarweek193 Hi, Thanks for the post. So glad you enjoy watching our little videos. We make these for our families and friends, especially the younger ones who live away. @TMRReturns Hi, Thanks for the comment. Things certainly look different from 12 feet in the air. The camera was on a monopod so you could hold it up high and fly it around. Some shots are from about 2 feet from the ground and some from about 8 feet. The opening and closing shot, (which were the same, but just reversed) was about 12 feet high so things look very different than our usual shots from ground level. Perspective is a great thing and gives us loads of possibilities. Keep watching!
@JesusBlack14 Hi, Good to hear from you. We are always looking for new ideas on Pine Tree Junction. I watched a railway programme on the TV that had lots of arial shots of the trains and the countryside. Why not on Pine Tree Junction, I thought. Using a monopod to hold the camera horizontal, it was easy. Just had to hold things steady and there you go. Simple really. Keep watching!
@thomas9012 Hi, Thanks for the post. Just thought we would film the railway from a different angle. It looks so different from four feet in the air. The camera was just attached to a single mono pod held horizontally above the track. It worked fine, but was a little difficult to get smooth flowing shots. All great fun so hope you keep watching!
