It is made of rice paste and paper and this makeup form is done by a "chuti" artist, each type of character in Kathakali has a different form of make-up, just like costume, that symbolises that stock character such as the bady, hero etc Keep Smiling :) x

Thank you very much for this marvelous performance. We saw live performances in Kerala many years ago and would love to visit there again. Unfortunately at age-85 this will not happen. To "be there" by means of this video is a great substitute for a real visit!
