  • BIG PROPS TO BIGLISAFAN....may God Bless you and her forever.

  • @mrmarzan7 Thank you. I know she is watching and waiting for me. Maybe we can watch this film together again?

  • I too saw this movie with the girl I was dating. This song evokes such great memories. Luv the song!

  • love song *-*

  • Family Guy

  • This movie brings back memories of my high school days! Dustin should have won BEST ACTOR but he lost to the old dude in On Golden Pond.....(which was a good movie too) sorry Henry Fonda.........

  • Love this song. Reminds me of seeing Tootsie in the theater when I was 5 years old. I didn't like the movie at all, at the time. But grew to love it as an adult. Great Job Stephen Bishop!

  • tootsie is definately one of my favorite movies, probably the greatest comedy of all time

  • this song is comforting, like a mother's lullaby. i think it will help me sleep tonight :)

  • Yes, I agree with you, when the right one is appear then we must know .

I love this movie and this song since my secondary school,

  • sooo wondreful

  • Awesome!!!!

    Thanks!!!!!

  • Thumbs up if Family Guy Han Solo's Midnight Shift brought you here and you think this song is ridicilously cheesy!

  • @eddy87su The song isn't cheesy at all--maybe only if someone is used to the kind of demeaning music of today.

  • Such an awesome classic movie!

  • really doug hutchinson? really?

  • I love this song!

  • Really amazing...

  • what is the movie about?

  • @Lindathemightywitch Didn't watch the movie for a long time but from what I remember it's about an actor that can't manage to find a job as an actor. He notices that females are given a lot more chances to become actresses. So he dresses as a woman and takes an audition - and he gets the job.

The movie is about the things he learn about women and all as everyone believes he actually is a woman (kinda like "What Women Want" that Mel Gibson did).

  • @Lindathemightywitch you should rent it, it's really funny. Dustin Hoffman plays an out of work actor who decides to try to play a woman on a soap opera and gets the job and it just gets crazy and moving and really funny. It still holds up and would be funny to most any age. Enjoy

  • @Lindathemightywitch You MUST watch it!!! One of my favorites, my favorite Dustin Hoffman film ever... Hell, he was a man dressed up as an ugly woman and even *I* was attracted to "her"... If you don't view it, you're missing out! :-)

  • Stewie should've sung this

  • love songs or songs from the heart 1984 arista records i believe.......can anybody get me that list of songs? thank you!!!!!!!

  • Fun movie, and a nice melody - but, really banal lyrics.

  • @blanchdub, love is simple and as old as time. There isn't much more that can be added to it. Sometimes simplicity captures essence best.

  • Beautiful....just beautiful. I remember this song from my childhood and I still love it thirty years later!

  • Does anyone write love songs anymore?

  • @dedbusted Yes I do write love songs.feel free to check out my youtube channel. Love songs will return dont worry.simple times doing simple things we all like the most.

  • @dedbusted, no they write sex songs, love songs come far and in between.

  • jessica lange is so pretty she still is i guess

  • i love this movie dustin hoffman is so funny as dorathy michals

  • Minha eterna princesa JESSICA LANGE!....amo essa mulher.!

  • 1982 had great movie songs. This one and "Eye of the Tiger" lost the Oscar race to "Up Where We Belong".

  • LOVE the part at 2:50 where the camera turns and you see Les adoringly looking at Tootsie (Michael) looking at Julie! #1 Comedy ever!

Just.. just.. just.. owe it all up to Her!!!! on her terms! (Oh, God, he come the terms) As a woman! & just as proud to be a woman as she ever was. for I am not the daughter of Duane and Alma Kimberly. No I'm not!!! I'm Edward Kimberly! Edward Kimberly, the reckless brother of my sister Anthea! (Bill Murray as Jeff in response: That is ONE NUTTY HOSPITAL!)

  • one of the most touching films ever. great for dudes and dudesses. and those in between.

    God bless

  • wonderful song

  • this was my wedding song and part of my wedding invitation.

  • I just threw up in my mouth from reading these nauseating comments....... Love is for poets people. Any guys on here hiding behind androgynous names with heart spoken words are pussies !

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Beautiful. That's it. Beautiful.

  • I'll zap you right in the b'doobies....still get a chuckle out of that line from the movie....

  • I saw this movie back in 82 when I was a kid when it first came out. I really enjoyed it a lot and still to this day it is one of my favorite movies from the 80s. And it didnt hurt to have Bill Murray in it either. He was so funny in this movie. Definetly Hoffmans best film after Kramer vs Kramer, my opinion. The love theme to Tootsie is one of the prettiest songs ive ever heard. It is innocent and simple not eccentric and ghetto like todays music. Stephen Bishops Biggest Hit.

  • I saw this film with a girl I was dating and when I took her hand during the song, I just knew that she was "the one" and she was. We stayed together for 26 and a half years until her death and each time I hear this song, I think of her and that special moment together.

  • @BigLisaFan ending up ,did you marry someone again? I think the real love will appear again that depend on who wtth heart。

  • rea2046. Sorry. Couldn't read your message.

  • @rea2046 maybe my english is not good enough, so sorry!!, I just want to blessing you , hope you will may find another woman falling in love again, that's all .

  • @rea2046 . Your English is fine. Thank you. Maybe somewhere someone special will come into my life again. I'll know when that happens.

  • @BigLisaFan You're a very lucky person. Most people never get to experience that. Her spirit will ALWAYS be with you. Thanks for sharing...gives the rest of us hope :)

  • @BigLisaFan ..that comment moved me to tears..im so sorry for your loss.. take care

  • @MrJonezy79 Thank you. She certainly stayed with me all of my life. Not a day goes by that I don't miss her.

  • @BigLisaFan omg! what you just said touched my heart..really....

  • @catherinedouglas1 It's true. It was almost if we had written this song together. We had visions of growing old together and enjoying our retirement years. Neither of us could have predicted the bad hand life dealt her. Thank you.

  • @BigLisaFan That, is hands down, one of the most beautiful sentiments I've ever read. I'm sorry for your loss. Sounds like you two were a wonderful fit for each other. God bless.

  • @JOHNSTAGS Thank you. Yes, it seems we were made for each other as we had a lot in common and shared many mutual interests together.

  • @BigLisaFan i sent you a mail....thanks for the lovely song...it touched my heart...

  • @BigLisaFan That is beautiful. I just teared up. :)

  • @RainbowBrite87 . Thank you, RainbowBrite87. I still miss her each and every day. She was indeed "the one" after all.

  • @BigLisaFan So sorry for your loss. This song brings back memories for me also. Beautiful song. Take care my friend

  • @uncelsminor . Thank you. I don't think they write songs like this any more. Sad really as it's like reading a part of someone's thoughts.

  • @BigLisaFan that's the most beautiful thing i've ever heard. love to you.

  • @Sarahundart . Love to you too. I still miss her a lot, even now. She really enjoyed Tootsie as well and although I knew it at that moment, I waited a while longer and found somewhere special to ask her if she would stay with me forever.

  • Comment removed

  • @BigLisaFan How romantic. I am sorry for your loss, but happy for you that you found her and enjoyed the time you had together.

  • @AndItsMyWay Thank you. I just wrote what I did and felt at the time! Yes, she wasn't perfect, who is, but she was special and truly turned out to be my soul mate.

  • Thumbs up if Family Guy's Star Wars parody BLUE HARVEST led you to this song HAHA!!!

  • Remember listening to this whilst on holidays in the Phillippines. I recall sitting at restaurant at Ritzal park, looking out across Manilla Harbour...............pure magic!

  • When Jessica Lange smiles at Dustin Hoffman towards the end... gets me every time.

  • Whoever "disliked" this song must be numb, mindless zombies, lacking a soul and a heart and oh I can go on... Seriously. Oh, man. Wow.

  • @tamerswan

    please explain:)

  • @tamerswan That's great. If I were you, I'd meet with that person as soon I was able and comfortable to, just to make sure everything you think you love about the person is actually there in person.

  • tossing the salad . 2:23

  • Good movie w/ such a beautiful song:)

They don't write or sing songs like this anymore.

  • Love this song and the movie "Tootsie". Dustin Hoffman was terrific in that movie (just watched it again yesterday). Thanks for posting this! It's going on my Favorites list. :D

    <3 Maureen

  • Um filme lindo ! Não sei porque pararam de passar !

  • Love Love Love and Beautiful Melody

    Great love song

  • I love this song so much,..it speaks to hope, anticipation, dreams, and love. Often I find myself full of warmth and longing, just to share the feeling whenever I am listening to such a wonderful tune as this is. Love is alive, love can grow, and love is beautiful <3

  • I feel the same way. This is a very pretty song but it makes me sad.

  • This is a song that will reach into one and squeeze the heart and soul. The music is exquisite in form and the poetry is an equal to the music. I don't really get sad, I think the word is melancholy. It reaffirms that am still living in my heart and not just my head. This is a song that I am going to record with my Saxophone along with a lifetimes worth of Love songs like it.

  • Best song ever!

  • It's 1 of those songs u hope that some1 will dedicate 2 u some day. My husband dedicated this song 2 me when we started dating. He played it on an anniversary when i walked in thru the door getting home from work. Makes me cry every time.

  • It's one of those songs you hope that someone will dedicate to you some day. my husband dedicated this song to me when we started dating. He played it on an anniversary when i walked in thru the door getting home from work. Makes me cry every time.

  • I have to agree with the others who say this is a great song, he has a lovely voice and this song does make me just a little sad. This was one of the best movies I have ever seen.

  • we played this song at my wedding, as i am a railfan and have been "watching trains go by all of my life" and the words just seem to fit how i felt about my beautiful bride. that was 14 years ago and we are still a couple and the song was right..."it will just be you all the rest of my life." I love you Tina

  • great love song

  • i love this osng.. makes me feel sad :(

  • Happy 2011! First resolution, give up loving this song. Good thing for my healthcare.

  • Great great song love it:)

  • Good movie, exceptional song. But I am a liberal. Whatever!

  • I like the part at the beginning when Dustin Hoffman smiles at "time".

  • This song is soooo good, you would hope the artist would have moved on and did another great song from hell/life ?

  • amu essa musica e mais ainda o filme

  • The song, still stands on its own.

  • And, who wrote this song, SB?

  • This movie was the "cure" about straight, gay, and the middle of the road people.

  • This song is awesome...the movie is weak at best...oooooooo!!!!! Some guy dresses like a woman to get an acting job ...breaks the heart of the father of the chick he loves...then gets the chick in the end...Dustin H. You are better than that...shameful 80's movie

  • When are they going to make a video using the ISHTAR soundtrack ??? :O(:O( ...

WHENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN?? AAAAAAAAA ISHTAR WAS A CLASSIC.......PIECE OF S HIT... S

  • I agree this is a beautiful song. I have to fight back the tears on songs like this.

  • Always loved this song from Tootsie. Great memories of watching this movie growing up. Film and music are forever.

  • This song always made me cry!

  • It's weird because I read the "sad" comment before playing the music, plus I know the song since I was a kid, but as I played the music while reading the lyrics (for the first time) I actually did cry just a little. The line that got me was

"Looking back as lovers go walking past...

    All of my life...

Wondering how they met and what makes it last."

I used to do exactly that. For years. Then I met someone very special. :)

  • Sometimes you fall upon a gem of a song...this is it.

  • Did they make the movie around this wonderful song?

  • What came first, the music or the movie?

  • really great song, love this movie

  • If anyone in my age group knows, these people are the best actress, again and again best actor again.. stop... it's like beyond the Hamptons...Martha's Vineyard.

  • Loved the movie and always wondered who did the score.

  • Beautiful lyrics. Excellent :)

  • STILL THE BEST LOVE SONG FOR ME

  • Para mi es una de las mejores peliculas que he visto,el video lo dice todo......que actor, definitivamente uno de los mejores

  • One of the prettiest love songs ever. I bet a lot of people stayed in their seats and watched the movie credits roll, just to hear this song. Still great even after 28 years.

  • I just love this song and enjoy the artist's writing and with the video with DustinI I just lose it.

  • I wish I could find someone again because I lost my husband in 2008 and I sang this to him I want to sing it to someone else................................

  • My favourite favourite song from my favourite favourite movie!!!!

  • Who wrote this song. Author?

  • Actually this song was written by a husband a wife team, Alan and Marilyn Bergman, who also wrote songs like "The Way We Were" sung by Barbra Streisand and many, many others. They also wrote the theme songs to '70 sitcoms like "Maude" and "Good Times". They have a string of Oscars and Emmys for their writing and musical talent, and have been married for 52 years.

  • @AlexaKL64 Did you see the profile CBS Sunday Morning did on them? It was charming.

  • @jeffreysalley I just checked my email after two weeks. Yes, I saw that show which is where I got that information. They were so cute. If everybody could be that lucky with marriage.

  • Lange: "Will you loan me that little yellow outfit?"

    Hoffman: "Which one?"

    Lange: "The Halston?"

Hoffman: "The Halston?! Oh no! You'll ruin it!"

  • where can i find the go tootsie go song?

  • One of the best movies I have loved.............It Might Be You song from the the 1982 romantic comedy film " Tootsie".

  • An episode of Family Guy brought me here...have not heard this record in awhile I thought it was Chris Cross whom sung this

  • Adorooooo essa música !!!... Ouvi pela 1ª vez em um momento muito importante da minha vida, momentos de uma grande descoberta... que saudade!...

  • Great artist. What came first, the movie he wrote it for or the song, beautiful song he wrote and Hollywood said Yo, Stevie, can we buy this son?

  • I still kind of wonder, did he (bishop) write the song or write the song for the movie?

  • The song came before.

  • Best love song, I have to say, ever written. I've heard it a ton and played it a ton, but it is the end of the earth, the best. Just my opinion.

  • this is my favorite song

  • Remembering 1982.

  • it's a funny and romantique movie ....hehe

  • Pura Nostalgia. Só para quem entende.

  • hmm jessica lange!!!!!!

  • I love this music... and tootsie film... I LOVE!

  • I absolutely love this track, the film is funny, sad, just brilliant!!!!! A wonderful film I could watch time and time again...................

  • "I've been saving love songs and lullabies" I heard that line 15 years ago, and thought of having a baby someday (was 24 then), now here I am holding my first baby. I sing that part of the song to him now.

  • yep me too, family guy did it :) this is song is wonferful

  • the movie was ok, but the song is so much more...i had it played at my wedding, as my hobby is railfanning (chasing real trains) it was just like a song i would have written for my wife...of course stephen bishop sings it way better than i ever could,

  • yep...............Family Guy brought me here too....
