citiesxl is pretty cool i guess but i still prefer simcity. the only thing i really like vs simcity is the dynamic road satructure with its infinite possibilites - but upgrading roads is impossible!!

I have to say, Sim City is dead in my eyes. Sim City 4 was great an all, but these days it seems as though EA has marginalized Maxis. They're stuck working on Spore, which no one is playing anymore, and Sims 3 has been given to some unnamed EA development crew, who obviously doesn't understand the soul of the Sims franchise. If Sim City 5 is ever released, I doubt that it will be made by maxis since Sim City Societies wasn't made by them, and as such it will remain inferior to CitiesXL.

Cities xl is a miracle,emerged from the ruins of sim city.

Sim City isnt a ruin, maxis didnt touch the series since 2004...

When (if) maxis puts its magic spell on Sim City 5 this thing will (probably) be sidelined in a week...

But with EA you never know. And theres always the chance that this game will be so good it will wipe Sim City off the face of the planet

Fredgar City Life didnt look anything like this, besides City Life was their first big game, and Monte Cristo didnt ask the public what they wanted before making CL, but there is an open forum now where Monte Cristo listen to everyones needs and blogs about new stuff about each month. And everyone knows that different cultures sucks xD

This is problary gonna be Sim City 4 in 3d with curved roads and online gaming :)

I certainly do hope so. This game CAN be a great city building game, maybe, dare I say, even better than the Sim City series. But it can also be a flop. Even if the game is great, there will only be a few computers that could run it. It will basically be the Crysis of the City building genre.

Yeh, there will only be few computers that can run it at full settings, but "phillipe" (the admin at the Cities XL forum) said that slower computers would be able to run it at lower settings. So i dont think that will be a problem ;)

The only regrettable thing about the online gaming is that I think they will intend to make people pay monthly for it. But if they don't, then this game has it all.

You can't tell everything just by looks though. The game might have bad design flaws or unrealistic city mechanics. xD
