  • Way back in 1993, Ray and the band were performing in my hometown of St Thomas. Since we were leaving town that night, I called the nightclub in the afternoon, hoping to listen to their soundcheck. Not only were my wife and I welcomed, Ray even spent a few minutes chatting with us between songs and asked what we'd like to hear them rehearse! We kept in touch for quite a while after that. What a genuinely nice person and terrific musician!

    John Winchester

    Orillia

  • Im going to marine land tomorrow with the lead singer of this band!

he lives in my town and owns this youth center here.. its pretty awesome!! he doesn't look like that anymore though.. :P

  • Saw them in concert years ago, they definately know how to rock out a show...always thought the redhead was hot, still do..very easy on the eyes..

  • Great group and a great song. Ray Lyell never broke it big the way he should have...

  • I just purchased this CD from Japan, eventhough I have had it on cassette for years. It's cool with the Japanese writing and obi strip on the side. Also, for those trivia buffs...on the cover it says only Ray Lyell (not including "and The Storm" beneath it). Interestingly enough, this CD is called The Ray Lyell Band.

  • how do I get him to teach me how to sing!

  • He has a music school in hamilton... I know he was giving free classes at the dunnville youth centre.

  • he now lives in dunnville and teaches at the youth centre

  • Holy sh1t, I've been to "d"unnville.

  • My family just saw Ray perform in Caledonia, Ontario, on March 23, 2008, and he was terrific! In between performing his songs he talked about his life's journey as a musician. He is a very talented song writer and an incredible singer! What a voice! No kidding, he's a professional who makes it look easy. And, like others have said, he's a really great guy! We found him to be approachable and down to earth. There's not a bad song on his most recent album. Check it out.

  • I saw him a couple years ago in hamilton... I actually opened for him at a small show... I love his song carry me... he even let a friend of mine play his guitar after the show.

  • WOW. I love youtube. Never thought I'd see this one again.

IF ANYONE has 'I can't hold on' by Doubledare, PLEASE put it on.

  • Dig that bon jovi beat

  • I love Lyell's music. I will always be a fan. Ya, this song brings back great memories.

  • I'm looking for the song "Burnin' Up" by Ray Lyell And The Storm. Does anyone have it or know where I can get it in the Ontario, Canada area? Any helpful replies would be appreciated.

  • You can get Ray's albums at his studio "Rayne Records" in Hamilton Ontario.

  • My dad went down to Hamilton on Monday. About 3 weeks ago I called my local CD Warehouse, and they were able to order it for me.

  • I'm glad you were able to order it. If he went Monday morning, he probably didn't find anyone as we are a teaching studio so we start later in the day.

  • How'd he stand having such long hair?

  • Hmmm...geez...I wonder how Jon Bon Jovi, Slash, Axl Rose, etc. etc. could stand having long hair?? That's their style and obvious Ray's style. In case you weren't aware of it but generally over the past decades rockers usually had hair that was longer.

  • I was born in 1990 so...

  • yeah so what? You surely must know something about music, bands, etc. There is still a lot of hair out there. ;---)

  • Where I live I missed the long hair/rock era.

  • @Simulationcity i was born in 1989 so...

  • Damn this song brings back a lot of good memories!!!! It is a shame that Ray didn't get more recognition with his music. I will always be a fan!!!!

  • Much under rated artist. He is great!

  • This is my stepdad! :)

Ray currently lives in Dunnville, Ontario and has a studio in Hamilton called Rayne Records, where he teaches vocals and does recordings and all that.

  • wow, that's amazing, your one lucky person. I've been looking for ray lyell for years, one of my ex boyfriends introduced me to this 11 yrs ago and my tapes got stolen. I did not know how to spell his last name. I was so very very wow hoo excited to find him!!

  • @EsmeSuicide I saw him in concert years ago in T.O. , about the time this video was made. Always loved this tune; any tune he produced, actually. I'm glad he's doing well but if anyone is due for a come back, it's Ray. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

  • @EsmeSuicide so what made him stop making killer tunes??? no money? fuck the cabbage he is a icon in my eye's , I'm 38 and await hs next single at least ! what are the chances?

  • This is my deda Savo Krstanovic at 1:28 on the piano :)and my uncle David Krstanovic as the lead guitarist ..he does the solo in the middle of the video ..the guy with the big black curly hair haha

  • thats my Grandfather at 1:28 and my uncle is the lead guitarist! :)

  • Great singer, great band, great shows... SWEETHEART!

The first time I ever saw Ray Lyell was about 6 weeks after a family member of my was killed. Some friends wanted to cheer me up a bit and took me to see him perform, front row. I just sat there crying.

During a break he came over to me and asked what was wrong. After some kind words and a few hugs I had to admit that my friends plan worked!

  • Any time I get the chance to see Ray perform live, Im never disappointed. He alawys puts on an entertaining show, and his music is as great today as it was in the eighties.

    Rock on Ray!

  • Ray has a heart of gold and his music is always great. He really knows how to put on a show...yes he is amazing live!

  • Ageless.

  • a true metal hair head

  • Ray is amazing live...i still love this man and his music...is there a video for any other songs from this album?

  • my dad was the lead guitarist in this band...Dave Kristan

  • your dad is badass

  • 18 years later, and I still love this song! It's a shame Ray didn't have more success than he did. Still, he racked up a few Top 40, which is cool!
