Although I don't care for the second line chord change you chose, I really, really dig this. You have a totally old school (Robert Johnson/Bill Broonzy) timber to your voice that cuts through the guitar and a really solid feel for slide. **** Nice!
well... basically i just wanted it to sound a bit more original then a cover of a cover of a cover, in terms of that 2nd fret chord being in there. anyways, thanks for the comment ^_^
Hey it's the retard here! I checked out your videos and have to say I am impressed with the material that you are interested in and playing. When I was your age and first learning I used to try to play a lot of that stuff. Deep River blues is still my favourite Doc Watson tune. You play with nice control! It may interest you to know that, living near Belfast in my late teens, some friends and I hired Rory Gallagher's band Taste to play a great gig us in a tiny local scout hall for just £30!
hahaha as i said on the other comment, i thought you were saying that his entire playing style was like that. i jumped to a conclusion and i appologize.
as for the rory story, everyone seems to have one exept me lol. My uncle really liked his stuff and had a few albums... but unfortunetly i was born in 1992. kinda late for most of the greats like SRV, Rory... ah well. atleast they all got their tracks recorded. ^_^;
people said bob dylan sounded like a hillbilly when he first started, the fact that you are singing blues lyrics and feel the lyrics resonate through your vocal cords is in itself a huge feat. that is the blues. The fact that you took the time to learn the song..i like it man, your guitar playing is rad too
lol! yeah but... bob dylan had some good early stuff, like his cover of Fixin To Die. anyways, i appreciate it, though i cant say i like my voice... i can atleast claim it's on key some of the time :P
Hey pay no attention to this comment. Keep singing as the more you sing the stronger your voice gets. It's like exercising a muscle. Lots of voices improve greatly over time -even Dylan's. John Prine is another example as is Eric Clapton whose voice was weeny at the start but has been good for ages. The voice gains depth as it ages too. Keep singing even if we can't all sound like Fretkillr on here.
real nice job. didn't know anybody was interested in ol rory any more. i've been a fan of rory for a long long time. you do him justice. great playin.
well as it would happen, my uncle (who passed away when i was 1 or 2) was a rory fan, and my mom mentioned it once or twice, so i looked into him. I cant rightly play a dobro along to any of this new "screamo" shit they're coming out with now can i? haha.
just alot of time and guesswork. i found tabs to be kind of stale after about a year of using them, so i started trying to get songs down by ear. went really bad at first, but you get the hang of it eventually. besides, its just open C tuning (CGCGCE), sliding from 2 to 5. beyond that, just do whatever sounds good.
Can you tell me which resonator this is ? Great playing dude !
