I like Ms. Futral for her acting as well as her voice--she digs into a character ala Sills. I like her sincerity and presence. Saw her doing Semele in Santa Fe in the 90's--wow was she good!!
She opens her mouth for the E, and therefore loses her placement and pitch, and cuts off her air. Otherwise, her tecnique seems pretty solid, with lovely resonance and timbre, very fresh and sweet. She needs to trust her top notes more.
I think she isn't a coloratura, but more of a lyric with a really sweet tone. Perhaps a soubrette? Her top isn't really 'in' and she strains/cuts off her sound as she gets up there. Nerves, perhaps, or illness during this concert?
Oh my gosh, what a beautiful voice!!!!It's just that she has a technique, that does not pass to this aria. She sings like soprano-spinto, and for coloraturrepertoire you have to gather your voice more in front, so that it sounds more metalic, and of course not with such dynamics....
Dear, it's not about the person making a comment being able to do it or not, it's about being able to express one's opinion. Are you going to tell me that you never express your opinion about anything?
There is a way to state your opinion respectfully. It's a much better way to do things. Not to mention, Lohengrin seems to have problems with everyone but Callas and Fleming, so there's no telling really.
She's quite wonderful live. I saw her sing Lucia with the Met a few summers ago in the Bronx. She was terrific; unfortunately, we were rained out before the mad scene. 4/4
I have always liked this singer, even though she is very uneven. At times I think she is great and others I question it. This is a mixed bag, some nice high notes at least. 4/4
The video I posted of this aria by her is FAR superior. However, I love her! 4/4. Her coloratura is SOO agile, though this is clearly not one of her better performances, her high notes just ring!
I know the video you are speaking of, the NYCO performance. I have that as well, however, I wanted to add something new. I agree there are aspects of the singing here that are not as nailed down, but overall it is well done. Also, this was her first performance of this concert, not an easy aria to "warm up" with! ;-)
no aguanto! que bonita interpretacion, no es lily pons pero aun asi me conquisto mas, simplemente me enamore!

The voice is already indicating a wobble is on its way. Listen to ADA SARI,
LUISA TETRAZZINI, MADO ROBIN, MILIZA KORJUS, LILY PONS, all representative
of the '"ART" of BEL CANTO.

Despite the negative impressions of some viewer, I do think she is very good in this rendition.
I like her timbre.
I don't know many others singing this, but I think she sang it beautifully and effortless.
Thanks to coloraturafan for this !

Bueno con Zubin Metha dirgiendo basta y sobra, la cantante no sostiene los agudos como la Dessay, o la Damrau, pero esta en "algodon"

I usually love Futral, but this rendition just isn't doing it for me. Not focused, not supported. I wonder if she was sick or something?

Dessay is the better in this aria. As well as Sutherland and Roberta Peters. Nothing to compare

the high note on 00 47 is dreadful! Begins off-tune and raises up to correct tonality like a big scream...

This young coloratura soprano would be the dreamcast for this role, both in looks as in vocal abilities. Some unpunctualities here and there. 4/4

Too breathy, airy, she breathed in weird places, she wasnt always on top of her sound, this was one of the worst out of the whole bunch! 2/5
