  • The size of that heat sink !

  • @Rangha2000 E8400 is a LGA 775 processor, while this i7 processor is LGA 1366 processor. You will need a LGA 1366 socket motherboard to install this processor.

  • can you exchange an intel core 2 duo e8400 with this intel core i7 processor or do i have to buy a new motherboard and everything ? and does this require a better cooling ?

  • i core 7 with the basic intel fan cooler... bullshit + you didn't use any thermalpaste on the ship??? WTF ?!!! where you're from DUDE Yerk yerk yerk .

  • @WismerillH2O2

Watch the video again and you will see that the paste is pre-applied.

Do you really think that Intel would sell a processor with a sub standard cooler?

    It works perfectly!

  • @ultimatehandyman

IoI I'm sorry for causing you any trouble ultimatehandyman ;) , but don't you think that a core i7 at more or less 400£ can get a better stuff likes a Zalman CNPS9900 NT and a good Arctic MX-2 thermalpaste..

it is not too much for this very nicely ship :)

  • @ultimatehandyman Totally agree. While there are some great aftermarket options out there the cooler that come with the processor are probably the most underrated part in the system.

  • @ultimatehandyman How much did it cost you?

  • @11pinita

    £1200 in December 2009

  • If only 1 gpu you need to put it on the first slot and not the 2nd as you said, does say that in the manual.

  • you have a VERY strong yorkshire accent

  • @JMR120600

It's Lancashire but everyone thinks Yorkshire unless they are from Yorkshire ;-)

  • @ultimatehandyman errrm, *awkward* im yorkshire lol

  • @JMR120600

    LOL

  • @ultimatehandyman

Eh, at least it's not American. Nothing wrong with that, but I can never find any decent videos from Great Britain. Well, until now.

  • What board is that and is that the i7 2600 k

  • @GhostScruffy

    Gagabyte GA-EX58-UD3R

    It's an I7 920 processor

  • how do i know the processor can work with the motherboard my motherboard is nforce 710a and i can only use amd on it so AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3,4GHz / 8MB / Socket AM3 (Boxed) that i am gonna buy can i use it in my motherboard plz can anyone that now if it can be on the motherboard so plz answer

  • @stephano566 the socket type is all you need to know - make sure the motherboard says AM3 on it somewhere before you buy it

  • I have a big problem. How to unninstall that fan... Nobody gives such info :/

  • @robrok2010

Just turn the 4 screws in the correct direction to release it ;-)

  • i tell you one thing i learned from a intel heatsink is to scrape the shit they put on it off and use a better kind of paste cause theres is shit

  • @tssracing14

Doesn't seem to have caused any problems on my computer yet

  • I think you forgot to put thermal paste on the cpu before installing the fan.

  • @KevHuyn

The CPU and cooler were bought as a kit and so the thermal paste was already applied. Thanks for the comment ;-)

  • Dear ultimatehandyman I have a problem, as instructed on this video I have attached all of these together. I have a few more problems (excuse me this is my first time making a computer) problem#1 I have the motherboard gigabyte Z68AP-D3, are you aware of any 1TB hard disks that are compatible with it... #2 can you please make a video showing how to hook up a power supply to the motherboard and the fans and stuff...

  • @Mattdanacho

The next video in the series shows how to connect the hard drives, fans etc. ;-)

  • @Mattdanacho dude... read the manual that came with the motherboard.

  • any body no any good secure computer hardware websites? building a computer plz help

  • The P5 slot that connects the HDD to the PC, i cant find the SLOT for p5 cable, it fell out, the model of my PC is pack bell- 00043-484-586-809, help lease, thanks mate.

  • @RaPiidEntertainment

Sorry I have no idea, hopefully someone else will know ;-)

  • @ultimatehandyman thanks for you time :)

  • @Mattdanacho

    No problem ;-)

  • Sorry, I accidentally hit enter instead of backspace, my question was my i7 processor did not come with one of those static bands, #1where can I get one #2if I cannot find one what are the precautions I should take to prevent static electricity from damaging my hardware?

  • @Mattdanacho

You can buy anti-static wristbands online at CPC or Maplin, or they also have stores. Some people say that you can just install the PSU and plug it into the electricity but do not switch it on. Then touch the case each time to discharge the static before touching any delicate components

  • Also one quick question, my i7 processor didn

  • @Mattdanacho

    Sorry, what is the question?

  • Yeessss! This is going to be easy, I have the EXACT same motherboard and processor as you... I'll I have to do is copy your movements...

  • What kind of RAM does this motherboard use?

    Is it just DDR2?

I ask this because right now I'm using DDR2 Ram and I'm wondering if I can switch to DDR3 without getting a new motherboard.

  • @turtelly

    This motherboard uses DDR3 RAM

  • Any chance you have the exact models of the motherboard, processor, ram, and power supply you used for these videos? I've been looking into some of it but I was just curious about what you used.

  • @Daveh88

Coolermaster HAF 922 case GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD3R Motherboard Intel core I7 920 processor Reaper OCZ HPC DDR3 Ram Stealth extreme PSU MSI 1gb Graphics card 2* 1TB western digital hard drives Windows 7 DVD burner I think that is everything!

  • @ultimatehandyman I am happy to tell you we got the same motherboard and i am about to get soon an i7 2600K do i need a better cooler or the stock should be fine?

  • core 2 duo system : 4 x processor

    what is i7 core system?

  • @xITheLegendsIx

    8 x processor

  • no it isnt.

  • @KeygenOSCracker

What an helpful smart arse comment!

You could of been helpful and explained what it meant.

I tried to use a similar terminology as the original poster, if I had said it has 8 cores I might of confused him ;-)

  • @ultimatehandyman The i7 has 4-6 cores, not 8.

  • plastic glove sir. prevent leaving your greasiness all over your parts

  • @Nikolaguitar was going to get the geforce 6200 pci but my dad gave that pc to my sis, thats great, but im using a diff pc which is quite small n has no slots, plus i dont even get pocket money, im leaving school nxt year in may then off to 6th form or college n probably get a job, i told my dad i wish an iphone 4 - n he sed once i get a job, oh well thats great isnt it. yup ive got zero luck, the best thing i just managed to get this year was an ipod 3g but turned out to be a 2g cuz 2g n 3g 8g

  • @Nikolaguitar yh im think of getting the geforce 6200 pci but theres another prob, cuz im using a small pc at the moment which doesnt have any pci/pci-e or agp slots, i was gonna get a graphics card for my dads other pc which has a pci slot but wat happened is that my dad gave it to my sister, oh thanks for the help dad, so im gonna have to get a new pc which im guessing my parents wont let me even if i have enough money :(

  • im looking for a graphics card for my flight simulator x but the problem is that my dads pc doesnt have a pci-e slot n plus my dad wont get a new pc with icore i3 or higher, could anyone list me some gd graphics cards that are only pci not pci-e, thanks

  • @TheAbds2000 Dude... your dad sucks... i tried finding graphic cards that use pci... but thats on really old pcs.. get at least a new board with a pci-e because you will have a lot of graphic cards working on them (like a radeon 6990 :DD but now im just teasing... nvm... in other words... start saving money and buy your self a new pc.. tho i found a few GPUs that are pci.. but non of them are for sale.. so you got zero luck m8.. :/

  • @TheAbds2000 Or maybe find this card... at least you could run some games Geforce 6200 Pci version ofc

  • @TheAbds2000 there arent any sorry man

  • would you be able to tell me where you got the i7 processor?

  • @killallcovenent

I'm afraid I cannot remember. They did not sell to the public either but you could try scan.co.uk or advancetec.co.uk

  • Comment removed

  • Good job on using the ESD strap, most of the people on YouTube don't say anything about them.

  • @timmmy1994

Thanks, you would be surprised how many people have commented about the wristband, many of whom have said that they do not wear one.

  • good video

  • I might have a problem. My case is maybe sideways, if we see it from the front the right side will com of, and the left is attaching everything. Will this change how the motherboard is attached or will it not work at all?

  • @MultiSnoopDawg

Not sure, I have never seen a case like that!

What make and model of case is it?

  • @ultimatehandyman Maybe he has something like a Silverstone Raven, wich has the mobo on the left side and rotated at a 90 degree angle or maybe something like a temjin tj-06 rotated at a 180 degree angle.

  • @0peppers

Could be. I have only ever seen cases with the motherboard on the right, or laid flat.

    Thanks for the comment ;-)

  • @ultimatehandyman its the dell xps 420. i dont know where the case number is.

  • Were did you get antistatic wrist band?

  • @iiReFuZee

Can't remember if it was Maplin or CPC, but I think both places sell them and both have online stores ;-)

  • Is there something you can't do?:D

  • @Arnodude53

I'm sure there are lots of things I can't do ;-)

  • @ultimatehandyman I have another question sorry man, Would a ASUS M4A88T-V EVO/USB3 need to be core unlocked as there is a feature on it saying core unlocker. if i did do that would it wreck it or anything?

  • @iiReFuZee

Sorry I don't know, hopefully someone else will answer ;-)

  • Thank you for your lesson. I am trying to use Gigabyte GA-X79-UD3 Socket 2011 motherboard. Hope that works with the core i7 as you have indicated.

  • @animeloverfan18

    You are welcome.

    Thanks for the comment

  • @Chick3npops

LOL, I think the Scots would disagree ;-)

    Thanks for the comment

  • @ultimatehandyman Hmmmm, you from leeds?

  • @RyanJWN

No, but not a Million miles away. Darwen, Lancashire ;-)

  • @ultimatehandyman Haha nice, jw, does the motherboard really matter performance wise?

  • @RyanJWN

The motherboard is important, but any compatible motherboard should be OK

  • @ultimatehandyman Thanks man

  • @RyanJWN

    You are welcome ;-)

  • @Grimmejaw00

    No, it is not you!

The lever is very hard to press down ;-)

  • what would happen if u bend all the gold teeth XD

  • @naveslaikss

    It probably won't work ;-)

  • hi, can i plug An antistatic wrist strap with crocodile clip in to the outlet cause i don't have the 3-leg like you

  • @nguoitoiloi9

If you only have the crocodile clip one, you are better off pluging the power supply into the computer but with the socket switched off, then connect the crocodile clip to the metal casing of the computer

  • @ultimatehandyman

can i just connect the jack into the ground-hole of outlet. I cannot clip it to the case and I don't have the 3-legs plug like your

  • @nguoitoiloi9

Not sure if that is a good idea because the plug part contains a 1 megohm resistor.

The wristband you have is designed to be clipped onto the case not an electrical outlet!

  • for fututre references. i have built hundreds of computers. even tho im 17 i have far more experiance than you think... dont put the motherboard on the anti-static bad even thi its anti static that only on the inside. the outside contains all the static caught

  • 2:26 dont touch the electrical CUM SACKS!

  • @HEAVYBULLETS3

    LOL contacts ;-)

  • @ultimatehandyman oh lol =P

  • Closing the latch was frekin scary!

  • @Potenti4lz

Yes, that has to be the worst part ;-)

  • Пришлите мне такую сборку!!!

  • HAHA! NO I WONT RUN FASTER YOU CANT MAKE ME! yes i can you cunt *throws out the window*

  • It's kinda funny that in one video ur building a computer, the next video ur showing off some screwdriver and the third one ur doing something on a garage! xD awesome!

  • @oladencool

    LOL

  • That locking lever scared the shit out of me a few times

  • @brydon189

    Me too!

I think that locking lever scares everyone LOL

  • а термопастой обработать???

  • @TheEpoxa

    Термопаста уже применяется

  • Which Gigabyte motherboard is it?

  • @MrSenseiYamada

    GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD3R

  • First pci-e slot is x16, why would you use the other slot for a single card?

  • @jewie27

It was easier for filming ;-)

  • @Deemkkoma you do not need to touch the device manager at all if you are upgrading just the cpu, you install the cpu and boot as normal with nothing else required. if you upgraded the motherboard AND cpu then you definitely need to reinstall the operating system.

  • Hey, I just wanted to let you know that your videos are great. I used them as a guide when I built my first custom computer. Your detailed, thoroughly explained tutorials made the process a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. Thank you!

  • @NYSP22DAVID

    That is great ;-)

I'm glad that they helped you!

    Thanks for the comment

  • @Deemkkoma

Not sure, I have never replaced a processor- only fitted one from new!

Hopefully someone else will answer :-)

  • dont u have to push the processor on the motherboard until it clicks and then close the cpu holder? so the 1336 pinholders clamp to the pins.

  • @cba999casey

Don't think so, there is nothing to hold the cpu apart from the metal clamp and lever as far as I know?

  • Thank you so much for this Video, much appreciated, I am going to build my own pc for the first time, looks pretty straight forward, Tech wants 250.00 to build my pc using my parts, with the 250.00 I can buy a nice monitor and keyboard.

    Your thoughts?

  • @buzzconroy

250 is a lot to build a PC.

I just have a basic keyboard and a Dell 20 inch monitor.

  • @ultimatehandyman How much money was this all?

  • @TazManianDevil20

    About £1200 in December 2009

  • @ultimatehandyman Wow, to be honest I would buy a Game PC then :O

  • VERY GOOD VIDEO !

  • @lashajuventino

    Thanks ;-)

  • @ultimatehandyman you know normally you wear gloves so as not to damage the processor with your static…

  • @joelikewhoa727

Well you learn something new every day!

If I had time I'd check youtube to see if how many people wear these gloves.

I guess it makes a change for the people that say you don't need an anti-static wristband ;-)

  • noob

  • @JonasHagenDK1

Looks like you aren't the sharpest tool in the box :-)

Why some of you idiots waste my time with pointless comments is beyond me!

  • Why in the hell did he place the GPU in the second PCIe slot when he clearly has a PCIex16_0? the first slot should almost always be the slot used for single GPU setups as the second slot is used for dual card setup (SLI/Crossfire), sure I know it might work but it seems so off in my mind and is kinda pisses me off lol.

  • @TizzyT455

Because it was easier to film in that slot.

  • @ultimatehandyman I honestly don't see how it would make a difference but Iuno, Im not the camera guy. BTW good video for beginners although I would have done some things differently, but everyone has there own way of doing things :).

  • Why on earth would you install your GPU before installing the motherboard into the case?

  • @DanielEKOnline96

Because it is much easier to film ;-)

  • @DanielEKOnline96 beacose he is an idiot who instal CPU an about 1 hour, when you can instal it in 30 seconds

  • @neizrevelzibiliziran

Is that sentence supposed to be English?

Why don't you do something useful instead of posting crap!

Go back to playing games ;-)

  • the four twisty things on the fan need be in the CLOCKWISE position before you try to lock them down, in case anyone was wondering, like I was, for about an hour

  • At 4:02 the cooler has 3 rubber-like thermal conductor by the factory, these rubber-like thermal conductors were never good. So, you would get far better thermal results if you remove it, and clean with a tissue with alchool. Then, apply a nice thermal paste instead.

  • @hrbear

Thanks, The pre applied thermal compound does not seem to have any bad effects on the PC, although I do not use it for gaming etc.

  • @ultimatehandyman U can put this on with no thermal paste?

  • @Cashmachinez

NO, it was already applied on my heatsink !

  • awsome!

  • @keepurbrainbusy

    Thanks ;-)

  • im having problems installing 990x on rampage 3 extreme cause when i try to install the cpu and lock it i hear scratchs on the socket of the motherboards :s

  • You are awesome, TY SO MUCH!

  • @zozomanish

    Thanks for the comment ;-)

  • @ultimatehandyman I want to buy a motherboard but i don't know what CPU's will work with it.....any ideas please ?

  • @MrJordybt

When buying the motherboard it will have a socket type, you just need to ensure that you get the correct socket type for the processor that you are buying.

  • @ultimatehandyman Does it have to be the exact same socket as the motherboard ?

  • @MrJordybt

    Yes, I think so!

If you get a processor with a LGA 1366 socket you need a LGA 1366 socket on the motherboard etc.

When I bought my motherboard I just chose the processor and asked for a compatible motherboard ;-)

  • @ultimatehandyman Thank you for that, i'll do the same......Subscribed to you.

  • @MrJordybt

    Thank you ;-)

  • Ive ordered a AMD Phenom II x4 3.6

And I wonder if it comes with a stock fan??

  • @billboardx25

It depends if you bought it as a kit or not!

  • @ultimatehandyman the pictuer sowed a big case leik yours

  • @billboardx25

It might come with the fan, you will soon find out!

  • @ultimatehandyman thnx for the video mate, really helped

  • @billboardx25

    You are welcome.

    Thanks for the comment

  • Nice video but is there a reason you haven't applied thermal paste? I thought that it was absolutely necessarily when putting in a CPU. Maybe I missed a part of the video where you mentioned why you had not used it but just scanned through the rest after I saw that it wasn't used

  • @cjmilla976

It was bought as a kit and so the thermal past is pre-applied for you ;-)

  • I love your accent <3

  • i have a question i ask a guy that fixes commputers and he teold me that there are many different types of motherboards how can i know with motherboard is the correct one sorry for my grammar im not used to talk in english im mexican :P

  • @warriorofthedarknes

That is correct, there are lots of different types of motherboard for different processors. When buying the motherboard you have to check that it is compatible with your processor or vise versa. This information is often available on the motherboards manufacturers website. Your English is not bad to say it is not your fist language ;-)

    Thanks for the comment

  • @ultimatehandyman thanks and i have 1 more question how much did it cost you to buy all this stuf in dollars

  • @warriorofthedarknes

At todays exchange rate it was about $1,852.28 USD

    Thanks for the comments ;-)

  • It's like hearing the Terminator assembling a PC... no offense... But the voice fits ;-)

  • @TrickyNekro

    LOL

  • @TrickyNekro since whens the terminator been from the north of england lol

  • do processors determine you frames per seconds?

  • @Jammydodger58; No. That Graphic cards. But a good processer will make it less laggy if you have a lot of things running

  • @Jammydodger58 Only if you have a really crappy one. It's mostly the graphics card.

  • sdfsdfsfsdfsdfsdxz

  • the first time i put my core i5 on the asus board, the lever that holds the cpu is so strong that you have to put so much force to close the latch. at first i was like, wtf i thought i am breaking it, and saw some scratches on the sides on the cpu where the holder of touching, i think that it is too much pressure to hold that 5x gram of cpu.

  • try using dysons no blade fan, so it gives more air, and less choppyness

  • I bought a psi motherboard and I have a In processor but when I try to put it in and start closing the door there's alot of force and it only goes I. The 1way if anyone has advice please let me know.. thanks

  • @Basswoodbandits

The lever is very difficult to press down. It almost feels like the motherboard is going to crack!

  • @ultimatehandyman So do you know from experience if MSI motherboards levers are just built Unsturdy like that or do i have a problem.

  • @Basswoodbandits

All I know is that it took a lot of force to close the lever on my motherboard, so much so that it felt like it was going to break!

  • @ultimatehandyman Alrighty, Thanks for the tips guess I'll just close the lever fully later and hope for the best. building my frist PC and the force needed might not be as severe as i think it is it might just be me. but theres ALOT of force needed to close that sucker.

  • @Basswoodbandits

I know exactly how you feel. I was worried about breaking something when pressing that lever down!

  • @DrMrSciDipling

    supprised you asked that..

  • O wait you need an anti static glove to open that? i opened it right away without problems?

  • @IchiJewSan

Have you ever won the main prize on the lottery? Probably not but someone wins it every week- same chance of damaging your computer without an anti-static wristband ;-)

  • @ultimatehandyman O so it protects your computer from getting damaged am i right?
