Research shows that x-gay camps and therapy can leave the person feeling depressed, withdrawn and in alot of cases suicidal. I think they do more damage than good :)

It's so difficult. I never went through one of these, my family doesnt hate me, but having been raised catholic I struggle so much with coming to terms with my sexuality. "Am I going to hell?" Religion is actually what creates gays. A lot of people live boring unfulfiling lives, so they try something new, homosexuality. In non religious countries in eastern europe and asia, the % of gays is almost 0. Homosexuality is not even an issue. Many people don't even know it exists.

Samuel 20:31-33 is not God speaking, it is King Saul who despised David and was threatened by David because he was to become the next King and Saul did not want that, it is a historical story, not God speaking that command. I've read it, here's what I learned:
-Homosexuality is known as a mental disorder.
-Only 76 gay men were included in the study. Much more research is necessary for evidence.
-Past studies showed differences between straight and gay. It was later found out that they had AIDS, so it didn't count.
-last, since it may be a genetic error, there's a possibility that with some tinkering, science will "cure" that gene.

It's so difficult. I never went through one of these, my family doesnt hate me, but having been raised catholic I struggle so much with coming to terms with my sexuality. "Am I going to hell?" "Does God hate me?" "Is this wrong" are so frequently running through my head. I can't imagine how hard it is to go through these programs.

you dont need religion to control people and its not beliefs themselves that are bad but the people that use them. Martin Luther King was religious but look at all the good he did. Religion is actually what creates gays. A lot of people live boring unfulfiling lives, so they try something new, homosexuality. Than you have women trying to prove they don't need men, men trying to prove they don't need womn, and when someone from the side tells them they are going to hell, that just turns them on even more. In non religious countries in eastern europe and asia, the % of gays is almost 0. Homosexuality is not even an issue. Many people don't even know it exists.

All it takes is grow up in a society where there is no gays or where you don't see gays on a consistent basis, and you'll be a normally functioning straight human being. I am from Russia, a non religious country, 80% of population consider gays imoral. There is a small group of gays spread across russia and for the most part they are all in the closet. Half the population don't even know that homosexuality exists because they never see it.

@ChilenoPiscean22 homosexuality is common in contries where there is a lot of support for it. I have cousins living in Moscow. A city about the size of L.A. There is 1 gay club in the city, and even thats underground. You don't see gays there, because they aren't welcome over there. They are a product of a gay accepting society. Kids that never see any of that stuff and never hear about it, for some reason all grow up straight.
