My generation (Musically) is coming to a close. I thank god that I grew up during this period and I was blessed to see Dire Straits in concert on several occasions. I first saw them at a small venue called the Paradise Club in Boston,Ma. Back in 1979 with their success of Sultan's of Swing. i just saw Mark (solo) at the Orpheum Theater in Boston 2010.

Hi, the story is as follows: Billy Connolly introduced Dire Straits and told the audience that they had been banned in South Africa when they released Brothers In Arms, when in fact the ban had gone back as far as 1979, since the band had spoken out against apartheid. All royalties from sales of DS music in SA had been given to Amnesty International.
